GANSEVOORT -- Peter M. Barden of 148 Washburn Road, passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. He was 62. Born on Oct. 20, 1942, in Warsaw, N.Y., he was the son of Virginia Washburn Barden and the late Paul W. Barden. Mr. Barden was a 1960 graduate of Ripley Central Schools, in Ripley, N.Y. In 1964, he graduated from Ithaca College, and served as a physical education instructor for over 30 years in the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake School District. He retired in 1997. During his tenure, Mr. Barden coached the varsity baseball team at Burnt Hills and served as an assistant coach to the varsity football program. He is remembered by many of his students and peers as a genuine mentor and friend with an inspired sense of humor and intense passion for coaching. His strong entrepreneurial spirit and deep affinity for the land that was his grandparent's farm in Gansevoort, led him to build the Hiram Hollow Recycling and Transfer Station in Wilton. In that same year, borrowing from the family farm's original name of " Twin Brook Farm," he created Twin Brook Topsoil - a business that provided area landscapers and homeowners with high quality organic products for many years. A skilled heavy equipment operator and woodsman, Mr. Barden's varied pursuits, his strong work ethic and business foresight made him a role model to many young local businessmen and educators. Mr. Barden is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Christopher and his wife, Mechelle, of Gansevoort, and Eric and his wife, Lourdes, of Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Natalie Barden of Gansevoort; his mother, Virginia Barden of Bloomington, Ind.; two sisters, Deborah Curtis of Bloomington, Ind. and Jane Lewis of Warren, Pa.; two brothers, Wally Barden of Tucson, Ariz. and Dan Barden of Plymouth, Ind. He is also survived by two aunts, Jane Washburn of Gansevoort and Regnette Faulkner of Albany, Ga. At Mr. Barden's request, there will be no calling hours. A spring memorial service will be announced by the family. An account has been established at Ballston Spa National Bank to provide assistance for "Athletes in Need" at the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Schools, in Mr. Barden's memory. QUEENSBURY -- Lucille S. Creedon, 76, a resident of Queensbury, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. She was born in Luzerne, on Feb. 29, 1928, the daughter of the late Walter and Eva (Fergusen) Stone. Lucille was married Feb. 15, 1948, to John T. Creedon of Glens Falls. They just celebrated 57 years of marriage. She enjoyed camping and traveling extensively. Lucille was predeceased by her son, Barry Creedon, a daughter, Carol Ann Creedon Keyes, and her brother, Richard Stone. Survivors include her husband, John Creedon; grandson, Daniel Keyes and his wife, Johanna, and their daughter, Quinn Lucille; a daughter-in-law, Karen Creedon; a sister-in-law, Elinor Dorrer; brother-in-law Donald W. Robillard; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 25, at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, Aviation Road, Queensbury. Dugan, Marjorie Stone RALEIGH, N.C. and EAST SIDE LAKE GEORGE -- Marjorie Stone Dugan, 100, wend to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005. She died at Springmoor Retirement Center in Raleigh, N.C. after several years of declining health. Born in Bloomfield, N.J. on Aug. 15, 1904, her parents were Franklin A. Stone and Ida Louise Garrabrant Stone. She was a graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Montclair Normal School for Women (Montclair State University) in Montclair, N.J. Marjorie married David H. Dugan Jr. on May 23, 1929. He preceded her in death in 1995. She loved spending summers at Lake George. She was a talented cook and enjoyed knitting and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard P. Dugan; a sister, Mildred F. Stone; and a brother, David G. Stone and his wife, Clara Ruth. Survivors include her daughters, Faith Wiesner and her husband, Wil, of Queensbury, and Deborah Johnson and her husband, Robert, of Raleigh, N.C.; her sons, David and his wife, Cheryl, of Marlton, N.J., Donald and his wife, Karen, of Hillsborough, N.C., and William and his wife, Pamela, of Hillsborough, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Carol Dugan of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a brother, Franklin A. Stone Jr. and his wife, Joan, of Lebanon, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, including Barbara Wright of Lake George; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Montclair, N.J. on Monday, Feb. 28, 2005. