Born March 28, 1979, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Patrick and Cheryl (La Voy) Collins. Daniel graduated from St. Mary's/St. Alphonsus School in 1993, and from South Glens Falls High School in 1997. One of Daniel's many enjoyments was skydiving. Daniel was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Patrick G. Collins, and his maternal grandfather, Arthur E. La Voy. Besides his parents, he is survived by his brother, Lance Corporal Ryan P. Collins, of the United States Marine Corps; his maternal grandmother, Lorraine V. Knapp of South Glens Falls; his paternal grandmother, Joan Collins of Glens Falls; his maternal uncles, Alan La Voy of Phoenix, Ariz., and Gary La Voy and his wife, Anne, of Bolton Landing; his paternal uncles, Geoffrey Collins of Glens Falls, Christopher Collins and his wife, Lynne, of Bolton Landing, Mark Collins of Glens Falls, Timothy Collins and his wife, Colleen, of Queensbury, and Tony Collins of Glens Falls; his dogs, Otis and Jada, and several cousins and friends. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Glens Falls. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:15 a.m. Monday, July 18, at St. Michael's The Archangel Catholic Church, South Glens Falls. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls. At the family's request, flowers be omitted, and donations may be made in Daniel's name to the Moreau Emergency Squad, Inc., 1593 Route 9, Fort Edward, NY 12828-9433, or to St. Mary's/St. Alphonsus Regional Catholic School, 10 Church St., Glens Falls, NY 12801. WHITEHALL -- James R. Neddo, 35, of North Williams Street, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 14, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on April 18, 1970, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Phillip and Barbara (Gordon) Neddo. He attended Whitehall High School and received his GED. James enjoyed various types of fishing, hunting and spending time with his two sons. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Evangeline Neddo, and his maternal grandfather, Robert Gordon. Besides his parents of Whitehall, he is survived by two sons, Jaykob Neddo and Shane Smith, both of Whitehall; one sister, Renee Neddo of Whitehall; one brother, Mark Neddo and his wife, Melanie, of Rotterdam; his maternal grandmother, Eileen Gordon of Whitehall; two nieces, Brittany Lyman of Whitehall and Micaela Neddo of Rotterdam; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall. The time of the service will be announced on Wednesday, July 20, in the funeral notices. Following the memorial service, a reception will be held at the American Legion Post No. 83 in Whitehall. Smatko, Geraldine FORT EDWARD -- Geraldine Smatko, 82, a former resident of McCrea Street, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2005, at Pleasant Valley Health Center, Argyle. Born in Fort Edward on June 29, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Lucien and Harriet (Knickerbocker) Gannon. Geraldine enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She also enjoyed visiting with her neighbors. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph G. Smatko, who passed away in December of 1988; three brothers: Earl, Leonard, and John Gannon; two sisters, Frances Osgood and Evelyn Cummings. Survivors include a son, Daniel Smatko and his wife, Kathy, of Fort Edward; a daughter, JoAnn Taylor and her husband, Bernard, of Fort Edward; four grandchildren: Corey Taylor and his companion, Gail Patterson, and her daughter, Gabraella, of Queensbury, Jason Taylor and his wife, Lisa, of South Glens Falls, Adam Smatko and his wife, Colleen, of Greenfield Center, and Eric Smatko and his wife, Jessica, of Fort Edward; five great-grandchildren: Sydney and Madison Taylor of South Glens Falls, Ashley and Zackary Smatko of Fort Edward and Amanda Mevic of Greenfield Center; a brother, James Gannon and his wife, Phoebe, of Fort Edward; three sisters, Harriet Smatko and her husband, Andrew, of Queensbury, Phyllis Smith of Fort Edward, and Barbara MacPherson and her husband, Minor, of Appleton, Wis.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Monday, July 18, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Xavier, administrator of St. Joseph Church, Fort Edward, officiating. Pallbearers will be her four grandsons: Corey and Jason Taylor and Adam and Eric Smatko. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fort Edward.
