ATHOL -- Elmer O. Bunker, 78, of Drexel Road, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, following a long illness. Born March 2, 1927, in Fort Edward, he was the son of the late Octave and Edith (Rouse) Bunker. Elmer was a U.S. Navy veteran, who served from 1944 until 1946. He married Doris J. Gallup on Jan. 17, 1948. He retired from General Electric Co. in Fort Edward in 1987, after 40 years of service. Elmer was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Sugar Loaf Senior Citizens and the John Thurman Historical Society. He was also a member of the Southern Adirondack Four Wheelers Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and making his own maple syrup. Besides his parents, his sister, Shirley White, and his stepsister, Geraldine Fish, have both predeceased him. He leaves his wife of 57 years, Doris J. Bunker, of Athol; his three daughters: Catherine Clark and her husband, Kevin, of Hummelstown, Pa., Christine Brown of Corinth, Susan Moffitt and her husband, Wayne, of Fort Edward; his son, Michael E. Bunker of Hudson Falls; seven grandchildren: Joshua Brown, Hattie Gabriel, Kendra Brown, Benjamin Fortner, Brian and Darin Clark and Erin Jeannotte; two great- granddaughters, Katherine Gabriel and Morgan Fortner; stepmother, Dortha Bunker of Hudson Falls; two stepsisters, Marie Flores of Hudson Falls, and Mabel Baker of Gansevoort, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Coon, 90, formerly of Paris Avenue, went into the arms of the Lord on Friday, July 1, 2005, at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home in the town of Fort Edward. Born on March 20, 1915, in Granville, she was the daughter of the late Owen D. and Mair A. (Pritchard) Roberts. Mrs. Coon was a graduate of Granville High School. On Feb. 7, 1942, she married Warren D. Coon at the Granville Congregational Church. Mrs. Coon was employed by the former Imperial Color and Chemical Corporation in Queensbury, was a former secretary at the First Presbyterian Church of Hudson Falls for 13 years and for 11 years she worked for the former E.R. Dickinson, Inc. in Kingsbury. She was a member of the Hudson Falls branch of the Glens Falls Hospital Guild, the AARP of Hudson Falls, Glens Falls Senior Citizens, Hudson Falls Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 632 and the Women's Association of the First Presbyterian Church of Hudson Falls. She was also an associate member of the Hyde Collection and a member of the Hyde Volunteer Council. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Warren D. Coon, on Aug. 22, 1975; her three sisters: Edith R. Jones in September of 1974, Mair Morris on May 15, 1991, and Jane Roberts in April of 1987. She is survived by her niece, Marilyn Thomas and her husband, Lee, of Middle Granville; her nephew, David A. Jones and his wife, Michelle, of Queensbury; her grandnieces and grandnephews, Beth Goodspeed and her husband, Kevin, of Hartford, Sheri Thomas of Granville, Kenneth Thomas of Middle Granville, and David Thomas and his wife, Heather, of Granville; and several cousins. BOLTON LANDING -- Dr. Henry J. Faller, 74, of Lake Shore Drive, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2005, at his home. Born Sept. 5, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph and Emma (Friedrich) Faller. He was a U.S. Korean War Army veteran. He earned the rank of sergeant and was awarded a 1st medal sharpshooter. Dr. Faller practiced dentistry in Williamstown, N.J., for 35 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member and past president of the American Dental Fraternity, a member of the New Jersey Dental Association, A.D.A. Dental Society, past president of the Williamstown Rotary, a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree, Adirondack 46ers, and the New Jersey Skeeter Ski Club. Dr. Faller was an avid hiker - in the Adirondack 46ers; skier - downhill and cross country; snowshoer; runner; fisherman - salmon and lake trout and ice fishing; wood craftsman; artist; USA and European traveler; and amateur cook. He was a sincere and loving husband, father and opa. Dr. Faller was most proud of his children: Greg, Karen and Heidi, and grandsons, Henrik, Max and Benjamin. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Sophia Faller. Survivors include his wife, Dawn Faller of Bolton Landing; one son, Greg Faller and his wife, Rita, and their son, Henrik, all of Towson, Md.; two daughters, Karen Emerle and her husband, Len, and their son, Maximilian, all of Williamstown, N.J., and Heidi Joe Meister and her husband, Michael, and their son Benjamin, all of Bensheim, Germany; seven cousins: Kathryn Streater of Williamstown, N.J., Anna Mae Holland of Maine, Eva Frekot of Williamstown, N.J., Edward Friedrich of Blackwood, N.J., Louise Blount of Stratford, N.J., Herb Guenter of Warminster, Pa., and Dr. Norbert Fritsch of Germany. Harpp, Earl R. CHESTERTOWN -- Earl R. Harpp, 71, of Pucker Street, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2005, while doing what he loved most, working in the woods on the family property. Born Jan. 15, 1934, in Chestertown, he was the son of the late Richard and Ethel (Corlew) Harpp. Earl was a lifelong resident of the area and entered the U.S. Army in 1956. He served in Korea before his honorable discharge in 1958. Upon his return from the service, Earl worked in the woods as a lumberman. He spent more than 30 years as the maintenance man at Brant Lake Camp before retiring. Following his retirement, he still enjoyed working during the summer months at the camp. Besides working in the woods, he also enjoyed hiking, going to fairs, auto racing and helping his friends and neighbors with their yardwork. Besides his parents, his sister, Elvira Granger, predeceased him. Survivors include his sisters, Daisey M. Baisley of Pottersville, Beatrice V. Harpp of Chestertown, with whom he resided with; his brothers, Eldrid Harpp and his wife, Nancy, of Brant Lake, and Alfred Harpp of Chestertown; an aunt, Dorothy Corlew of Palm Coast, Fla. several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Bob