GRANVILLE -- Homer J. Daigle, 75, died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at Pleasant Valley Infirmary following an extended illness. Born Sept. 13, 1929, in Lyndonville, Vt., he was the son of Ernest and Rose Anna (Hamel) Daigle. Homer was self-employed in the heating and plumbing business for 40 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a communicate of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Homer was an outdoors enthusiast and a member of the Granville Rotary Club. Two children, Linda Daigle Jones and Gary Daigle, three brothers, Albert Daigle, Lucian Daigle and Alfred Daigle, and one sister, Betty Straw, all died before him. Survivors include his wife, Judith (Carr) Daigle, of Granville; six sons: Lawrence Daigle and his wife, Linda, Dwayne Daigle and his wife, Elaine, and Mike Daigle, all of Granville, Todd Daigle of Rhode Island, Mark Daigle and his wife, Jean, of West Burke, Vt. and Jay Daigle of Tennessee; three daughters, Barbara Arquette and her husband, Lyn, of Fort Edward, Vicky Hale and her husband, Steve, of Granville, and Karen Campbell and her husband, Terry, of South Royalton, Vt.; one brother, Ronald Daigle and his wife, Rachel, of Granville; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 23 Bulkley Ave., Granville, with the Rev. Thomas Zelker presiding. The Rite of Committal will be at Oakwood Cemetery, South Granville. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville. Donovan, Lena Ruth CHILSON -- Lena Ruth Donovan, 98, of Middle Chilson Road, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the Indian River Nursing Home of Granville. Born in Chilson, Aug. 6, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Nettie (Hammond) Armstrong. Mrs. Donovan was a lifelong resident of Chilson, and was a member of the Chilson Methodist Church. She owned and operated The Top of the Hill Diner in Chilson for many years. She was predeceased by her husband, James Anthony Donovan, and by one son, Jack Wisell, one daughter, Annette Donovan Olcott, and also by two brothers,George Armstrong and Vernon Armstrong. Survivors include one son, Patrick Donovan and his wife, Judy, of Ticonderoga; and one daughter, Maxine St. Claire, of Whitehall. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place at the Chilson Community Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga. Gardephe, 61, of county Route 77, died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at Northeast Center for Special Care in Kingston, after a long illness. Born in Greenwich on April 8, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy (Weeks) Parker. Shirley had many friends and they loved to sit around her table and play Yahtzee. She also enjoyed playing bingo. She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Howard Gardephe Sr., in 2004; a sister, Doris Jones, and a niece, Ann Brown. Survivors include a son, Howard Gardephe Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Greenwich; a daughter, Tammie Besanceney and her husband, David, of Greenwich; five grandchildren: Sara and Jade Gardephe, and Evan, Skyler and Gabrielle Besanceney, all of Greenwich; two brothers, Ernie Parker and his wife, Gloria, of Arizona, and Paul Parker and his wife, Sue, of Greenwich; and many nieces and nephews. At Shirley's request, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be conducted on a day and time to be announced at M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Argyle. Burial will be at Gerald B. H. Solomon National Cemetery in the town of Saratoga on a day and time to be announced. Larson, 61, of Eggleston Street, died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Jan. 14, 1944, in Middletown, she was the daughter of Martha (Easton) Brenan of Middletown and the late Thomas Brenan. Mrs. Larson graduated from Middletown High School and then graduated from Orange County Community College with a degree in nursing. She married Charles E. Larson on Dec. 27, 1964, in Middletown. The couple resided in Middletown for more than 20 years, and have lived in Corinth since 1987. Mrs. Larson was employed for many years as a registered nurse at Horton Memorial Hospital in Middletown and also worked at Adirondack Regional Hospital in Corinth for a few years. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, and mostly enjoyed being with her family. Survivors, besides her husband of 41 years and her mother, include two daughters, Susan Harris and her husband, Eric, of Wallkill, and Christine Larson-Mayaer and her husband, Carl, of Glens Falls; one brother, Robert Brenan of Buffalo; one sister, Eileen Conduzio and her husband, Arthur of Lake George; four grandchildren: Michael Garti and Thomas Garti, both of Glens Falls and Lindsey Harris and Kyle Harris, both of Wallkill; one aunt and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, at Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth, with the Rev. Richard Severson officiating. A Rite of Committal will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, town of Saratoga. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 6, at the funeral home. MacDonald, 86, of Moriah, died Friday, June 3, 2005, at Porter Hospital, Middlebury, Vt., with her children at her side. She was born on Nov. 11, 1918, to the late Frank E. and Mae (Cullen) Danaher in Syracuse. On March 28, 1948, she married Allan D. MacDonald at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Orange, N.J. Her husband predeceased her on May 30, 1993. Mrs. MacDonald was a graduate of Westport Central School and Plattsburgh Normal School. She began her teaching career in Mineville in 1941, and retired from Moriah Central School in June 1984. She was a charter member of Sewing Club, secretary of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Elizabethtown-Westport Garden Club, the Moriah Central School Retired Teachers, The New York State Retired Teachers Association and the Red Hat Society. Mrs. MacDonald is survived by her four daughters: Mrs. Gail (George) Pilger of Moriah, Mrs. Allison (Michael) Sharrow of South Glens Falls, Mrs. Jean (Rory) Frazee of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Patricia (David) Hudson of South Glens Falls; one son, Allan D. (Susan) MacDonald of Nashua, N.H.; and six grandchildren: Michael and David Sharrow, Rebecca Hudson, Ariella, Julianne, and Keenan MacDonald. She is also survived by four sisters: Emily Mascola, Genevieve Petricelli, and Frances Whek, all of Toms River, N.J. and Audrey Kole of West Orange, N.J.; two brothers, Nicholas Liguori of Phoenix, Ariz. and Frank E. Danaher of Hamburg, N.J.; one cousin, James Danaher of East Weymouth, Mass, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Kristin Margaret Pilger; her sister, Irene Cullen Deeb, and her stepmother, Mildred Danaher. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, June 5, at Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Church. Born July 6, 1916, in Chestertown, she was the daughter of the late Jennie Littlefield. Marjorie was employed for several years at General Electric Co. Fort Edward, was then co-owner of Dave's Sizzling Steaks, Glens Falls, and later, co-owner of Cloud Nine Bar, South Glens Falls. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Primeau Sr., and her brother, Charles Littlefield. Survivors include several stepgrandchildren; her special companion, Fido the cat; many friends in the area, and one special friend, Helen Manel, of South Glens Falls. There will be no calling hours at Marjorie's request. Services will be at the convenience of the family.
