GLENS FALLS -- Dorothy V. Blondin, 86, of The Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of Fort Edward and Lake Placid, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2005, at the Stanton, following a brief illness. She was born on July 6, 1919, in Constable, N.Y., the daughter of the late Merton and Vera (Smith) Wood. Mrs. Blondin graduated from Fort Edward High School and on Oct. 27, 1940, married Edward Blondin at St. Alphonsus Church in Glens Falls. For more than 30 years, she and her husband worked hand in hand operating Blondin's Gas Station, Dry Cleaners and Laundromat in Fort Edward and Lake Placid. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fort Edward, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Morrisary. Mrs. Blondin had also been a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Mary Elizabeth in Lake Placid and was a member of the Home Bureau in Fort Edward. In addition to her husband of almost 60 years, Edward Blondin Sr., she was predeceased by her infant granddaughter, Katie Blondin; her two brothers, Roland Wood and Raymond Wood; and a sister, Frances Wood Eseltine. Survivors include her son, Edward Blondin Jr. and his wife, Sue, of Lake George; two grandchildren, Ashley Blondin and Adam Blondin, both of Lake George, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Church on Broadway in Fort Edward with the Rev. Joseph Xavier officiating. Danielson, Carl INDIAN LAKE -- Carl Danielson, age 72, of Joe Locke Road, died at his home on Lake Abanakee. Born on March 22, 1933, in Queens, he was the son of Thyra and Ewald Danielson. He served in the United States Navy. Carl was a sergeant with the New York City Police Department in Queens and retired after more than 20 years of service. He moved to Indian Lake in 2001 after vacationing in the area for many years. He enjoyed the peace, solitude, sights, sounds, and tranquility of the Adirondacks as well as watching the abundant wildlife. Carl enjoyed fishing, especially fly fishing, hiking, and snorkeling. He was skilled in tying his own flies and was a fan of the New York Mets. Survivors include one daughter, Carla Danielson and her husband, Mohamed Shanap of Brooklyn; and one granddaughter, Leila Shanap of Brooklyn. Friends are invited to gather at the Blue Mountain Lake Boat Livery, Monday, July 11, 2005, for an 11 a.m. memorial service. Published in the Post-Star on 7/9/2005. DeSantis, Audrey J. SLINGERLANDS -- Audrey J. DeSantis, 77, of Slingerlands passed away on Monday, July 4, 2005. She was born in Passaic, N.J., the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene DeSantis. Audrey is survived by her children, David, Mark, Susan, and Steven Langlitz and daughters-in-law, Loren and Bonnie, as well as her brother, Carl, and sister-in-law, Barbara DeSantis of Lake George. She also has four grandchildren, Daniel, Bryan, Stephanie, and Patrick Langlitz and numerous nieces and nephews. Upon graduating from Lake George High School, Audrey attended NYS College at Fredonia and graduated with a music education degree. Audrey went on to receive a master's degree in education from Syracuse University. She taught in several public schools and was a prominent piano teacher in the Albany area. There will be a memorial service held Tuesday, July 12, 10:30 a.m. at the Delmar Reformed Church, 386 Delaware Avenue, Delmar. Burial will be in Pine View Cemetery, Queensbury. Kottman, 85, of Fort Edward Road, went into the arms of the Lord to join his beloved wife, Betty, Friday morning, July 8, 2005, from Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness. Born Dec. 23, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Frank and Mae (Curren) Kottman. Following graduation from Alexander Hamilton High School of Brooklyn, and anxious to serve his country, Frank finagled a way to enlist in the New York National Guard on Nov. 16, 1936, prior to his 17th birthday, and was able to serve until his honorable discharge Nov. 15, 1939. He later enlisted with the United States Army Jan. 6, 1942, serving in both the Pacific and the European-African Campaigns being honorably discharged Oct. 25, 1945. His decorations and citations include three Bronze Star Medals, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon and Bar, the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon and Bar, Honorable Service Lapel Button, Victory Medal, the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar. Frank returned home from the war to the Glens Falls area and to his wife, Betty H. Millington, whom he married April 2, 1944, and with whom he shared just short of 60 wonderful years until her untimely passing March 24, 2004. During those years, Frank worked for McGowan Educator Food Co. and Greenhouse Wholesale Food Co. in Albany, N.Y.; owned his own grocery store on Third Avenue in Glens Falls; was a grocery wholesaler for a while; then entered the automobile sales business in 1959 when he went to work for Whiteman Chevrolet of Glens Falls as a sales representative and later sales manager until 1970, after which he worked at several area dealerships until his retirement in 1982. Besides his parents and loving wife, a sister, Marie Murray and her husband, Frank, and another brother-in-law, Bill Sutts, also predeceased him. Frank is survived by four sons, Scott Kottman and his wife, Kathy, of South Glens Falls, Steve Kottman and his wife, Donna, of San Antonio, Texas, Michael Kottman of Gansevoort, and David Kottman and his wife, Debby, of South Glens Falls; one daughter, Jeanne Fleury and her husband, Jim, of South Glens Falls; three grandchildren, Michael Jr., Christopher, and Connie Kottman; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Combs and Rebecca Kottman; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Sutts, formerly of Warrensburg and now of Ayer, Mass.; also nieces, nephews, and cousins. Parrish, Donald Irving ARGYLE -- Donald Irving Parrish, 93, of Hinds Road, entered into rest on Thursday, July 7, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, after a short illness. Born on May 22, 1912, in Fort Ann, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Frances (Pope) Parrish. Mr. Parrish served his country in the U.S. Army during, World War II. He worked for many years as a logger in this area and as a delivery person. He retired from the Warren County Airport as a heavy equipment operator. He approached every task as a diligent worker. Mr. Parrish attended the Gospel Lighthouse, Assemblies of God Church in Hudson Falls. His enjoyments included fishing, hunting, bird watching, flowers, mowing his lawn, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. He was a very loving and caring father and grandfather. Besides his wife, Gennett Parrish, who died in 1982, and his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Madeline Parrish. Survivors include one son, Donald C. Parrish and his wife, Kelly, of Argyle; two grandchildren, Maria Frances Washburn and her husband, Chris, of Hudson Falls, and Donald D. Parrish of Hudson Falls; three great-grandchildren, Cassandra Parrish, Brandon Washburn, and Kileigh Washburn; one sister, Joyce Bartholomew and her husband, Pastor Almon, of Queensbury; one brother, Dale Parrish and his companion, Evie, of Argyle; and several nieces, nephew and cousins. Sullivan, Martha Lorraine Glens Falls -- Martha Lorraine Sullivan, 79, of Glens Falls passed away Friday, July 8, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born Oct. 10, 1925, in Hackensack, N.J., she was the daughter of the late George U. and Martha M. (Prusack) Schaefer. Lorraine was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Glens Falls. She graduated from South Glens Falls High School, Class of 1943. Lorraine retired in 1991, from St. Mary's Church after 18 years of dedicated service as a secretary of religious education. She was a member of the Glens Falls Senior Citizens, enjoyed old movies, crocheting and walking but her greatest joy was the time spent with her family. Besides her parents, Lorraine was also predeceased by her husband, P. Francis Sullivan, who passed away Feb. 19, 1982; and her sister, Eleanor Hogan. Survivors include her sons, Kevin Sullivan and his wife, Karen, of Glens Falls, and Paul Sullivan and his wife, Susan, of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Michael LaPan and his companion, Kristi Plunkett, Eric LaPan and his wife, Kathy, Shelby LaPan, Amy Sullivan, Shannon Sullivan, Katelynne Sullivan, Kerry Sullivan, Kasey Sullivan and Kiley Sullivan; great- grandchildren, Sydney LaPan, Leilah Mariposa, Hesperos Mariposa, and Corwyn LaPan, Camille LaPan; two nieces, Patricia O'Connor and her husband, Michael, and Margaret Chadwick and her husband, Richard, all of Glens Falls. "Mike" PLATTSBURGH -- Richard T. "Mike" Thompson, 80, of the Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh, and formerly of the Thompson Road, Keeseville, died unexpectedly, Thursday, July 7, 2005, at his home. He was born in AuSable Chasm, Aug. 11, 1924, the son of Thomas H. and Winfred M. (Reed) Thompson. He served in the United States Army during World War II, from July 9, 1943, until his honorable discharge, Feb. 4, 1946. Mike began his career, May 1, 1947, as a forest ranger with the New York State Department of Conservation, where he worked for many years. He was also a CPR instructor. He married Catherine A. Jarvis, March 4, 1989, at the Peru Community Church. Mike was a member of AuSable River Lodge No. 149 Free and Accepted Masons, the Peru Community Church, and the 10th Mountain Division Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing the organ, singing in the church choir, and especially visiting with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Catherine A. (Jarvis) Thompson of Plattsburgh; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Kathleen Thompson of Seeley Lake, Mont., and Jeff and Cheryl Thompson of Williamsburg, Pa.; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mike Maloney of Keeseville; two stepsons and spouses, Robert and Julie Thompson of Candiac, Quebec, and Gary Donna Thompson of Odenton, Md.; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Grace Thompson of Portland, Maine; 17 grandchildren, Elizabeth Maloney, Melinda White, and Casey, Corey, Kelly, Ryan, Robert, Brent, Heather, Melanie, James, Jason, Jacob, Melody, Joshua, Joseph, and Josiah Thompson; and several great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; first wife, June (Barton) Thompson; and a brother, Roger Thompson. Veal, 72, of Victory Mills passed away from complications following cardiac failure at Saratoga Hospital on Wednesday, night, July 6, 2005. Mr. Veal was born in Montgomery, Ala., on Oct. 16, 1932. He was the son of the late Joe Francis and Lettie Janette Plymel Veal. He grew up in Fitzgerald, Ga., and enlisted in the Air Force military service at age 18 where he served 20 years before retiring. He had been employed at Ford Motor Co. in Green Island, N.Y. until his early retirement due to cardiac problems. Mr. Veal is survived by his wife, Lillian Donnelly Veal, formerly of Troy, whom he married in 1953; his remaining four siblings in Fitzgerald, Ga.; five of his six children, son, Richard Veal of El Paso, Texas, a son, Patrick Veal, daughters, Judith Kopa, Tracy Ricker, and Kathleen Veal, all of the local area; grandchildren, Sherrie Veal Busch and her husband, Jeff Busch, Madeline Veal, Amy Bombard, Daina Melonowski, and Devan Hildebrandt, locally and Christopher and Daniel Veal of Washington state; and an infant great-granddaughter, Fiona Bombard. Young, 69, a resident of Lampman Road, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at his home. Born Aug. 7, 1935, in New York City, he was the son of Russell and Isabelle O'Shaughnassy Young. Russell was a retired machinist for the General Electric Company in Schenectady. His enjoyments were boating and his pets. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a wife, Gloria; and a brother, Robert Young. Survivors are his wife, Alexandra Young; his children, Bruce, Brian, Allen, Douglas, Linda, and JoAnn Young; stepchildren, Loi Seymour, Alexandra Truax, and Marthe Dean; brother, Thomas Young; sisters, Eleanor Paris and Dorothy Hattlee; and several grandchildren.
