Born in Middlebury, Vt., Jan. 28, 1981, he was the son of Arnold F. Crammond of Fort Myers, Fla. and Deanne D. Dresser of North Hudson. Duane lived in Ticonderoga all of his life. He was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School, Class of 1999. He was valedictorian of his class with his twin sister as the salutatorian. He was also a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (R.P.I.) of Troy, where he earned a chemical engineering degree. Duane was presently employed by Stiefel Laboratories of Oak Hill as a chemical engineer. He was an accomplished cross country runner, both at the high school and college level. He participated in cross country, track and indoor track for Ticonderoga High School and R.P.I. of Troy. He also ran for local groups such as the LaChute Group and Adirondack Road Runners. He also ran in many marathons including the Schroon Lake Marathon for two years, finishing 1st place in 2003, as well as many other road races. Survivors in addition to his parents include two sisters, Rebecca J. Hutchins of Schodack Landing and his twin sister, Ruth Ann Crammond of Albany; his maternal grandmother, Helene DeLano of North Hudson; his stepfather, Donald F. Dresser of North Hudson; his uncle, Bruce Crammond of Ticonderoga, and his aunt, Claire Moore of North Hudson. He is also survived by several cousins. Hill, Bessie M. POTTERSVILLE -- Bessie M. Hill, 93, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness. Born in the town of Chester, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Morehouse) Twiss. Mrs. Hill was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church for many years. The loves of her life were her church and family. She enjoyed traveling and gardening as well as knitting and crocheting gifts for others. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, William H. Hill Sr. She was also predeceased by four sons: Wilford Hill, Francis Hill, William Hill Jr. and Richard Wayne Hill; two brothers, Charlie Twiss and Floyd Twiss; and six sisters: Laura Millington, Gertrude Ritter, Ruth Carnright, Alma Jay, Grace Burt, and Ethel Ovitt. Survivors include two sons, Steven Hill and his wife, Hilda, of Warrensburg, and Walter Hill of Glens Falls; five daughters: Shirley Hayes and her husband, Robert, of Brant Lake, Phyllis Dalaba of South Glens Falls, Elaine DelSignore and her husband, David, of St. Cloud, Fla., Glenda Stanley and her husband, Harold, of Glens Falls; and Carol Schumacher and her husband, Fred, of Auburn, Maine; one sister, Bertha Duell of Brant Lake; 37 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Hoffman, 95, of Queensbury, passed away on Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on Nov. 9, 1909, in Rhinebeck, N.Y., she was the daughter of Joseph and Johanna (Leistner) Schuerger. Louise was an active member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in New Hyde Park, serving with the Rosary Altar Society, the Columbiettes and the Fishes, a volunteer organization for the sick and homebound. She was also a Girl Scout leader for two of her daughters. She was also active with the Senior Citizens in New Hyde Park. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing bridge, crossword puzzles, rummy cubes and scrabble at The Glen. Louise was a very talented knitter and seamstress, loved her family and was a good neighbor. Her lifework was taking care of people, selflessly helping all in need. She gave herself to help everyone. Once you met her, she was the type of person you fell in love with. She inspired all who knew her with her quiet faith that she lived but never preached. Louise was the nucleus of her family and the touchstone that all relied on. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas McKenna; her second husband, Otto Hoffman; her three sisters, Elsie Meade, Catherine Koch and Marie Hartman; her brother, Rudy Schuerger; her son-in-law, Walter Marinelli and her great-grandson, Albert Perrone Jr. Survivors include her daughters: Mary McKenna, who was her closest companion at The Glen in Queensbury; Kathleen M. Lourie, 20, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident in the town of Jackson. She was born Sept. 26, 1984, in Bennington, Vt., the daughter of Douglas Lourie of Greenwich and Laurie (Dooley) Lourie of West Hebron. Andrea was a 2002 graduate of Salem Central School and had attended Adirondack Community College. She was currently employed by Designer Fragrances