and Jean Ward of Brant Lake and Sam Nester of Las Vegas, Nev. Published in the Post-Star from 7/3/2005 - 7/4/2005. Lewis, Gertrude (Leining) NORTH GRANVILLE -- Gertrude (Leining) Lewis, 89, passed gently away in her home on Saturday, July 2, 2005. She had been in failing health for several months and was attended to in her last days by her loving daughters, Lanette June Breault and Roxann Lorraine Flynn. She was born Gertrude Alice Leining in Hartford, Conn., on Dec. 8, 1915, into the family of the late Ludwig "Louis" and Augustine Marie (Galmiche) Leining. She was predeceased by her brothers, Lawrence "Sonny" and Frank "Buddy" and by her sisters, Bertha, Mabel, Elizabeth, Beatrice and Shirley. Gertrude was married for 60 years to her beloved late husband, George W. Lewis. They were married Jan. 16, 1935, and lived and raised their two daughters in South Windsor, Conn. Gertrude was a longtime member of the Wapping Mothers Club and spent many hours designing floats for town parades. George was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Hartford. They retired to Stonington, Conn., on the shore, in 1977, where George passed away in 1995. She was an accomplished artist and loved the time she was able to spend capturing her world on canvas. Some of her paintings have adorned the walls of her homes for many years and been admired by all. Her cherished "Bubbles" portrait came to her many years ago as a kind of self-portrait envisioned in soap bubbles in the kitchen sink. Character and depth are hallmarks of her art, whether portraits, nature scenes or still lifes. Her paintings will be distributed among her surviving family to bring joy and fond memories to all. Gertrude came to Granville in 2002, where she built a new home and could be near her children. Here she had many cherished and loving moments with the families of Lanette and her husband, Ken Breault, and Roxann and her husband, Pete Flynn. Her saddened family includes seven grandchildren: Kim Gale, Clifford Gordon, Christine Holly, Eric Steven, Corrin Marie, Kelly Anne and Heather Jean; and 12 great-grandchildren who miss her daily. She was always known to her great-grandchildren as "Supergrandma" and she treasured their company and their love. Visiting hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Robert M. Mudse, Mary Breen "Mazie" TROY -- Mary "Mazie" Breen Mudse entered into rest on Saturday, July 2, 2005, in the loving arms of her family by her side. Born Aug. 6, 1910, she was the daughter of the late William and Bessie (Walsh) Donohue. She was the wife of Harold Breen, who died in 1950, and the late Anthony Mudse, who died in 1998. Mary was employed for 35 years with the New York Telephone Co. and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was the "Matriarch" of the family and will be truly missed by her daughters, sons-in-law, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren. Mary is the beloved mother of Sharon (Robert) Hupe of Troy, Sheila Margosian of North Greenbush, and Lynn (Michael) Seidel of Glens Falls; grandmother of Michele (Paul) Barker, Kimberly Margosian, Nicole (John) Palladino, Tracy Margosian, Rachel (Christopher) Murray and Elizabeth Seidel; great-grandmother of Kelsey Aislinn, Brogan Barker, Nikolas Warren, Brady and Griffin Palladino and Lily and Matthew Murray. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Edwards, and a brother, Edward Donohue. Published in the Post-Star on 7/4/2005. Wojtkun, Joseph Michael CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- Joseph Michael Wojtkun, 48, of West Main Street, died peacefully at home on Friday, July 1, 2005. He was the husband of Dianne Pehnke Wojtkun. Born June 8, 1957, in Andover, Mass., he was the sixth child of the late Dr. Bruno S. Wojtkun and Janina Betley Wojtkun and was a graduate of Andover High School and Villanova University. After serving with the United States Air Force, Joe moved to California and flew as a stunt pilot for various movie studios and was an instructor pilot at local airports. He then worked for several commercial airlines, ultimately crowning his career as a Captain with Continental Airlines, flying the South American route. Joe and Dianne were married Oct. 8, 1988. At the time, they were living in Boston. Being an avid fly fisherman and realizing that Cambridge, N.Y., was both within commuting distance of Newark Airport and very near the Batten Kill, Joe and Dianne moved their family to Cambridge in 1995. Over the years Joe came to love the Cambridge community and it became part of him. He enjoyed the outdoors in every respect. Along with fishing, he hunted grouse, enjoyed boating, hiking and backpacking. He loved to share his appreciation of nature with his wife, their sons and their sons' friends. They have many wonderful memories of great hiking and backpacking trips. Indoors, Joe had a very special hobby - building replicas of airplanes and ships. Every piece was researched and hand-crafted to the nth degree. They are very precious treasures. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. In March, Joe was diagnosed with a very rare form of lymphoma. He spent eight weeks at Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan. On Thursday, June 30, he came home to Cambridge. On Friday, with the help of the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, Joe was able to spend some time in his beloved outdoors. He passed away Friday evening, with his family present, in the midst of a summer thunderstorm. Along with his wife and mother, Joe is survived by two sons, Derek and Robert Wojtkun; eight siblings: Cathy, Gregory, Peter, Paul and Janina Wojtkun, Maribeth Driscoll, Christina LaVoie, and Susan Pritchett; his in-laws, Annette and Robert Pehnke, Michele Snell, Robert, Karl and Scott Pehnke; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Liam Condon at St. Patrick's Church, 17 South Park St., Cambridge on Wednesday, July 6, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Woodlands Cemetery, Cambridge.
