Born March 23, 1921, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late John and Zerrif (Abbott) Ackary. Ted was very proud of his Syrian lineage. His father was a school teacher in Syria and came to the United States on Dec. 6, 1901, on the Deutschland Ships that sailed from Cherboum on November 29, 1901. He started working with his father at an early age, assisting his father on a fruit and vegetable wagon. Following his graduation from Glens Falls High School in 1940, Teddy went to work at the Imperial Wallpaper Co. He then worked for Sam Hildreth selling bus tickets. He went on to work for Adirondack Trailways in the late 1940s until 1969. He than became commission agent until 1977, at which time he and his wife, Alice, purchased the building as a lunch counter. In 1978, Greyhound Bus Co. came to him and for the next 22 years he sold their tickets. Until his passing, he loved the bus business. Ted married Alice Elizabeth Hall on June 26, 1954, at the Church of the Holy Cross in Warrensburg. On June 26, 2004, all customers at the All Points Diner were treated to a piece of Anniversary cake furnished by Sarah Combs, Norma McCormick and Betty Wilson, with their breakfast. Besides his parents, his sisters, Susan, Susie, Sarah and Dorothy; and his brother, Samuel, have all predeceased him. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Alice E. Ackary of Warrensburg; two sisters, Ida Harrington of Glens Falls and Mary Waldron and her husband, Richard, of Utica; four nieces; two nephews; three grand nieces; three grand nephews; and a cousin, Sophie Hansa of Glens Falls. During his days in the hospital and Eden Park Rehabilitation Center in 2004, he was deeply touched and pleased of all the people who thought to go out of their way to visit him. He will be greatly missed by all of his past and present customers who were a very important part of his day. Friends may call from 5 to 7 pm today, Jan. 21, at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- Flora N. Casey, 74, of Bluebird Road, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Glens Falls, on Aug. 4, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Alice (Salmonson) Duell. Flora was a graduate of the South Glens Falls Central School. She married her husband of 53 years, William J. Casey, on April 27, 1950, at the Church of Messiah, Glens Falls. Flora was an employee of the Glens Falls Hospital as a medical secretary, retiring in 1993. Flora enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband to places such as Germany, Switzerland, Hawaii, and California. She loved going to the ocean and day trips to Vermont with Bill, and traveling with the Moreau Community Center to Nashville, Tenn. She also loved get-togethers with her friends and family, especially at Christmas time with her grandchildren. Besides her parents, Flora was predeceased by one grandson, Jason Courville. Survivors include three sons: William H. Casey and his wife, Lynn, of South Glens Falls, Richard J. Casey and his wife, Linda of South Glens Falls, and Mark D. Casey and his special friend, Cindy Petralia, of Clifton Park; three daughters: Kathleen Laney and her husband, Michael, of South Glens Falls, Deborah Schmidt and her husband, Peter, of Gansevoort, and Connie Sullivan and her husband, Frank, of Fort Ann; 17 grandchildren: Lisa Aubrey, Jerry Laney, Kari Casolo, Michael Laney, Peter Schmidt, Tara and Kristi Schmidt, John and Kelly Casey, Rick and Chris Casey, Jennifer Cross, Jessica and Michelle Courville, Amanda, Natascha and Ashlyn Casey; 10 great- grandchildren; one brother, Gary Duell and his wife, Janice, of North Creek; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Conte, 79, of Gregwood Circle, passed away at his home, Wednesday morning, Jan. 19, 2005, with his loving family by his side. Born June 27, 1925, in Newton, Mass., he was the son of the late Frank and Marie (SantAngelo) Conte. Moving to Staten Island as a young boy, Eddie attended Curtis High School in Staten Island, N. Y. At age 15, he started dating 15 year old, Emily "Millie" Carullo, also of Staten Island. August of 1943, at age 18, Eddie entered the United States Army, where he served in Italy during the Rome Arno Campaign as a rifleman in the Infantry. On July 14, 1944, he was severely injured during combat, which led to his medical honorable discharge in October of 1945. His decorations and citations included the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Good Conduct Ribbon, and the well-deserved Purple Heart Award. Following his Tour of Duty, Eddie returned to Staten Island continuing to date and later married Emily "Millie" Carullo July 14, 1946, with whom he fathered four children. He later married Assunta "Sue" Cocurullo, with whom he fathered two more children. While in Staten Island, Eddie worked with his father and three brothers at Great Lakes Dredging Co. of Staten Island, was a taxi driver, an excellent carpenter, an entrepreneur owning the Arrow Wines and Liquor Store of Staten Island, and employed with Con-Edison Power Co. for 27 dedicated years retiring in 1975. In 1976, following retirement, Eddie moved to the Queensbury area where he was able to enjoy relaxation, working with wood making crafty keepsakes for friends and loved ones, and putting his carpentry skills to good use by helping them with their remodeling projects. Above all, Eddie loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. They will all miss him so much. Besides his parents, previously mentioned, Eddie was predeceased by his first wife, Millie; one brother, Salvatore " Sammy" Conti who passed away in France while serving his country during World War II; another brother, Joseph "Joe" Conti; one sister-in-law, Anne Conti, the wife of Joe. Survivors include four sons, Salvatore "Sammy" Conte and his wife, Lorraine "Lori", of Staten Island, Carl Conte of Florida, Nicholas "Nicky" Conte and his wife, Christine, of Queensbury, and Vincent "Vinnie" Cocurullo, also of Queensbury; two daughters, Mae Giraldi of Florida, and June Cerrai and her husband, Jerry, of Staten Island; ten grandchildren,Katrina, Dominick, Denise, Carl, Andrea, and Jessica Conte, Jodi and Jerry Cerrai, and Michael and Jeffrey Giraldi; four great-grandchildren, Gary, Emily, Kayla and Vincent; one brother, Louis Conti and his wife, Margie of Staten Island; one sister, Catherine Sino also of Staten Island; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends. At Eddie's request, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 51 Mohican St., Lake George withthe Rev. Bernard Turner, officiating. A gathering will be held following the service at Lake George Holiday Inn, Route 9, Canada Street, in celebration and reflection of Eddie's life. A spring interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff at Glens Falls Hospital 3 WB and to High Peaks Hospice for all their compassion and care given to Eddie in his final days. Also, to Dr. Peter Gray, and to Dr. John Weinhold for their utmost professional care given to Eddie. A special recognition would like to be extended to Dr. Donald Merrihew for faithfully visiting the family home daily to care for Eddie and his family, including the morning of his passing. Greenough, 88, of Broad Street, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga. She was born March 5, 1916, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Harry and Mary (Blood) Morgan. Mary was a volunteer for more than 25 years at Moses Ludington Nursing Home in Ticonderoga. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and reading. Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald R. and Arlene Greenough; one granddaughter, Mari Ruth Greenough; and a great-granddaughter, Alexandria Greenough, all of Fort Edward. No calling hours will be held. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 21, at W.M. Marvin's Sons Inc. Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Lewis, 81, of John Street, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, after a short illness. Born on May 9, 1923, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Johnson) Everetts. Myrtle was a graduate of Glens Falls High School. Her husband, Alric Lewis Sr. passed away on Jan. 15, 2004. Myrtle worked for sometime at General Electric Co. in Fort Edward. She loved riding motorcycles. Myrtle and her husband belonged to the Northeastern BMW Club, which was their biggest enjoyment, along with spending time with family. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, David Hamilton, and two brothers, Clifford Everetts and Francis Everetts. Survivors include her eight children: Barbara Groszkruger and her husband, Fred, of Cave Creek, Ariz., Daniel Hamilton of Saratoga Springs, Mark Hamilton of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Mary Lewis Purdy and her husband, Lester "Tim," of Hartford, Alric Lewis Jr of Albany, James Lewis and his wife, Diane, of Hudson Falls, Steven Lewis and his wife, Carrie Condon Lewis, of Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa., and Stacia Lewis of Orlando, Fla.