TICONDEROGA -- Georgia M. Cawley, 86, of Lake George Avenue, passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga. Born in Ticonderoga, Aug. 24, 1918, she was the daughter of the late George and Mable (LaBarge) Benway. Mrs. Cawley was a lifetime resident of Ticonderoga and was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. She was a life member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court of St. Mary's No. 794 of Ticonderoga. She was an officer of the Court for many years, serving as regent, vice regent and district deputy. Before her retirement she was employed as secretary and receptionist at the Telling & Potter Accounting Firm of Ticonderoga for 28 years. Mrs. Cawley enjoyed crafts and was a member of the Mohican Home Bureau and served as treasurer of the bureau. She was also a member of the Carillon Garden Club. She especially loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her husband, Gordon Cawley, passed away before her on June 9, 2003. She was also pre-deceased by her son, Robert Cawley Sr., two brothers, Gordon Benway and Lawrence Benway; and three sisters: Hilda Russell, Constance Jaffe and Helen Porter. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Gilchrist of Shushan; one sister, Juanita Varmette of Ticonderoga; four grandsons, Robert Cawley Jr. and his wife, Laurie, of Ticonderoga, James Cawley of Ticonderoga, Jeffrey Gilchrist of Waterford, and Brian Gilchrist of Cambridge; two granddaughters, Kelly Gilchrist and Amy Gilchrist, both of Shushan; one great-granddaughter, Samantha Cawley of Ticonderoga; and one great-grandson, Caleb McWharten of Queensbury. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. The recitation of the rosary by the Catholic Daughters will take place at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga, with the Rev. Barry Lonergan officiating. The Rite of Committal will take place in the spring at the family plot of St. Mary's Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga. Kelly, 72, of Miner Road, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital following a long courageous battle with cancer. Born on Jan. 18, 1933, in Corinth, he was the son of the late John and Nellie Mae (Elger) Kelly. Mr. Kelly attended Corinth High School. He joined the United States Army in 1950, serving as a corporal during the Korean War until his discharge in 1952. He fought in several battles, receiving the Army's sharpshooter award and several other medals. Mr. Kelly was first married to Mary Ann Brennan in 1957. The couple resided in South Corinth for many years. She died Sept. 10, 1999, following 42 years of marriage. He married Sandra L. (Daniels) Stewart on Oct. 25, 2003. Mr. Kelly owned and operated Bern's Auto Body in South Corinth for many years. He loved to restore vintage automobiles, and enjoyed taking his cars to car shows throughout the northeast. Mr. Kelly enjoyed his motorcycles, model airplanes and visiting with his many friends and his family. He also enjoyed drag racing at area race tracks with his daughter, Marcia, and with his friend, Rick Robbins. Besides his wife and his parents, one daughter, Marcia Lynn Kelly, died Nov. 15, 1997; and one brother, Andrew Potter, also died before him. Survivors besides his wife include one sister, Ada Baker of Corinth; one stepdaughter, Donna Harper and her husband, Greg, of Hudson Falls; three stepsons, William Stewart Jr. and his fiancee, Cheryl Clayton, of Lake Luzerne, Tim Stewart and his wife, Stephene, of Marino Valley, Calif., and John Mulligan and his wife, Monique, of Corinth; seven grandchildren: Cody, Karleigh, Jacqueline, Josh, Brandon, Tyler and Bradley; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; a special nephew, Ray Baker Jr. of South Corinth; and he especially enjoyed his niece, Alicia Baker and his granddaughter, Karleigh Stewart. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth, with the Rev. Judith Humphrey-Fox, pastor of the Spirit of Life United Methodist Church of South Corinth, officiating. Following the services, friends and family are invited to the Corinth Emergency Squad Building, 101 Sherman Ave., Corinth, to share fellowship. Spring burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery, South Corinth. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, at the funeral home. Members of the Horace D. Leroux, Bonnie QUEENSBURY -- Our beloved mother, Bonnie Leroux, 63, passed away Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Jan. 11, 1942, in Glens Falls, Bonnie was the daughter of Arthur R. Potvin and Evelyn R Caprood Potvin. Bonnie grew up in Hudson Falls. She moved to South Glens Falls, and it is here that she started a family of her own. She was a wonderful mother. She created a close loving family with her children, her parents, and her siblings at her side. Bonnie made many friends along the way and will be missed more than words can say. It will be like starting our lives over without her. Bonnie was predeceased by her mother, Evelyn Rita Caprood; her father, Arthur Richard Potvin; her sister, Rita Delores Johnson; her daughter, Kimberly Marie Leroux; and a nephew, Arthur Richard Johnson. Survivors include her children: Sean Patrick Lyng, Kelleen Potvin, Kathleen Leroux and Kerry Leroux; her grandchildren: Joshua Caprood, John Caprood, Kaitlin Leroux, Jacob Leroux Dumont; one great-granddaughter, Kimberly Lyng; and a brother, Richard Paul Potvin. GLENS FALLS -- Nelson E. Lindstrand, 87, passed away on Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Eden Park Health Care Center in Glens Falls. Born on Feb. 11, 1917, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Nils and Olga (Wester) Lindstrand. Nelson enlisted in the U. S. Army on Jan. 10, 1941, and was discharged on Sept. 7, 1945. During his service he was in the 34th Field Battalion of the 9th Division. He participated in the following campaigns as both an officer and an enlisted man; Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. Nelson