EAST WINDSOR, Conn. -- Arthur L. Clough, 80, of East Windsor, Conn., formerly of Gloucester, Mass., and Wolfeboro, N.H., died peacefully in Hartford, Conn., at Hartford Hospital on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005. Arthur was born in Malden, Mass. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Anderson Clough. Arthur settled in Gloucester, Mass., in his family's Lanesville home. He worked as a salesman for Tally's Garage for a number of years. He founded Cape Ann Auto Sales, on the Boulevard, where he sold and serviced American Motors products and General Motors trucks. Arthur was a president of the Gloucester Kiwanis Club. He worked with Dr. Costa Maletskos, Dr. Frederick Breed and Natalie Opie, RN, to initiate the lazy eye program with the Gloucester Kiwanis Club. The first group of children to be tested was at the Lane School in the mid-1950s. Children were identified with amblyopia at a pre-entrance exam into the public school system. Arthur's son, Dana, was one of the initial identifications, as was Dr. Maletskos' son, George. Arthur was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1943. He ran for city councilman of Gloucester in the 1950s and lost by a small margin. Arthur worked for the General Services Administration in Philadelphia, buying and selling commercial, industrial and military property. He was also an avid stock car racer, participating at Sanford, Maine, Peabody Raceway, Hudson Speedway and Norwood Arena, among many. He raced on the New England Dirt Circuit in the late 40's and 50's. He was rated no. 2 in New England for 2 years. Art raced with Lucky Teeta, a car-jumping guru. Arthur also had an aircraft pilot's license, flying out of Beverly, Mass. Arthur later moved to New Hampshire and owned Field and Stream Real Estate in Conway. He had real estate licenses in New Hampshire, Maine and Florida. He became a member of the Mount Washington Valley Kiwanis Club and later moved to Wolfeboro, where he had a residence for many years. He was the beloved son of the late Frank and Maude Clough of Malden, Mass. Arthur will be missed by his family and friends. He was predeceased by five siblings: Ted, Bill, Norman, Violet Johnson and Helen Clough. Arthur is also survived by his former wife, Grace Clough and their children, Linda Higgins of Queensbury, Donald and Delcia Clough of Center Conway, N.H., Dana and Karen Clough, of Bend, Ore., and Stephen Clough; a stepson, Mark Butler of South Windsor, Conn.; and a son, Dana Kagno of Florida; 11 grandchildren, Faith Halnon and her husband, Timothy, of Castleton, Vt., April Higgins of San Diego, Calif., Nathan and Dawn Clough of Livermore, Calif., Holly, Matthew, Luke, Andrew, Daniel, Timothy and Cammie Clough of Center Conway, N.H.; one great-granddaughter, Shannon Elizabeth Halnon; and one great-grandson, Teagan Arthur Clough. Flack, 79, of Mountain View Mobile Estates, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at the Indian River Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Granville. Born on July 30, 1925, in Pomfret, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Volney and Mildred (Perry) Webster. Cathlene graduated from Woodstock High School in Woodstock, Vt., and received her RN from Rutland Nursing School in Rutland, Vt. On June 25, 1955, she married Clinton D. Flack in Woodstock, Vt. He passed away on July 7, 1981. Cathlene was employed at Emma Lang Stevens Hospital in Granville as an RN for over 25 years. She retired the year that the hospital became a nursing home. From 1963 to 1994, she was a resident of Lower Turnpike in Whitehall. Cathlene loved spending time with her family and friends, as well as baking and tending to her plants inside her home and outside in her yard. Survivors include her son, David E. Flack and his wife, Brenda, of Fort Edward; two granddaughters, Nicole M. Flack of Clifton Park and Kerri L. Flack of Fort Edward; one brother, Elbridge P. Webster of Woodstock, VT; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wayne Jones Sr., pastor of the Foothills United Methodist Church in Gloversville, officiating. Following the service at the funeral home, all are welcome to Brenda and David's home at 38 county Route 42 (St. James's Road) in the town of Fort Edward. Gillmore, 68, of Bay Road, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at the Eden Park Health Care Facility in Glens Falls. Born May 27, 1936, in Barre, Vt., she was the daughter of Stephen and Ruth (Flint) Rizzi. She attended Barre schools, graduating from Spaulding High School in 1954, and received her associates degree in business from Bay Path Junior College in Long Meadow, Mass., in 1956. Ms. Gillmore was secretary to the president