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Maille Sr., 84, of Pine Street, died at home surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, after a long illness. Born on May 12, 1920, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Edward and Euphrosine (Benway) Maille. Tom attended St. Paul's Parochial School and Hudson Falls Public School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and European and African Campaign medals. While fighting in Europe, he participated in the invasion at Anzio Beach in 1944. On Dec. 2, 1945, he married Carol M. Knowlton at St. Paul's Church in Hudson Falls. For 36 years, he was employed at Sandy Hill Iron and Brass, retiring as a yard foreman in 1982. Tom was a communicant of St. Mary's/St. Paul's Church in Hudson Falls. His church was very important to him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, sports, TV and woodworking. Tom was known as a do it yourself man. He was a very active man in his community. Tom was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Sandy Hill Iron and Brass, the Hudson Falls American Legion Post No. 574 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. Queensbury Post No. 6196. He also served as a fire policeman for the Hudson Falls Fire Department and was captain for many years. Tom was a life member of the Washington County Fire Police Association. According to his family, his kids came first. He would do anything for anyone. Tom was very civic minded, giving to the community often. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Eugene, Emmanuel, Roswell: Addison, Gilbert, Reginald and Pete Maille. His two sisters, Augustine Dushman and Addline LaBier, also passed away before him. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Carol Maille of Hudson Falls; his children: Thomas H. Maille Jr. and his wife, Rita, of Omaha, Neb., Paul E. Maille and his wife, Patricia, of Shushan, Mary M. Remsen and her husband, Thomas, of Hudson Falls and Deborah Rourke and her husband, William, of Hudson Falls; four grandchildren: Carolyn Petersen and her husband, Todd, of Champagne, Ill., Kimberly Remsen of Hudson Falls, Alison Maille of Shushan and Thomas "TR" Remsen of Hudson Falls; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Olivia Petersen of Champagne, IL; two sisters, Lea Diehl of Saratoga Springs and Margery Mumblo of Hudson Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. MONROE, N.Y. -- Leah F. McMillan, 50, of Forest Avenue, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday morning, Jan. 20, 2005, at her home from a pulmonary embolism. Born July 6, 1954, in West Point, she was the daughter of Francis and Teresa (Huot) De Lauri. Attending Newburgh Enlarged School Systems, Leah left early to work for various places, one being a home health aide for more than five years in the Monroe area, and most recently with Shop Rite Food Stores, for over 14 years of dedicated service, performing various duties. Leah was such a very positive, happy-go-lucky person who never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She never complained and was always content with whatever she had. She was a person who loved staying home. She enjoyed watching home videos, or a good movie, but also looked forward to family and friend get-togethers, and traveling up to the Glens Falls area to visit her parents. She also enjoyed playing cards, going out to eat, and religiously liked to play the New York Lotto. Leah was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Angelo and Mary (Romano) De Lauri; maternal grandparents, Allen and Elmina (Seems) Huot; and some aunts and uncles. Besides her parents previously mentioned, survivors include her long-time companion, Dave Schofield of Monroe, and his parents; two sons, Thomas and Timothy McMillan; one sister, Debra Barr and her husband, Chuck; one niece, Shannon Barr; one nephew, Koury Brewer, and one stepnephew, Jordon Barr, all of Franklin, N.J.; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Maynard D. Samuels, Harold "Sam" Stillwater -- Harold "Sam" Samuels, 85, of Route 9P in Stillwater, died on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy, after a long illness. He was born and raised in upstate New York - Waterford and Saratoga Lake. Sam was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the European Theatre. He loved the outdoors, loved his camp on Bullet Pond (near Schroon Lake) and he loved his Weimaraners. Simply put, he was a very nice man who will be sorely missed by relatives and friends. He was the husband of the late Mary Louise MacNeil Samuels and Evelyn Anderson Samuels. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, in Clifton Park. Calling hours will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. Interment, with full military honors, will be at Gerald B.H.
