ARGYLE -- Frances E. Archibald, 82, a former resident of Fancher Ave., Walton, N.Y., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Facility in Argyle, NY. Born Nov. 23, 1922, in Delhi, she was a daughter of John and Mary Isabel Bundy Everett. Frances graduated from Delaware Academy in Delhi and worked at Scintila in Sidney during World War II. On July 20, 1946, she married Lawrence Archibald in Delhi. He predeceased her in 1983. Mrs. Archibald made her home in Walton from 1950 until 2002, when she moved to Pleasant Valley Adult Home in Argyle due to ill health. Surviving are two daughters, Janice Pitkin and her husband, Peter, of Greenwich, and Betty Kipp and her friend, Jack Gariepy, of Delhi; one sister, Mary Gray of Delhi; two granddaughters, Jennifer O'Brien and her husband, Eric, of Schaghticoke and Theresa Pitkin of Greenwich. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Emily and Colin O'Brien; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. at Lyon Bros.-Way, Inc. Cote, Alberta Mary VILLAGES, Fla. -- Alberta Mary Cote, 91, of The Villages, Fla., and formerly South Glens Falls, passed away, Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, in The Villages, Fla. Alberta was a pianist. She was a member of the Musicians Union in Glens Falls. She enjoyed golf and swimming. Her husband, Armond G. Cote, predeceased her in 1967. Survivors include a son, Armand A. Cote of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Joel S. Cote of Bradenton, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Monday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church in South Glens Falls. Memorial contributions can be made to Tsunami Relief Fund. Duell, 89, of Oak Street, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home in Fort Edward, following a brief illness. Born on Nov. 13, 1915, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Snyder) Wheeler. Mrs. Duell graduated from Corinth High School in 1932. She then graduated from Mildred Elley Business School in Albany. She married Herbert E. Duell on Nov. 12, 1936, in Corinth. The couple resided in Corinth for many years. He died July 9, 1984, following 47 years of marriage. Mrs. Duell was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Corinth for many years and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Along with her husband, she was a member of the Holiday Ramblers Camping Club for many years. She enjoyed knitting and was known affectionately as the "Mitten Lady," making them not only for her family and friends, but also donating her mittens to Operation Joy in Corinth. Mrs. Duell worked for over 30 years with the Village of Corinth Election Poll, and enjoyed playing cards with her friends. Besides her husband and her parents, two daughters, Patricia and Evelyn Duell; one brother, Herbert Wheeler; and one sister, Esther Young, all died before her. Survivors include two sons, Claude Duell and his wife, Bertha, of Kissimmee, Fla., and Paul Duell and his wife, Susan, of South Glens Falls; one daughter, Karyl E. MacDonald and her husband, Willard "Wick," of Corinth; seven grandchildren: Crystal Akins and her husband, Todd, of Queensbury, Craig Duell and his wife, Julie, of Queensbury, Michelle MacDonald of Ann Arbor, Mich., Kimberly Holm and her husband, Ronald, of Kansas City, Kansas, Adam Duell, Rachel Duell and Daniel Duell, all of South Glens Falls; two great-grandchildren, Clifford Akins and KellieLynn Holm; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special niece, Monica Decoteau of Greenfield Center. Gereau, Sandra "Sandy" NEWCOMB -- Sandra "Sandy" Gereau, 40, died unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Rexford Baker of Brant Lake and Sharon Monroe Steuart of Olmstedville. Mrs. Gereau was a graduate of Minerva Central School, Class of 1983. Sandy and her husband, Jim, are cooks and caretakers of the Tahawus Club in Newcomb. She also cooked for her sister at Judy's Place in Olmstedville, and cooked for the Newcomb Loins Club. She was caregiver for several of the local children. She enjoyed attending all sports programs, cooking, holding family gatherings for family and special friends and rare quiet evenings at home. