QUEENSBURY -- Bernice M. Beaman, 95, of Queensbury, died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital following a short illness. Born on Feb. 14, 1910, in Oneida, she was the daughter of Lewis and Anna (Martin) Morrison. Mrs. Beaman graduated from high school in Sherrill, N.Y., and from Cornell University in 1930, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She taught French and Latin, prior to her marriage, in 1932, to the late Orson C. Beaman. Mrs. Beaman was a longtime member of Christ Church United Methodist, Glens Falls, and an active member of the Glens Falls Hospital Guild for 50 years. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara S. Beaman of Ipswich, Mass., and Elizabeth A. King of Kyoto, Japan; four grandchildren: Amani King of San Francisco, Tashi King and her husband, Nicholas Melillo, of New Haven, Conn., and Esteli, Nicaragua, Marcos Beaman of Beverly, Mass., and Daniel Beaman of Worcester, Mass.; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, June 17, at the Chapel Lounge at Christ Church United Methodist, 54 Bay St., Glens Falls. Burial will be at Pine View Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Burrows, 93, of Crown Point, passed away Monday, June 13, 2005, at Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga. She has resided with her daughter Barbara since December 2003. Born in Ticonderoga, Oct. 6, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Delia (Wood) Keast. Mrs. Burrows was a lifelong resident of Crown Point and a member of the Crown Point Order of the Eastern Star, of which she was a past matron. She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Burrows Jr., on Feb. 26, 1992. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara French and her husband, Fred, of Crown Point, and Beverly Tesar and her husband, Milton, of Crown Point; one sister, Mildred Spinosa of Albany; and six grandchildren: Lisa Marie Lombardi and her husband, Frank, of Metamora, Ill., Becki Marie French and her friend, Raymond Smith, of Boston, Mass., Beth Kroll of Cooper City, Fla., Brett Thompson of Moriah, Brian Thompson of California, and Bradley Thompson of Moriah. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. Goodspeed, 80, of Maple Street, passed away Monday, June 13, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, after a brief illness. Born on Dec.14, 1924, in Pittsfield, Mass., he was the son of the late Albert and Margaret (Durkee) Goodspeed. He enlisted in the Naval Reserve at the age of 17. On July 4, 1951, he married Marian DeLong at the First Baptist Church in Hudson Falls. Wyman worked for Finch, Pruyn & Co. Inc., in Glens Falls, and then AC Warner and Warner Pruyn, formerly located in Queensbury. He then worked for Leland Paper in Glens Falls and finally Griffin Lumber Co. in Hudson Falls. He enjoyed woodworking projects but his greatest love was spending time with his family, especially at their Summit Lake camp. In addition to his wife of nearly 54 years, Marian D. Goodspeed of Hudson Falls, he is survived by a son, Lawrence R. Goodspeed and his wife, Karen, of Hudson Falls; and two grandchildren, Jason R. Goodspeed of Malone, and Linda A. Howenstein, Maude M. CORINTH -- Maude M. Howenstein, 99, of Oak Street, died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital following a brief illness. Born on June 18, 1905, in Corinth, she was the daughter of the late Hartwell and Eunice (Steadman) MacDonald. Maude graduated from Corinth High School as valedictorian in 1923. She continued her education at the State University at Oneonta and had a lifetime career as a schoolteacher, mother and grandmother, retiring from Corinth Central Schools in 1969. She married Harold C. "Howie" Howenstein and the couple resided on Oak Street in Corinth for many years. He died before her. Maude was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Corinth and a longtime member of the Bible study group. Always a devout Christian, she was an inspiration to all who knew her. Besides her husband and her parents, one son, Buddy, died before her. Survivors include one son, Bill and his wife, Judy, of Corinth; one daughter, Judy Maciariello and her husband, Joseph, of Claremont, Calif.; her longtime friend and caretaker, Betty Vaughn, of Corinth; six grandsons: Joey Maciariello and Patrick Maciariello, B.J. Howenstein and Jim Howenstein and his wife, Laura, Steve Cousineau and his wife, Sue, and Richard Cousineau and his wife, Janet; three granddaughters: Teri Morrow and her husband, Rick, Greta Siddiqui and her husband, Zarig, and Renee Brown and her husband, Peter; and great-grandchildren: Alexander and Olivia Morrow, Ellen, Jake, and Meg Siddiqui, and Kaitlyn and Cameron Cousineau, and Reese and Sydney Cousineau, and Alexa Brown. Mitchell, 88, of Brundige Road, Valley Falls, passed away Sunday night, June 12, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital following a short illness. Born Jan. 3, 1917, in Pittsfield, Mass., she was the daughter of the late William & Lillian (Wesler) Mitchell. She attended and graduated from Burnt Hills and Ballston Lake Central School Systems. She married the late Roger Mitchell in 1935, and later had four children. Doris had many interests including reading, word finds, knitting, crocheting, sewing and get-togethers around the campfire with friends and family. She passed on those interests to her children and grandchildren. She was also very famous for her New England clam chowder she provided for all the cookouts. Besides her parents and late husband, her brothers, Art, Willard, and Charles "Charlie" Slider; one sister, Bertha Culp; and one daughter, Patricia "Patty" Mitchell, all predeceased her. Leaving behind a large family who will miss her very much are her children, Donald Mitchell and his wife, Ruth, of Athol, William "Bill" Mitchell, of Valley Falls, and Dennis Mitchell, also of Valley Falls; several grandchildren, Chris Mitchell, Pat Mitchell, Kelly Imrie, Stacey Fusco, Scotty Mitchell, William "Willie" Mitchell, Keisha Mitchell, Brandy Mitchell, Allison Mitchell; and stepgrandchildren, Vicki Smith, Cheri Smith, Heather Smith and Christine Smith; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillian "Wanda" Gleech and her husband, Ralph, of Malta. Hebert Mollnow, 73, of Doty Avenue, beloved wife of Otto L. Mollnow, died on Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Born on July 28, 1931, in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd J. and Ann M. Schilling Hebert Sr., and was educated at Catholic Central High School. Mrs. Mollnow retired in 1979 from the Highgate Manor in Pleasantdale, where she had been a nurses aide, and was previously employed at Wood's Nursing Home in Melrose. She was the devoted mother of Paul R. (Joy) Mollnow of East Greenwich, Joseph L. (Sally) Mollnow of Easton, Margaret Mollnow of Troy and Ernest J. (Anne Marie) Mollnow of Cohoes; sister of Lloyd J. Hebert Jr. of Albany; twin of John F. "Jack" Hebert of Clearwater, Fla., Paul (Jean) Hebert and Paula (Walter) Moran, all of Speigletown. She is also survived by six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 8:15 a.m. from the John J. Napier, 66, of Schenectady, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Ellis Hospital after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer. Born at home in Moriah, on March 4, 1939, he attended Schenectady Public Schools, graduating with the last class of Nott Terrace High School in 1957. Bill was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, becoming an Explorer, and attaining the level of Eagle Scout. He was also an avid competitor in model airplane competitions. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. In the late '60s, he became interested in bobsledding and joined the Amateur Athletic Union. He was the founder and president of the Capital District Bobsled Club and competed in national and international races as a driver of both 2-man and 4-man bobsled teams. He was the past president of the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation, a past member of the U.S. Olympic Committee and coach and jury member of The International Organization FIBT. Most currently, he was involved with coaching the U.S. National Development Bobsled Team and was recognized by the New York State Assembly for accomplishments and achievements in bobsledding in 1984. Bill was a chief range officer, belonged to the Woodlawn Sportsman Club, and was also a member of the Lake George Power Squadron. He was previously employed by AT&T, Digital Equipment Corp. and Compaq as a networking specialist. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Betsy," his daughter, Margaret "Meg," and his son, John, all of Schenectady; his sister, Charlene, of upstate New York; his brother, Harvey "Skip" of Rotterdam; his parents, Harvey and Margaret Napier of Schenectady; his aunt, Mary Croken of Aztec, N.M.; and several nieces, nephews, a great-niece and great-nephews. His maternal grandparents, Steve and Julia Vargo, and a niece, Kathleen Pump, predeceased him. Published in the Post-Star on 6/14/2005. O'Dell, Elsie M. LAKE LUZERNE -- Elsie M. O'Dell, age 89, of Church Street, died at home Monday morning, June 13, 2005. Born on Jan. 12, 1916, in Lake Luzerne, she was the daughter of Orson and Pansie (Hoyt) Dean. She attended Hadley-Luzerne Central School. Elsie married Lester O'Dell on June 28, 1936, in Lake Luzerne. They lived in Lake George for 52 years. Mr. O'Dell died on June 23, 1988. Following his death, Elsie moved to Lake Luzerne. She worked for many years as a housekeeper prior to her retirement in the early 1990s. Elsie enjoyed embroidery and gardening. She had a special "green thumb," especially with African violets. She was a member of the Tri-Town Seniors. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Edith Freed and Grace Luce and one brother, William Dean. Survivors include one son, Robert Dean and his wife, Robyn, of Lake George; one brother, Gilmour Dean of Lake Luzerne; one niece, Linda Gavin of Michigan; and six nephews: Charles F. Luce, Charles A. "Chuck" CORINTH -- Charles B. "Chuck" Pacco, 87, died in his sleep Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa, where he resided the past three years with his wife of 61 years, the former Mary Agnes Mooney of Glens Falls. Born to the late Agnes Cohan Pacco and Charles P. Pacco on April 17, 1918, he was a graduate of Corinth Public School and a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Chuck was a papermaker for 21 years for International Paper Company in Corinth; his IP service was interrupted by military duty in the early 1940s. He was perhaps best known for his lengthy career in the New York state credit union movement. After the current Hudson River Community Credit Union was organized in 1954, Chuck was elected treasurer, serving from January 1955 until December 2001, when he decided to step down due to poor health. Chuck also served as manager of Hudson River Community Credit from June of 1957 until his retirement in June of 1982. He served on the HRCCU Board of Directors from 1954 to 2001. In addition, Church served as president of the Board of Directors for Excelsior Credit Union, Albany, from 1978 to 1998. Chuck served as Director for the Adirondack District Credit Unions, 1958 to 1975. He was a member of the former New York Founders Club and served as a National Director in the credit union movement. For his service with the New York state Credit Union League as vice president (1972 to 1974) and president (1975 to 1976), he was granted Honorary and Ex-Official League president status. In culmination of his many years of dedication to the growth and development of credit unions and the credit union movement, Chuck was inducted into the New York State Credit Union Hall of Fame in 2003. Chuck, aside from his many duties as a credit union official, had been active in community affairs for much of his life. He was a charter member, Paul Harris Fellow, past president, vice president, secretary and treasurer of the Corinth Rotary Club; a member of the Saratoga Lodge, 161, B.P.O.E. Elks; member of the former Selective Service Board of Saratoga; and past member of the town of Corinth Planning Board. He was also an avid sportsman, serving as past president of the Brookhaven Golf Club, Corinth; past member of the McGregor-Links Country Club, Wilton; past president of the Eastern New York Golf Association and recognized as Senior of the Year in 1991; charter member, past president, past secretary/treasurer for 48 years for Glens Falls Bowling Association, American Bowling Congress, and in 1977, inducted into the Glens Falls Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Survivors besides his wife, Mary, include his daughter, Jeanne Marie Pacco of Groveland, Calif.; a son, Richard C. Pacco of San Diego, Calif.; daughter, Carol Ann Pacco-Long of Greenfield Center and her husband, Donald, and stepson, David and his wife, Rebecca, and their children, Hannah and Mikaela; daughter, Loraine E. VanAuken of Corinth and her husband, Harold, and her children, Nicole and Brittany Colson; son Paul J. Pacco of Corinth and his wife, Kathy and their son, Matthew. Stevens, of Concord Drive, died Sunday, June 12, 2005, after a long illness. He was 67. Born on April 8, 1938, in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Lewis V. and Blanche (Kelleher) Stevens. He was a 1955 graduate of St. Peter's Academy on South Broadway and St. Michael's College in Winooski, Vt. Mr. Stevens was employed by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce for 25 years, serving as chamber vice president of On The Job Training Program (Private Industry Council). He served on many boards and committees including the Board of Directors of Unlimited Potential and co-founder of the Bartenders Ball. He also volunteered on many fund-raising events for the Saratoga YMCA, SPAC, the Saratoga Hospital golf tournament and St. Clement's Horse Show. He was a member of St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church and a member and past exalted ruler of Saratoga-Wilton Lodge 161 B.P.O. Elks and had been involved for many years with the city's Biddy Basketball program and St. Peter's Alumni Association. He enjoyed golf, playing handball, was an avid reader and enjoyed rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Jane (Koch) Stevens; his daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly A. Beierlein and her husband, John, of Middle Grove, Hannah S. and Joseph Christopher and their children, Henry and Jack of Hoosick Falls; two sons, Andrew Stevens, his wife, Debbie, and their children, Zachary and Jessica of Plainfield, Mass., and John L.