in Manchester, Vt., and had been employed by High Hopes Caf‚ in Salem, the Cambridge Hotel and Black Creek Flowers, her grandmother's shop in West Hebron. Some of her hobbies included photography and drawing. She enjoyed being with her friends and family, especially her brother, sister, and babysitting. Survivors besides her parents include one sister, Meghan Lourie of West Hebron; one brother, Jordan Lourie of West Hebron; her stepmother, Lisa Lourie of Greenwich; one stepsister, Meko Peregrim of Greenwich; maternal grandparents, Ed and Evelyn Dooley of West Hebron; paternal grandparents, Robert and Eleanor Lourie of Salem; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Markey, 65, of Rockside Drive, died Monday, Feb. 21st, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital after a long, difficult struggle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Cambridge, she was born Monday, March 20, 1939, the daughter of Frank and Mary Reilly Mullen. She worked for various companies in the area. Most recently, Mary worked as a seamstress at R. John Wright Dolls in Varak Park. Mary loved collecting antiques and frequenting tag sales and auctions. Animals and music were important parts of her life. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. Mary was predeceased by five brothers: Thomas, Hugh, Robert, Edmund, and Francis Mullen. Survivors include a devoted daughter, Kimberly Ann Markey of Cambridge; a sister, Alice R. Jeskie of Cambridge; a brother, James Mullen and his wife, Marion, of Greenwich; two sisters-in law, Hazel Mullen and Carolyn Mullen; and several nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Feb. 21, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after a long illness. Thomas was born on Feb. 24, 1932 in Amsterdam. He was the son to Martin and Mabel (Davison) Pemrick. Mr. Pemrick served in the U.S. Coast Guard from Sept. 12, 1949, to Dec. 17, 1952. He graduated from SUNY at Oneonta in 1959. He worked as a school teacher for the Boulevard Elementary School in Gloversville. Mr. Pemrick was a life member of VFW in Hadley Post No. 5836, Johnstown Moose, life member of the Concordia Club and the American Legion Post No. 0337 in Broadalbin. He was married to Elizabeth Swears on April 17, 1954, in Johnstown. Mr. Pemrick was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Swears Pemrick of Root; father of Kriste Barnette and her husband, Jim, of Mesa, Ariz., Thomas Joseph Pemrick III and his wife, Terry, of Rose Hill, Kan. and Kyle Pemrick and his wife, Ellen, of Colonie. He is also survived by two sisters, Ann Crippen of Johnstown and Margaret Emanule of Gloversville; and six grandchildren. Quarters, 92, of Glens Falls, went into the arms of the Lord on Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness. Born on Sept. 3, 1912, in Indian Lake, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Eunice (Eldridge) Moulton. On Jan. 28, 1932, she married Noah M. Quarters. Noah passed away on Aug. 6, 1979, following 47 years of marriage. For many years, Marvette resided in Glens Falls. Her enjoyments included knitting, crocheting, ceramics and especially time spent with her family. In addition to her husband and parents, two sons, Francis Quarters and Roger Quarters; an infant daughter, Fayona Quarters; three sisters, Ruth Harvey, Esther Juckett and Minnie Chatterton; three brothers, Harold Moulton, Arvin Moulton and Roy Moulton; a son-in-law, Allen C. Gatchell; and a daughter-in-law, Ruth Quarters, all died before her. Survivors include a son, Arvin Quarters and his wife, Nora, of Moreau; two daughters, Vonda Gatchell, of Interlachen, Fla., and Sherlyn Hughes and her husband, William, of Queensbury; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Shiel, Marge Rudolph "Mickey" HADLEY -- Marge Rudolph "Mickey" Shiel, age 81, of Third Avenue, died Monday morning, Feb. 21, 2005, at his home. Born on April 7, 1923, in Booth, Ark., he was the youngest of five children of Rudolph and Rebecca (Starr) Shiel. Mickey served in the United States Army during World War II in Italy and Africa in the military police, and had earned the Victory Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and two bronze service stars prior to his honorable discharge in November of 1945. He married Ida Scofield on April 6, 1955, at the Rockwell Falls Presbyterian Church, Lake Luzerne, with the Rev. H. Borden Adams, presiding. He was a life member of the Hudson Sacandaga