WHITEHALL -- Frank J. Cioffi, 89, of Neddo Street, passed away on Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Haven Health Care in Rutland, Vt. Born on Aug. 20, 1915, in Rutland, Vt., he was the son of the late Salvatore and Philomena Cioffi. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945. Frank was the proprietor of the Friendly Tavern in Whitehall from 1950 to 1956 and the Blue Goose Tavern in Clemons, N.Y. from 1956 until 1974. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 83, Whitehall Council. Knights of Columbus No. 276, The Mount Carmel Society, the B.P.O.E., Lodge No. 1491 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, of which he served as Commander from 1960 to 1961. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Church in Whitehall. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond Cioffi and Rocco Cioffi and three sisters, Mary Romano, Jennie Cioffi and Rose Firliet. He is survived by his wife, Jane Cioffi of Whitehall; his daughter, Betty J. Allison and her husband, Edward, of Wilton; one grandson, Shawn and his wife, Peggy, of Schaumburg, Ill.; one great-grandson, Ryan; one great-granddaughter, Kristin; one sister, Alice Cioffi of Rutland, Vt.; three brothers, Ralph Cioffi, Pat Cioffi and Tony Cioffi, all of Rutland, Vt.; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall by Father David LeFort, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the spring at Greenmount Cemetery in Whitehall. Daignault, Krista N. Goren RENO, Nev. -- Krista N. Goren Daignault, 24, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nev. She was born May 7, 1980, at Sharp's Memorial Hospital in San Diego, Calif. Krista is survived by her stepfather, Peter M. Daignault of Whitehall; her aunt, Lisa R. Browning of Pelzer, S.C.; and her grandmother, Ethel L. Davis of Pelzer, S.C. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, grandmothers, grandfathers and friends too numerous to mention. Krista was cremated by Mountain View Mortuary in Reno, Nev. Interment services will be scheduled at a later date in Krista's hometown of Whitehall. Krista was loved and will be missed by all. Published in the Post-Star on 1/22/2005. Flagler, William F. KNOX -- William F. Flagler, 76, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Albany to the late Floyd and Ruth Flagler. Bill was a lifelong resident of Berne, and graduated from Berne Knox High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill retired from Maincare in Albany in 1990, as a home heating oil deliveryman, and had previously worked for Agway in the same capacity. He was a life member of the Berne Volunteer Fire Co. for 58 years and served as chief. He was a lifetime active member of the First Reformed Church of Berne and served on its consistory. Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors, and was an avid bowler. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence Flagler, in 1995. Survivors include four children: Bruce F. Flagler of Glens Falls, Bonnie F. Bonsaint of Kittery, Maine, Brent F. Flagler of Colonie and Bradley W. Flagler of Germersheim, Germany; five grandchildren: Jessie L. Flagler, Jennie L. DesPres, Lora M. Bonsaint, Alyssa J.Bonsaint and Dylan B. Flagler; one brother, Robert E. Flagler of Berne; one niece, Carol Barber; and one nephew, Richard Flagler. He was the loving companion of Barbara A. Snyder. A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont. LaFave, Yvonne Marie ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- Yvonne Marie LaFave, 93, formerly of Glens Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, Pa. She was born in Piercefield, N.Y., the daughter of the late Edward and Ludowyska McSween Payment. Mrs. LaFave was a member of St. Alphonsus Church, Glens Falls. Yvonne was predeceased by her husband, Ellis D. LaFave; and a daughter, Marilyn Berlin. She is survived by three sons: Lawrence of Downington, Pa., Charles of Sidney, N.Y., and Robert of Webster, N.Y.; two daughters, Sharon Burns of Allentown, Pa. and Beverly Bissell of Cohoes; two sisters, Lillian Doyle of Glens Falls and Pauline Hache of Tupper Lake. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. McMillan, 50, of Forest Avenue, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday morning, Jan. 20, 2005, at her home from a pulmonary embolism. Born July 6, 1954, in West Point, she was the daughter of Francis and Teresa (Huot) De Lauri. Attending Newburgh Enlarged School Systems, Leah left early to work for various places, one being a home health aide for more than five years in the Monroe area, and most recently with Shop Rite Food Stores, for over 14 years of dedicated service, performing various duties. Leah was such a very positive, happy-go-lucky person who never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She never complained and was always content with whatever she had. She was a person who loved staying home. She enjoyed watching home videos, or a good movie, but also looked forward to family and