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2005, at Springmoor Retirement Center on Sawmill Road in Raleigh, N.C. Hayes, Arthur Robert Wilton -- Arthur Robert Hayes, 81, a resident of Wilton Commons Drive died unexpectedly, Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital. Born May 29, 1923, in Saratoga Springs he was the son of the late Arthur and Inez Stone Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the infantry in Europe. He was a member of the Saratoga VFW Post No. 420. He was a self employed building contractor working in the northern New York area. He enjoyed fishing. Mr. Hayes was predeceased by brothers, Howard, Harold, and Walter, a sister, Hazel Filkins and nephews, Scott and Ronald Hayes. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Parmenter Hayes of Wilton; his children, Roberta McGee, Sandra Thompson, Ashley Hayes, Thomas E. Ryle and John J. Ryle; one sister, Edith Woodbury: one brother, Donald Hayes; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Lortie, 37, of Fortsville Road, Gansevoort, died unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at his home. Born on April 21, 1967, in Spokane, Wash., he was the son of the late Norman Lortie, and Roberta (Morse) Lortie -Durphey. Scott loved animals, and enjoyed fishing in Maine and hunting. He was the owner and operator of the Outback Sports Shop in Gansevoort. He was also a self employed carpet installer. Survivors include his son, Scott Hunter Lortie of Gansevoort; his mother, Roberta Lortie-Durphey and her husband, Frank, of South Glens Falls; his sister, Bethney Denno and her husband, Jason, of Gansevoort; Scott's longtime companion of over 20 years, Anastasia White of Gansevoort; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many long time friends in the area. Steinhauer Jr., 36, of Fairview Avenue, Kingston, and formerly of Queensbury, passed away suddenly Monday evening, Feb. 21, 2005, at Kingston Hospital following a brief illness. Born Jan. 8, 1969, in Nyack, N.Y., he was the son of Albert J. and Linda E. (Garrison) Steinhauer Sr. Being raised in the Washingtonville area, he attended and graduated from Washingtonville District School Systems. On April 25, 1998, he married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Browne, at St. Mary's Church in Washingtonville. Al was employed for many years at Car Essentials in Glens Falls and most recently in the Albany area as an audio specialist, performing various duties. He loved to go camping with family and friends, enjoying the quiet times, with Cape Cod being his most favorite location. He loved his wife and family, who miss him deeply, but "Buddy" his cat, will feel the void, as well. They both looked forward to each morning "treat-time" and the closeness it brought to each other. Buddy was his pride and joy. His maternal grandmother, Ida Garrison, and his maternal great-grandparents, Edgar and Matilda Polhemus, have all predeceased Al. Survivors include his loving wife of seven years, Kathleen Steinhauer of Kingston; his parents, Albert and Linda Steinhauer Sr.; maternal grandfather, William Garrison Sr. of Queensbury; one sister, Karen-Lynn Steinhauer of South Glens Falls; his father and mother-in-law, William and Frances Browne of Washingtonville; four sisters-in-law: Karen, Christine, and Kelly Browne, and Colleen Phan and her husband, Lu, and their son, Nicholas; a childhood friend, Aaron Forman; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other dear friends. Born on Nov. 23, 1938, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Gordon T. and Gladys (Chamberlain) Webster. She partially enjoyed her country home with a stream at Farley Road in West Fort Ann. She was also very fond of tradition and looked forward to activities and holiday's to spend time with her many family members. Joyce loved her animals. She enjoyed summer swimming at Lake George and tent camping with her family. She attended Lake George Central School, and was employed by C.R. Bard (formerly U.S.C.I.) for 35 years. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by all of her aunts and uncles. Joyce is survived by her brother, Larry Webster and his wife, Patricia, of Glens Falls; nieces and nephews that she considered to be her children, Susan Wilson, Lisa Pearl, Donna Tucker, Michael Webster, David Webster and Chris Webster; and 13 great-nieces and nephews, and her lifelong friend, Jean Webster of Glens Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at St. Mary's Church in Glens Falls. Burial will be in the spring at Seeley's Cemetery, Queensbury. Born in Bronx, N.Y., on March 22, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Tesila (Jurezyk) Deus. Joyce worked many years for the Arch Diocese of New York and the New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y. She also was a member of the New York State Board for Psychology. Her brother, Harold Deus of Pennsylvania, survives Joyce. A memorial Mass will be held at 9:30, Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at St. Mary's Church, Warren Street, with Father Paul Cox officiating.