spent 33 months overseas and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He received a battlefield commission to 2nd Lieutenant from Col. William Westmoreland while serving as a forward observer for the artillery. He drove truck for National Biscuit Co. for many years, was an electrician with Combs Electric and retired as head custodian of the Glens Falls First Presbyterian Church on Jan. 30, 1983, after many years. Nelson was a well-known handyman, who worked part-time for many people and built the home he lived in for over 50 years. Besides his parents, Nelson was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Lindstrand; brothers: Ernest Lindstrand, Harry Lindstrand and Henry Lindstrand; and sisters, Mary Lindstrand, Ellen Gonyea and Rena Dastalto. Survivors include his son, Jeffrey Lindstrand and his wife, Kate, of Queensbury; a daughter, Judith Rogers and her husband, Knox, of Sedona, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Rachel and Chris Lindstrand of Queensbury; two brothers, Emil Lindstrand of Glens Falls, and Eric "Rocky" Lindstrand and his wife, Marion, of Glens Falls; a sister, Ruth Gasperi of Glens Falls; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 31, at Regan & Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury, with the Rev. John Barclay officiating. Lundgren, Phyllis Long HUDSON FALLS -- Phyllis Long Lundgren of Preston Street in Hudson Falls was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, after a long and courageous life. Born on Sept. 18, 1921, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Raymond and Martha Kendall Long. Phyllis graduated from Glens Falls High School and attended Hamline University in Minnesota. Her college studies were cut short when her brother, Hometown hero 1st Lt. William K. Long, was declared missing in action and later pronounced dead and she returned home to be with her family. Phyllis was employed at Glens Falls Insurance Co., where she met and married her husband, Harold Lundgren of Hudson Falls. Phyllis enjoyed music and TV. At one time she played guitar and sang with a local folk group. Phyllis spent half her life battling debilitating illness with a courage and quiet dignity that was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She was a member of the Hudson Falls Methodist Church and although she was not able to attend services she enjoyed watching the weekly television broadcast. Phyllis is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harold Lundgren; a son, David Lundgren and Jean-Marie of Hudson Falls; daughter, Robin and her husband, Clifford Fuller, of Schuylerville; a daughter, Jane and her husband, Michael Barron, of Greenwich; grandchildren: William Fuller of Schuylerville, Serah Lundgren of Hudson Falls, Jonathan and Alicia Barron of Greenwich; and one nephew, William K. Dorsett of Florida. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. Santos, June Ann Carpenter LAKE GEORGE -- June Ann Carpenter Santos, 78, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on July 8, 1926, in Manhattan, she was the daughter of Tyler Frank Carpenter and Agnes Clark Carpenter. June married E. W. "Bill" Santos on Sept. 22, 1944. They were in love for more than 60 years, their devotion to each other never waning. June and her husband raised their two children in Jericho, N.Y. She worked a short time as a registered nurse at Syossett Hospital in Long Island. After her husband's retirement, they relocated to Chestertown. The Adirondacks were a place June and Bill knew well from frequent vacations to the area with their children. After relocating, she worked as a school nurse for North Warren Central School and ran a home-based business, Tall Pines Antiques, with her husband for many years. After she retired, June spent much of her time traveling throughout the country with her husband. In 2000, June and Bill relocated to Lake George to be closer to family. June's favorite things were traveling, American history, restoring antiques, needlework, sewing, reading and being surrounded by nature. She especially loved animals - whether it be the wild things in the wooded areas surrounding her home or the many pets she loved and cared for over the years. She was particularly fond of cats. As a hobby, June knitted blankets for the stray cats at the SPCA, so they would have something comforting to sleep on while awaiting adoption. Surviving are her adoring husband, E. W. "Bill" Santos of Lake George, and her devoted children: Carol Santos of Queensbury and Robert Santos of Houston, Texas. Grandchildren include, Sharon King and her husband, Tom, of Queensbury, William Galletta of Gainesville, Fla., Bryan Santos of Houston, Texas, Mathew Santos and Adam Santos of California; and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Victoria King of Queensbury. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville. No calling hours are scheduled. Sessa, 81, of 50 Grand Ave., New Haven, and Hollywood Fla., died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005. Born May 14, 1923, in New Haven, Conn., he was the son of the late John and Concetta Lauritana Sessa. He was an World War II Army veteran. Prior to his retirement, he was a supervisor for Boilermakers Union Local 237. He was a member of the Umberto and Independent Clubs, and a member of the American Legion in Hollywood, Fla. Mr. Sessa is the father of Charlotte (Gerald) Sorensen and Constance (William) Frandy of East Haven, Joanne (Eugene) Gonsalves of North Haven, and Carol (Robert) DeNuzzo of Guilford; brother of Lena Consiglio of East Haven, Conn., Rachel Poirier of Southington, Joseph Sessa of New Haven, and the late Thomas, James and Andrew Sessa. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many friends in the Glens Falls area, and a special loving friend of many years, Alberta Ives. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Our Lady of Pompeii Church. Entombment was held at All Saints Cemetery.