V.F.W. Post No. 5836, Hadley and a member of the William J. Varney American Legion Post 862, Lake Luzerne. Mickey had worked for the town of Hadley for many years and had also operated a barber shop in Lake Luzerne and Hadley for several years. He had worked on construction and his last employment was for the transportation department of The Sagamore resort in Bolton Landing. Mickey was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Emile Shiel and Edward Shiel; one sister, Clara Carson; and two nephews; Joseph Shiel and Wayne Shiel. Silliman, Emily WHITEHALL -- Emily Silliman, 102, formerly of Adams Street, passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at Indian River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Granville, following a long illness. She would have celebrated her 103 birthday on Feb. 24. Born on Feb. 24, 1902, in South Kortright, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late James and Sarah (Proper) Silliman. Emily graduated from Oneonta Normal and taught in the Hobart area before coming to Whitehall in 1930, where she taught for 34 years at the Adams Street School, retiring in 1964 to give her full time to an ill friend. She was a member of the Whitehall United Methodist Church and held many offices. She was also the chairperson of the Pastor Parish for many years. Emily was a life member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and held offices in the Rebekah's, including district deputy president. She turned in her drivers license at the age of 90, as had several other members of her family before her. Emily is survived by a niece, Florence Breitbeck of Greenfield Center and Lafayette, Tenn.; and one great-niece, Sandra Hollenbeck. A memorial service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at the Whitehall United Methodist Church, with the Rev. C. Don Wheeler, pastor, officiating, and assisted by the Rev. Sullivan, Jeremy SALEM -- Jeremy Sullivan, 21, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident in the town of Jackson. He was born May 6, 1983, in Glens Falls, the son of Robert and Gerry (Doin) Sullivan of Salem. Jeremy was a 2001 graduate of Salem Central School. He owned his own business called Small Town Customs, which specialized in cabinet making and often did custom work for Paul Kobyluch. He also worked part time for Jim Bain's Automotive. Jeremy was a former member of the Salem Volunteer Fire Department. Some of his hobbies included snowboarding, drawing, wood working, working on his truck and reading about ghosts and haunted houses. He enjoyed nature, traveling, his family pets, being with his friends and camping. His specialty was being able to repair and build anything with duct tape, which he always carried with him. Jeremy will always be remembered for making his family and friends laugh. Besides his parents, Jeremy is survived by two brothers, Robert J. Sullivan Jr. and John J. "Meatball" Sullivan, both of Salem; maternal grandmother, Geraldine Bell and her husband, Darwin, of Queensbury; maternal grandfather, Armand "Sonney" Doin and his companion, Lana, of Melrose; paternal grandmother, Joan K. Sullivan of Schuylerville; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, John J. Sullivan. Gift Shop Charities Wamsley, James OLMSTEDVILLE -- James Wamsley, 53, of Olmstedville, passed away, Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Born April 8, 1951, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Corinne (Jewell) Wamsley of North Creek and the late William Wamsley. Jim married Kathy Killon on Sept. 28, 1968. They were married for 36 wonderful years. He worked for the town of Minerva at the transfer station for the past 16 years. Prior to that, he had worked for Daniels International and John Deere. He was also a former member of the Minerva Volunteer Fire Department. Jim enjoyed being outdoors, tending to his garden, cooking and spending time with the family dog, Bosco. His family considered him a great father and husband and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Besides his father, his brother, David, his uncle, Howard, his aunt, Lucille Jennings, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Ruth Killon, his brother-in law, Robert Killon and his nephew, Kevin Killon, have all predeceased him. Born on Jan. 29, 1933, in Whitehall, he was the son of Ruth Jackson and the late Vernon Young. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, serving from 1952-1956.