of the Empire State College System in Saratoga Springs for many years. Carole was the widow of the late Graham Stuart Gillmore, who died in 1999. She was a longtime member and past president of the Adirondack Red Wings Booster Club, a minor league hockey team in Glens Falls. An avid reader of American history, she had been an active researcher for the Queensbury Historical Society. Survivors include her stepsister, Joan Libby and her husband, Kenneth, of Stowe, Vt.; a cousin, Tom Atkins in California; and several nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. A service of remembrance will be held in Glens Falls, at a time to be determined by her family. There are no calling hours. Later interment will take place in the Hope Cemetery in Barre, Vt. Ketcham, Hazel Isabel Grant Traver Fort Edward -- Hazel Isabel Grant Traver Ketcham, 93, of Burgoyne Avenue, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home, Fort Edward. Born in Salem, Vt., on July 1, 1911, she was the daughter of Bryon E. and Josephine H. (Brearson) Grant. She was a graduate of Fort Edward High School and was a member of the Fort Edward Village Baptist Church. Hazel worked at both Scott Paper and Finch, Pruyn & Co. for many years, retiring from Finch, Pruyn in 1971. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, reading, and playing cards. She also enjoyed her flowers and gardening. She was especially fond of spending time with her grandchildren and loved Christmas and birthdays, because she enjoyed all of the presents. She was proud to have been able to see six fifth-generation and 11 fourth-generation members of her family. Hazel was predeceased by her two husbands, Lauren Traver and John Ketcham; and two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her two sons, Forrest Traver and his wife, Janet, of Saratoga Springs and Gerald Traver and his wife, Mabel, of Whitehall; her daughter, Lorraine Westerman of Woodlawn, Va., 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held in the spring at West Glens Falls Cemetery, Queensbury. Arrangements are under the direction of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Argyle. Ladue, Mildred Hadley -- Mildred Ladue, age 69, of Route 9N, went into God's loving arms, Monday, Jan. 17, 2005. Born on March 12, 1935, in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Howard and Mildred (LaPradd) Ladue. Mildred loved spending time with her family and socializing with her friends. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, country music, going shopping and to concerts, bowling and watching television. She was loved by all who met her and was lovingly cared for by the staff of the Hadley IRA. Survivors include three sisters, her twin sister, Millicent McMullen and her husband, James, of Pattersonville, Paula Smith and her husband, George, of Cape Cod and Florida, and Lynn Matthews and her husband, Richard, of New London, N.C. and as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at the Hadley IRA, Route 9N, Hadley at a date and time to be announced. There are no calling hours scheduled. Graveside services will be conducted at St. John's Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Rensselaer, in the Spring. Published in the Post-Star on 1/18/2005. Leroux, Edward N. SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- Edward N. Leroux, 75, of South Glens Falls, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, following a short illness. Born Dec. 25, 1929, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Albert and Corinne (Prevost) Leroux. Edward was ordained May 26, 1956, at the Cathedral Immaculate Conception, by Bishop William A. Scully. He was associate pastor of Nativity Parish, Edmonston, N.Y.; Our Lady of Victory Church, Troy; St. Mary's Church, Gloversville; St. Joseph Church, Cohoes; and St. Madeleine Sophia Church, Guilderland, N.Y. He was pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Cohoes, and administrator of Sacred Heart Church, Stamford, N.Y. He then was pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Berlin, and pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Stephentown, and retired as pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Fort Edward. Besides his parents, his brother, Lucien "Lou" Leroux, predeceased him. He is survived by his brother Ernest and his wife, Lynn, of South Glens Falls, and nieces and nephews, Elaine Buckton, Lorraine Leroux, John Leroux, Rene Leroux, Lisette King and Andre Leroux, Laurie Engle, Linda Strainer, Lisa Stevens, David Leroux, and Peter Steves, and many special friends. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at St. Mary's Church, Warren Street, with Bishop Howard Hubbard officiating.