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. Survivors besides her parents are her husband of more than 20 years, James E. Gereau of Newcomb, whom she married March 24, 1984; one son, Anthony Gereau, of Newcomb; three daughters: Candice, Gina, and Courtney Gereau, all of Newcomb; her stepfather, Charles Steuart of Olmstedville; paternal grandfather, William Baker of Bolton Landing; two sisters, Judy Monthony and her husband, Scott, of North River, and Tammy Gould and her husband, Kirk, of Maine; three stepsisters, Jean Willett of Queensbury, Connie Cook and her husband, Glen, of Olmstedville, and Barbara Steuart of California; one half sister, Montana Baker of Lewis; two half brothers, Sean Baker of Warrensburg, and Aaron Baker and his wife, Jessica, of Brant Lake; one stepbrother, Charles Steuart and his wife, Theresa, of Utah; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Golden, Cora (Pickett) HUDSON FALLS -- Cora (Pickett) Golden, 77, of Mercy Street, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital in the presence of her son, Bob, and her special daughter, Bonny Golden. Born in the town of Northumberland, on March 29, 1927, she was the daughter of Charles and Edna (Kenyan) Pickett. Cora graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1945. After graduation she worked as a bookkeeper for Glens Falls Insurance Co. In 1946, she married her husband, Robert J. Golden Sr. He passed away on April 13, 1994. Mom was an avid reader, excellent cook, world-class pinochle player, good listener, and was always there for her family. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers: Robert, John, Gerald and Charles Pickett. Cora is survived by a son, Robert Golden and his wife, Bonny, of Hudson Falls; two daughters, Karen Wilcox and her husband, David, of Hudson Falls, and Denise McCarthy and her husband, David, of New Jersey; a sister, Lillian Viele of Fort Edward; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mastranunzio, Helen Grace CHESTERTOWN -- Helen Grace Mastranunzio, 86, formerly of Chestertown, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2004, at her home in Monroe, N.C. Born Dec. 21, 1918, in Peekskill, she was the daughter of the late Walter Corey Raymond and Ethel Georgiana Raymond. Mrs. Mastranunzio and her husband had lived in Chestertown for 32 years before moving to Monroe, N.C., four years ago. Helen was a member of the Mountainside Bible Chapel in Schroon Lake and the Garden Club. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and cooking. Helen will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Helen was predeceased by one brother, Frank Raymond; and one sister, Ruth Christian. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Harold L. Mastranunzio of Monroe, N.C., whom she married June 8, 1941; three sons: Harold L. Mastranunzio Jr. and his wife, Sara, of Lancaster, S.C., Roger Mastranunzio of Sebastian, Fla., and Stephen Mastranunzio and his wife, Pat, of Salt Lake City, Utah; one daughter, Helen Elizabeth Mayer and her husband, Joseph, of Cortland Manor, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, 9 Pine St., Chestertown. Interment will be at the Chester Rural Cemetery, Chestertown. Morrill, Kathryn FORT EDWARD -- Kathryn Morrill, 87, of Fort Edward and formerly of Orville Street, Glens Falls, passed away Tuesday Jan. 25, 2005, at Fort Hudson Pavilion. She was born on Oct. 5, 1917, in Glens Falls, the daughter of the late Dennis and Lillian (McGrievey) Foley. Mrs. Morrill was a communicate of St. Mary's Church. She attended college in New Rochelle and worked many years for St. Mary's Academy. She was also a member of the Glens Falls Senior Citizens and was an avid reader. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph F. Morrill, and a brother-in-law, John Morrill. Survivors include a cousin, Ann C. Foley, and many distant cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Warren Street, Glens Falls. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at St. Mary's Cemetery. There are no calling hours scheduled. Morrill, Robert Daniel "Bob" TERRYTOWN, La. u Robert Daniel "Bob" Morrill, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at his home surrounded by his family. Born Oct. 8, 1936, in Fort Edward, he was the son of the late Gilbert Morrill and Jessie Vaughn Morrill. Bob retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy and as a department manager of Kmart. He is survived by his loving wife, Julia, of Terrytown, La., and children: Susan Lewis and her husband, Warren of Fort Edward; Dawn Jacobsen and her husband, Tiger of Louisiana; Michael Morrill and his wife, Lisa of Bloomingburg, N.Y.; Paul