Wevertown -- Donald A. Glode, of State Route 8, passed away Wednesday morning, July 6, 2005, at his home following a long illness. Born on Nov. 29, 1929, in Red Bank, N.J., he was the son of the late Arthur and Pauline (Brown) Glode. Don was a graduate of North Creek High School and attended State University of New York at Alfred. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean War, being deployed in Germany. Donald worked for many years at Vic Sabattis' Garage in North Creek and started working as a laboratory technician for Barton's Mine in North River in 1968, until his retirement in 1994, following 26 years of service. He was an avid NY Mets baseball fan, through the good and the bad. Don's passions were his family, gardening and photography. Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Laurel E. (Lomax) Glode; devoted children, Maria E. Glode of Wevertown, Richard H. Glode and his wife, Jennifer, of Wevertown, and Dawn L. Glode of Dolgeville. Don's children wanted to share this poem. We'll always Remember That special smile, that caring heart. That warm embrace you always gave us. You being there for mom and us through good and bad times no matter what. We'll always remember you, Dad, because there'll never be anyone to replace you in our hearts and the love we will always have for you. He also is survived by his cherished grandchildren, Derek, Craig, and Darren Goodspeed, Mikayla Glode and Kacey Daley; his sister, Margaret Glode of North Creek; a brother, Roger Glode and his wife, Maureen, of Gloversville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; his beloved dogs, Cocoa and Honey. Memorial services and burial will be held at a later date to be announced at St. James Cemetery, North Creek. Published in the Post-Star on 7/8/2005. Green, Evelyn D. LAKE LUZERNE -- Evelyn D. Green, 79, of Howe Road, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital. She was dearly loved and will be missed by her family. Born on April 28, 1926, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late William and Edith (VanDusen) Dahl. Mrs. Green graduated from Middle Township High School in Cape May, N.J. in 1943. She then graduated from Nurses Training School at Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia in 1946. She was employed as a nurse at Methodist Hospital for five years. She then joined the United States Army in 1951, serving as a Captain on the Army Nurse Corps until her discharge in 1961. While serving during the Korean War she received the UN, Korean and National Defense Service Medals, and the Army of Occupation Medal and the Meritorious Unit Emblem. She married John P. Green in 1959. The couple resided in Pennsylvania and then in Seattle for a few years before settling in Texas, where they lived for many years. He died April 20, 1979 following 20 years of marriage. Mrs. Green also worked for 20 years as an RN in the Emergency Room at Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena, Texas, until her retirement in 1993. She served as an assistant girl scout leader in Texas for over five years. Mrs. Green enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, jigsaw puzzles, cooking, and spending time with her family. Besides her husband and her parents, one daughter, Ruth Green; and one brother, George Dahl, died before her. Survivors include three daughters, Margaret E. Green of Corvallis, Ore., Anne L. Green of Lake Luzerne, and Beatrice F. Green of Evergreen, Colo.; one sister, Mildred Sparks of Dunedin, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Dahl of Greenfield Center and Marguerite Gannon of Warminister, Pa.; one granddaughter, Brenda G. Green-Sisson of Corvallis, Ore.; one aunt, one uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m on Tuesday, July 12, at Densmore Funeral Home Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth, with the Rev. Jeff Butler officiating. A committal will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville. The family suggests that memorials take the form of donations to the charity of one's choice. Published in the Post-Star on 7/8/2005. Mulder, Dena HOLLAND, Mich. -- Dena Mulder of Holland, Mich., passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at Hospice of Holland following a short illness. Dena, a lifelong resident of Holland was born on Feb. 5, 1914, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Catherine Griep. Besides her parents, Dena was predeceased by her husband, John, on July 3, 1986; her brother, Adrian; her sister, Kate Elzinga; and one great-granddaughter, Erin VanKampen. Survivors include sons, Roger and Judith Mulder of Holland, Mich., and Delwyn and Jean Mulder of Queensbury; daughters, Marcia and John Lang of Bocas, Panama, and Mary and Gilbert Gutierrez of Holland, Mich.; her grandchildren, Cheryl Boes, Dawn VanKampen, Carla Bos, and Shawn Price of Holland, Mich., Jillian and Jenna Mulder of Queensbury, Garret and Rebecca Mulder of Danbury, Conn., Dr. Jessica Mulder of Dix Hills, N.Y., and Jennifer Smith of Lanexa, Va. She is also survived by nine great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons, as well as another great-grandson due in July 2005, and one sister, Jean VanderWege. Funeral services will be held at the Lakeshore Memorial Services in Holland, Mich. on Saturday, July 9, 2005, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Mulder officiating. Schwalje, Dorothy Kay Utz (Thompson) TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. and BRANT LAKE -- Dorothy Kay Thompson Utz Schwalje of Tarpon Springs, Fla. and Brant Lake, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J. at age 84, after a brief illness. Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., she was a native of Metuchen, N.J. She was the daughter of the late Jean Drysdale Thompson and William M. Thompson. She was a graduate of Metuchen High School and the Katherine Gibbs School in New York City; she was for many years, secretary for the Dean of Men at Rutgers College. While a resident of Metuchen, she was one of the founders of the Metuchen First Aid Squad and a member for many years. She was a founding commissioner of the Metuchen Civil Rights Commission. In San Diego, Calif., where she lived for 18 years, she was a volunteer with Pet Assistance of San Diego and a court-supervised program for runaway adolescent girls. At Brant Lake, she was a board member of the Horicon, N.Y. Historical Society and Museum. At her home in Tarpon Springs, she served on many committees for the Tarpon Springs Cove Condo Association. Besides her husband, Joseph L., also surviving from her marriage to Vincent P. Utz are her children, Dr. Pamela J. Utz of Oakland, Calif., Jeffrey S. Utz of Farmingdale, N.J., Wendy A. Childers of Normandy Beach, N.J. and Laura Utz Petersen of Springfield, N.J. In addition, she leaves stepchildren Peter J. Schwalje of Edison, N.J., Paula A. Eaton of Edison, N.J., Jeffrey J. Schwalje of Bridgewater, N.J., and James P. Schwalje of Hillsborough; five grandchildren and eight stepgrandchildren; her sister, Jean Thompson Weiler of Watchung, N.J. She is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews. Visitation is Friday, July 8, 2005, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Route 27) Metuchen, N.J.
