LAKE LUZERNE -- Rita A. Cronin, of Gage Hill Road, died Tuesday morning, July 26, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, with her daughter reading to her and her husband holding her hand. Born in Coldwater, N.Y., she was the daughter of William E. and Mary (Uhl) Schichler. She married Harold "Harry" Cronin on Jan. 30, 1954, in Rochester. Rita owned and operated Harry & Rita's Fish Fry in East Greenbush. Rita and Harry were the original owners of Cronin's Ranch House in Lake Luzerne. Following the sale of the Ranch House, she worked at the Knotty Pine Diner in Lake Luzerne. She was a tireless volunteer for the veterans in the tri-county area. She was a life member of the William J. Varney American Legion Post No. 862 Auxiliary and a life member of the Hudson Sacandaga V.F.W. Post No. 5836 Auxiliary, Hadley. She enjoyed volunteering at the Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany. Rita enjoyed flowers and watching the wildlife, especially the birds. She was predeceased by her parents; one sister, Margaret Graham; four brothers: William J. Schichler, Frederick E. Schichler, Robert Schichler, and Anthony Benedict Schichler. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Harry Cronin; one daughter, Diane Cronin of Lake Luzerne; a grand- kitty, Fluffy, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne, with the Rev. Thomas Parsons, pastor of Rockwell Falls Presbyterian Church, Lake Luzerne, officiating. Burial will be at Luzerne Cemetery, Lake Luzerne. Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where members of the William J. Varney American Legion Post No. 862 Auxiliary and Hudson Sacandaga V.F.W. Gomez, Luella Mae ARGYLE -- Luella Mae Gomez, 71, of West Valley Road, died Monday, July 25, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on March 20, 1934, in Wolcott, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Burton and Dorothy (Grant) Phelps. Luella was employed for 20 years at the Highland Acres Convalescent Home, as a certified nurse assistant, where she was a loving caregiver. Luella, "Mimi," raised nine children, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, decorating for the holidays, and was a great cook. Besides her parents, Luella was predeceased by her brother, Olan Phelps, of Vermont. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, David Gomez Sr.; her sons: Andy of Norfolk, Conn., Timmy of Winsted, Conn., David Jr. of Norfolk, Conn., Dennis of Colebrook, Conn., Dwain of Argyle, Aaron of Winsted, Conn., and Greg Gomez of Hebron; her daughters, Monica Cole of Phoenix, Ariz., and Tammy Gomez, of Canaan, Conn.; her sisters, Lillian Byrnes, Dotty Graves, Clover Towne, and Carm Belisle, all of Vermont; her brothers, Eddy, Loyd, Dale, and Roland Phelps, all of Vermont; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Green, 89, of Covered Wagon Court, Ballston Spa, died Monday, July 25, at her granddaughter's home. She was born in Addison, Vt. on Feb. 9, 1916. Leona was a waitress and cook at many restaurants including the former Mooney's Restaurant in Glens Falls. She enjoyed gambling and never missed opening day at Saratoga Race Course. Leona was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Green, and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children: Louise Coonradt of Saratoga Springs, Betty (Alden) Armer of Ballston Spa, Mary Garrett of Alaska, Van Cangey of Saratoga Springs, Cathy Sarkany of Alabama, Kenneth Green of Florida, and Patricia (James) Robinson of Glens Falls; and her daughter-in-law, Rita Green of Alabama. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. QUEENSBURY -- Keith W. LaMora, 38, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 25, 2005, at his home. Born on Oct. 7, 1966, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Garry and Lois (Brown) LaMora, Sr. Keith was employed at ICON in Latham at the time of his death. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, fishing gardening and canoeing. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.. Keith was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Elmer Brown, and his paternal grandparents, Henry G. LaMora and Evelyn LaMora. Everett loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed the outdoors, and his animals. He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Bob Safford; his sister, Helen Safford; his granddaughter, Christina Anna Safford; his nephew, Ernie Safford, and his niece, Geri Safford. Scott, 84, died peacefully at his home in North Fryeburg, Maine, on Saturday, July 23, 2005. He was born Nov. 8, 1920, in Queensbury, the son of John and Catherine Siaulnski. In the late 1940s, he legally changed his name. John resided in Maine since 1970. John ran a dairy farm on Scott Road in North Hebron prior to moving to Maine. He and his sister, Kay, co-authored and published a book, "Treasure of the Squeaky Wheel," some time ago. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Stephen Siaulnski; and two sisters, Helen Kurys and Kay Buttles. Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Frances (Hall) Scott, of North Fryeburg, Maine; two sons, Timothy and his wife, Julie, of Norman, Okla., and Stephen and his wife, Lois, of North Fryeburg, Maine; a daughter, Sarah Smith and her husband, Robert, of Mims, Fla. Other survivors are grandchildren: John Scott and his wife, Leann, Atarah Morin and her husband, Fabian, and Willie Scott; two step-grandchildren, Thunder and Samson Goode; a sister, Vivian Karpinski; and nieces and nephews. John leaves two great-grandchildren, Iris and Caine Morin, and grandpa's buddy girl and Buddy. There will be no services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Smith, 74, of Jenkinsville Road, passed away on Wednesday evening, July 20, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, after a short illness. Shirley was born on July 14, 1931, and grew up in Fort Ann. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Gertrude (Yarter) Walker of Fort Ann. She graduated from the Fort Ann High School in the Class of 1949. Shirley was also a graduate of Albany Business College. Her employment included the Prudential Insurance Company and Glens Falls Hospital. She left the hospital so that she could be a dedicated wife and mother. Her passions included horses, gardening, traveling, skiing and tennis. Shirley enjoyed her daily walks around the block and talking to her neighbors. She also enjoyed her weekly line-dancing class at the Moreau Community Center. She also had a special love of the great outdoors. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Clyde E. Smith of Queensbury; her children, Gregory Smith and his wife, Michele, of Placerville, Calif., Cindy Smith of Brookfield, Conn., and Alicia Butler and her husband, David, of South Glens Falls; her four grandchildren, Jessica and Trevor Smith of Placerville, Calif., and Davin and Dylan Butler of South Glens Falls; her brothers, Leon Walker and his wife, Sally, and Raymond Walker, all of Fort Ann; her sister-in-law, Joyce Smith and her husband, Dave, of Hudson Falls; her nieces and nephews; and her close family friend, Leslie Costa of Brookfield, Conn. A memorial service, with reception to follow, will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2005, at the family home, located at 42 Jenkinsville Road in the town of Queensbury. SCHROON LAKE -- Kenneth J. VanderWiele Jr., 27, of River Road, Schroon Lake, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 24, 2005. Born July 15, 1978, in Ridgewood, N.J., he was the son of Kenneth J. and Anita Laauwe VanderWiele Sr. Ken was a graduate of Schroon Lake Central School and Adirondack Community College. He was employed as a delivery truck driver for Mountain Petroleum in Schroon Lake. Ken was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship in Olmstedville. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, NASCAR racing, and was a wonderful and beloved son, husband and father. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Adrian and Madeline Laauwe, and his infant sister, Sandra Beth VanderWiele. Ken is survived by his wife, Jenifer Bush VanderWiele; his children, Shane Eliot and Kayla Paige VanderWiele; his sisters, Kristen Kojeszewski and her husband, Keith, of Bartonsville, Pa. and Karen VanderWiele of Saranac Lake; his paternal grandparents, Ken and Esther VanderWiele of Schroon Lake; his father and mother-in-law, Ernie and Linda Bush; his sisters and brothers-in-laws; Amy, Emily, Laura, Kevin and Anthony Bush of Sussex, N.J.; two nieces; one nephew; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
