He was born Nov. 10, 1919, in Crysler, Ontario, Canada, the son of Michael and Olivine (Cousineau) Boisclair. Noel served in the Canadian Army during World War II. He had been a 19-year employee of the Stevens and Thompson paper mill in Greenwich, and had worked on the Marshalsea and Ashton farms in Salem and Jackson. He was a communicant of the Holy Cross Church in Salem. Noel loved music, dancing and playing the fiddle. He also enjoyed cars and making homemade soup. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Clifford Boisclair, and four sisters: Rose Lappiere, Clara Boisclair, Elizabeth Seguin and Jean Hebert. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Rita (Rainville) Boisclair, of Salem; one daughter, Patricia Stone and her husband, John ,of Hudson Falls; three sons: Lionel Boisclair and his wife, Marie, of Cambridge, Ronald Boisclair and his wife, Diana, of South Glens Falls, and Joe Boisclair and his wife, June, of Salem; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the spring at the Holy Cross Church in Salem. At his request, there will be no calling hours. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Salem Rescue Squad, East Broadway, Salem, N. Carson, Joan Williams QUEENSBURY -- Joan Williams Carson, 77, of Meadow Lane, passed away Thursday evening, Feb. 24, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born March 19, 1926, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Max Walter and Ruth Dorothea (Podoll) Williams. Joan, a horse lover, was a guest at the Bit N Bridle Dude Ranch in Stony Creek with her family, when she met and started dating Jack W. Carson, in June of 1951. They continued dating until their marriage in New York City, Feb. 20, 1955. She always said they got their arguing out of the way prior to their marriage, and indeed, they spent 50 wonderful years together. Being a great sports enthusiast, her favorite teams were the New York Yankees and the Giants, and strongly encouraged her two sons, Matt and Dan, to participate in sports, as well. She even enjoyed fishing and usually caught more than her share. She was an avid bridge player and member of her neighborhood bridge club for many years. She generously found time to actively volunteer at Glens Falls Hospital and also with the local chapter of the American Heart Association. With family and community involvement as priority, Joan took the opening at Queensbury Middle School as secretary to the principal, remaining there until her retirement in 1988, after 18 years of dedicated service. Above all, she really loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. They will truly miss being entertained by her, and hearing her stories. She will always be remembered for her warmth and generosity to her husband, children, grandchildren, friends, and even strangers that she met. Always putting her family first, Joan sacrificed a great deal to ensure her children's success. Besides her parents, one sister, Carol, predeceased her. Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Jack Carson of Queensbury; two sons, Attorney Matt Carson and his wife, Ana, and their three children, Emily, Jack, and Lauren, all of Spring, Texas, and her other son, Dr. Daniel Carson and his wife, Stephanie, and their two children, Brittany and Ashley, all of Fairfax Station, Va; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many dear friends. Friends may call upon the family from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb, 27, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St.,Queensbury. Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. today, immediately following the calling hours, with the Rev. Arthur Northrup pastor of Stanford's Ridge United Methodist Church of Queensbury, officiating. Burial will be at Warrensburg Cemetery, Warrensburg, in the spring at a time to be announced. Coon, William "Bud" SARATOGA SPRINGS -- William "Bud" Coon, 84, formerly of Bolton Landing and Glens Falls, passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Wesley Health Care Center. Born on May 23, 1920, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Royal and Ellen (Truesdale) Coon. He was retired from Woodbury Lumber Co. and Bromley Auto Sales. Bud enjoyed dining out and traveling. He was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Coon, a brother, George Coon, and two sisters, Marjie Keck and Velma Dickinson. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Isabel (Mabb) Coon, of South Glens Falls; three sons: Robert E. Coon Sr. and his wife, Virginia, of Queensbury, Lawrence W. Coon and his wife, Dawn, of Queensbury, and Richard Coon of South Glens Falls; three granddaughters: Jamie Woodrof of Connecticut, Lynn Coon of Hudson Falls, and Nancy Chandler of Lake Luzerne; four grandsons: Kevin Coon of Wilton, Robert E. Coon Jr. of Glens Falls, Lee Coon Sr. of Lake Luzerne, and Travis Martin Coon of Lake George; and eight great-grandchildren: Alix Hoelzel, Sydney Coon, Rylee Coon, Jenny Coon, Lee Coon Jr., Nicholas Coon, and Mark and Josh Eldred. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at Regan & Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury. Burial will be at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury. QUEENSBURY -- Carol J. Fitzgerald, 56, of Wind Song Drive, passed away Monday evening, Feb. 21, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. French, 97, formerly of Elm Street, passed away on Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on Jan. 24, 1908, in Stony Creek, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Susie White. Her husband, Everett French, died on Jan. 4, 1970. Mrs. French was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hudson Falls, where she was a deacon. She was also a member and past matron the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her son, Douglas A. French of Hudson Falls; her three grandchildren: Matthew French and his wife, Jennifer, of Fort Edward, Michelle Barden and her husband, Christopher, of Gansevoort, and Joshua French and his wife, Melissa, of Hudson Falls; six great-grandchildren: Erica French, Nathan French, Nicholas Barden, Natalie Barden, Austin French and Isabella French. At the request of Mrs. French, there will be no calling hours. Private graveside services will be held at the time of interment in the spring at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward. LaPlanche, Frank QUEENSBURY -- Frank LaPlanche, 49, of Mud Pond Road, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005. Born on Aug. 30, 1955, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Ernest and Bernice (Fuller) LaPlanche. Frank was employed at Quad Graphics in Saratoga Springs, and had also worked for various sawmills in the area. He was a hard worker all his life, and he would never ask for anything of anybody. Frank was a bull in a china closet. He was a good person who helped people in trouble. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Karen LaPlanche. Survivors include four brothers: Larry LaPlanche of Fort Edward, Joe LaPlanche of Hudson Falls, Terry LaPlanche of Fort Ann and Ernest LaPlanche of South Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Published in the Post-Star on 2/27/2005. Leonard, D. Robert QUEENSBURY -- D. Robert Leonard, 98, passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at The Landing of Queensbury. He was born in Glens Falls on Jan. 26, 1907, the son of William P. and Bridget (Galvin) Leonard. Mr. Leonard was a correction officer at Great Meadows Correction Facility for 35 years, retiring in 1970. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, golf and bowling. He loved reminiscing with his family and singing Irish ballads. After retirement, he and his wife, Miriam, spent several years in Daytona Beach, Fla., before returning to Glens Falls in 1993. Mr. Leonard was a member of the Goodnow Flow Association and a former member of the Glens Falls K of C Council, Glens Falls Elks Lodge and the Hibernians. He was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Miriam Leonard, in 1996; a daughter, Helen Whiting; two sons, Robert and James Leonard; a sister, Katheryne Barry; a brother, Thomas Leonard; a grandson, Thomas Leonard; a great-grandson, Christopher Sherman; and a great-granddaughter, Sarah Whiting. Survivors include a daughter, Miriam Saleem of South Glens Falls; a son, William Leonard of Bethany Beach, Del.; one son-in-law, Donald Whiting of Port Orange, Fla.; three daughters-in-law, Barbara Leonard of Glens Falls, Jan Leonard of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Alison Leonard of Princeton, N.J.; 15 grandchildren: Nancy Stedman, Donald Whiting, Jeanne Sherman, Jeffrey Whiting, Kathleen Petrikas, John Leonard, Anne Nichols, Shawn Leonard, Cindy Rodriguz-Leonard, James Leonard Jr., Jay Leonard, Jon Leonard, Ellen Saleem, Jacqueline Saleem and Katherine Saleem; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church, Warren Street, Glens Falls. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls. Lockrow, 49, formerly of Cambridge, and Hoosick Falls, died unexpectedly at her home on Friday, Feb. 25, 2005. She was the wife of Gary S. Lockrow and mother of Amanada Lockrow LeClare. Noakes, 87, of Glenbrook Drive in Clifton Park, died on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital after being stricken at home. Born on March 10, 1917, in Kennilworth, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Maria Marullo Caruso. She was a graduate of John Adams High School on Long Island. Mrs. Noakes retired from the Merrill Lynch Co. in Albany as a bookkeeper, where she had worked for about 10 years. Earlier, she had been a beautician in the Albany area for a number of years. Mary had a great love for ice skating and downhill skiing. She and her husband have been summer residents of Brant Lake for many years. She was a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park. Mary is the beloved wife of Spencer Noakes, whom she married on April 26, 1947. She is the devoted mother of Gary (Jane) Noakes of Clifton Park; sister of Camille Caruso of Bolton Landing, Frances Wilson of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and the late Salvatore Caruso, Nancy Campbell and Louis Caruso; cherished grandmother of Spencer D. Noakes and Maria K. Noakes, both of Albany; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from Gordon C. Born Jan. 7, 1964, in Glens Falls, he was the son of June (Borlong) Wendell of Glens Falls and Richard L. Wendell Sr. of Knoxville, Tenn. Richard enjoyed wrestling, playing Playstation with his nieces and nephews, the Rock group Kiss, and his home, but most of all he loved spending time with his three daughters and his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his mother, June Wendell and her longtime companion, David Benway, of Glens Falls; his father, Richard L. Wendell Sr. of Knoxville, Tenn.; three daughters, Jessica and Jasmine of Luzerne, and Chyanne of Glens Falls; three sisters, Mary Steenken and her husband, Scott, of Glens Falls, Kimberly Wendell of Glens Falls, and Candy Matthews and her husband, Stephen, of Glens Falls; five nieces: Alexis Shilds of Glens Falls, Felecia La Fountain of Glens Falls, Dawn La Fountain of Hartford, Kristi Matthews of Glens Falls, and Marissa Steenken of Glens Falls; five nephews: Harold La Fountain IV of Glens Falls, Brandan Creeden of Glens Falls, Jeffrey Wendell of Salem, Stephen Matthews of Glens Falls, and Dylan Steenken of Glens Falls; and his longtime companion, Lisa Sherow of Glens Falls.