friend get-togethers, and traveling up to the Glens Falls area to visit her parents. She also enjoyed playing cards, going out to eat, and religiously liked to play the New York Lotto. Leah was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Angelo and Mary (Romano) De Lauri; maternal grandparents, Allen and Elmina (Seems) Huot; and some aunts and uncles. Besides her parents previously mentioned, survivors include her long-time companion, Dave Schofield of Monroe, and his parents; two sons, Thomas and Timothy McMillan; one sister, Debra Barr and her husband, Chuck; one niece, Shannon Barr; one nephew, Koury Brewer, and one stepnephew, Jordon Barr, all of Franklin, N.J.; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Maynard D. Richmond, Thomas Rockwell STILLWATER -- Thomas Rockwell Richmond, 65, of Wayville, town of Stillwater, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 3, 1939, the eldest son of the late William P. Richmond Jr. and Mary (Donahue) Richmond. He grew up in Saratoga Springs, attended Saratoga High School and the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point. His role as engineer in the Merchant Marine brought him to many countries all over the world. He later served in the New York State National Guard. For most of his life Tom was a successful and prolific housing contractor. Due to his young age and business savvy, he was dubbed "The Boy Builder" early in his career. The toughness and determination that defined his character sustained him throughout his life and career. Later he also worked in land development and timber management. Tom was always an avid outdoor sportsman and a train enthusiast. He contributed articles to various outdoor sporting publications. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol (Lomasney) Richmond: four children: Thomas Rockwell Richmond and his wife, Amparo, of Forest Park, Ill.; Kimberly Michelle Richmond and her husband, Patrick Veal, and their daughter, Madeline, of Wayville; Geoffrey Robert Richmond and his wife, Michelle, of Pasadena, Calif.; and Justin Townsend Richmond and his wife, Jean, and their daughters, Marina and Sarah, of Tou Liu, Taiwan. He also leaves four siblings: W. Philip Richmond of West Palm Beach, Fla., Leslie "Wit" Richmond of Saratoga Springs, Sharon Jordan of Gansevoort, and Melody Veatch of Simpsonville, S.C. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at William J. Scull, Margaret Elizabeth CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Margaret Elizabeth Scull, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005. in Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Scull was born Sept. 4, 190,7 in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Charles and Charlotte Smith. She was the wife of the late Paul T. Scull. Mrs. Scull was a graduate of Wilson College in Carlyle, Pa. She was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls and served as an active volunteer for 30 years at the Glens Falls Hospital. Survivors include her son, Paul Thomas Scull Jr. and his wife, Sue, of Pinehurst, N.C. His grandchildren include, Paul Thomas Scull III and his wife, Jessica, and two great-grandchildren, Olive Frances and Paul Thomas Scull, all of Strafford, Vt.; Peter Russell Scull of Hamilton, N.Y. and Holly Elizabeth Scull of New York, N.Y.. Stevens, 78, formerly of Whitehall, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at the Orchards in West Granville, following a long illness. Born on July 7, 1926, in Whitehall, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lucy (Hunt) Holcomb. She was the head of housekeeping at the old Emma Laing Stevens Hospital and also the new hospital before it closed. She made many crochet rugs and enjoyed spending time with her children. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Stevens, who passed away in 1979; three brothers, Lawrence Holcomb, Raymond Holcomb and Charles Holcomb; and four sisters, Verna David, Lillian Lovely, Kathryn Davis and Tressa Hulburt. She is survived by four sons: Milo Stevens of Granville, Miles Stevens of Whitehall, Mark Stevens of Hampton and Benjamin Stevens of Bennington, Vt.; one daughter, Amy Stevens Bennett of Hudson Falls; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Marie graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy and continued her education graduating from Albany College of Pharmacy. She owned and operated Vallee's Pharmacy, on Main Street in West Glens Falls for many years. Marie was predeceased not only by her parents but also her brothers, Charles Vallee, Louis Vallee and John Vallee. She is survived by her brother, Arthur Vallee of Troy; her sister, Helen Gagnon of Cohoes; nieces: Frances Collette, Janice Bagley, and Judy Vallee; along with several grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; a great-great-grandniece, and great-great-grandnephew. Marie is also survived by her caregivers, Sandra and Rolland Beattie, and their family, and her special little friend, Gabrielle Stockwell.