Clancey and his wife, Melissa of Louisiana; and Daniel Morrill and his fiancee, Niki LaCoste; nine grandchildren: Christopher, Erin, Brooke, Alyssa, Devin, Brandon, John, Brandon and Ashley; one brother, Joseph Morrill and his wife, Marilyn, of Hudson Falls; and several nieces and nephews. SARATOGA SPRINGS -- Patrick J. Ruthosky of Saratoga Springs, passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at the age of 38. He was born Dec. 4, 1966, to Patricia Ruthosky of California and the late Robert Ruthosky Sr. He worked for Springer Waste Management of South Glens Falls as a driver for two years. Pat enjoyed NASCAR, all kinds of music, and outdoor sports. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Joseph Ruthosky Sr., his very good friend and brother-in-law, Wayne Allen, and a nephew, Todd Briggs. Seaman, Frances B. LONG LAKE -- Frances B. Seaman, 86, a former town historian of Long Lake and lifelong resident, passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at her home following a year-and-a-half battle with cancer. She was born Frances Elizabeth Boone on June 18, 1918, the daughter of the late John F. and Martha (Slack) Boone. Frances graduated from Long Lake High School in 1937, and from Albright Art Institute in Buffalo in 1942. In the summer of 1942, she had the unique experience of being a fire tower observer on Mount Electra in the vast Nehasane Park estate of J. Watson Webb. She wrote a story of her experiences, which was published as "Nehasane Fire Observer" in 2002. Following the summer on the mountain, she was employed as a fashion artist for the Albany Times Union, where her detailed illustrations were used as advertisements in the newspaper. While in Albany she joined the Adirondack Mountain Club and went on many weekend excursions to the mountains. She married Master Sergeant Howard Seaman in 1946, and they were employed at the Forked Lake Estate of C.V. Whitney. In 1947, they moved back to Long Lake where Howard established his contracting business in 1950, with Frances as bookkeeper and partner. In 1959, Frances was instrumental in locating and documenting the raising of the steamboat Buttercup from the bottom of Long Lake, after being sunk in 1885 by local guides. Several articles about the steamboat were published in local newspapers. Frances has written many historical articles for the town describing old houses and old schools. She was appointed town historian in 1980, and was active in preparations for the town's 150th birthday in 1983, and the 150th celebration of the first school in 1990. Frances was honored by the Adirondack Museum in 1993 with the "Founders Award" in recognition of her deep interest in preserving the local history of the region. A well-known artist, she has many works on display, such as the Adirondack mural in the town hall. In recent years, she gave slide presentations of old photos showing people and places around Long Lake. Frances was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and St. Henry's Parish. Survivors include her son, John Seaman and his wife, Sandi, of Sheboygan Falls, Wis.; her grandchildren, Dan Seaman and his wife, Liz, of DePere, Wis. and Betsy Seaman of Chicago, Ill.; her sister, Ethel Woods of Lockeford, Calif.; and brother William Boone and his wife, Joan, of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister-in-law, Betty Boone of Westerloo, N.Y., Lenora Seaman of Long Lake, Viola Gruber of Taccoa, Ga., and Frances Seaman of North Chili, N.Y.; along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard, and infant daughter, Melanie Rose; her brother, Charles Boone; her sister, Ann Boone; and in-laws, Clifford Seaman, the Rev. Herbert Seaman, the Rev. Robert and Alta Canberg, Henry and Laura Waterman, Dean Woods and Raymond Gruber. Frances wishes to thank her niece, Bertha Saho, whose loving care helped make her final stay at home possible, the staff of Matthews Oncology in Wisconsin and the staff of the Charles R. Wood Oncology Center at Glens Falls Hospital. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 and 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at St. Henry's Parish Center in Long Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Long Lake. Burial will follow at the family plot at Long Lake Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A fund has been started in Frances' memory for the establishment of a local history museum.
