Debby was born on April, 26, 1984, in Glens Falls, and was the daughter of Davene Sheridan Brown and Gerald R. Brown. Debby was a member of Vermont chapter of International Flying Farmers, Vermont National Barrel Horse Association, American Professional Rodeo Association, and was a certified horseback riding instructor. She loved training and riding horses and was an accomplished horsewoman. She was proud of the fact she soloed a single engine land airplane on her 16th birthday and obtained her private pilot's license on her 17th birthday. Debby graduated from Long Trail School in Dorset, Vt. She was a senior french and communications major at Bridgewater College, Bridgewater, Va. She spent a semester abroad in Strasbourg, France. She was predeceased by her grandfather, David Sheridan. Survivors besides her parents include a brother, Dan Brown and his fiance‚, Katherine Hill, of Hubbardton, Vt.; a sister, Amy Gauthier of Hudson Falls, and her children, Shelby, Joshua, and Christopher Gauthier; her maternal grandmother, Janet Sheridan of Argyle; her paternal grandparents, Leda and Maurice Brown of Granville; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Calling hours are at Long Trail School, 1045 Kirby Hollow Road, Dorset, Vt., from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2005. At 7 p.m., there will be a time of sharing memories to celebrate Debby's life. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2005, at the Granville United Methodist Church, at 18 Church St., Granville, with the Rev. Martin Evans-Jones, pastor, officiating. Burial services will be held for the family immediately following the service at the North Argyle Cemetery. The family will greet friends after the service at the Argyle Firehouse, Route 40, Argyle. Durkin, 66, of Burdick Avenue, passed away Friday, June 17, 2005, at Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Queensbury following a long illness. Born on March 24, 1939, in Lake George, she was the daughter of the Lena (Ingraham) Squires of North Creek and the late Vernon Squires. Mary married Roger T. Durkin on March 20, 1958. He passed away Nov. 20, 2001. She was a nurses' aide at Westmount Health Facility in Queensbury and the Warren County Residential Hall in Warrensburg for many years. Mary enjoyed ceramics and was past Noble Grand of the former Hackensack Rebekah Lodge 442 in Warrensburg. Besides her father, Vernon Squires, her sisters, Beverly Pavelich and Sally Hermance, a brother, Charles A. Squires, a grandson, Joseph Hammond, and a special family friend, Barbara Hurley, have also predeceased her. Survivors besides her mother, Lena Squires, include her four children: Ray Durkin and his wife, Lori, of Warrensburg; Tina Durkin of Argyle, Roger Durkin Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of Warrensburg; and Terry Durkin of Queensbury; two grandsons, Brian Hammond of Bakers Mills and Stephen Hammond of Glens Falls; three granddaughters: Judi and Jennifer Durkin, both of Warrensburg, and Dixie Durkin of Glens Falls; one great- granddaughter, Amber Durkin; two brothers, Jerry Squires and his wife, Joan, of Florida, and Rudolph Squires and his wife, Denise, of Warrensburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Warrensburg Cemetery, with Sister Linda Hogan of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Ellsworth, Gyle Courtney GLENS FALLS -- Gyle Courtney Ellsworth, 84, of Cortland Street, passed away Monday morning, June 20, 2005, at the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Queensbury, following a long illness. Born in Glens Falls, on March 24, 1921, he was the third son of Samuel and Amelia (Chapman) Ellsworth. Following graduation from Glens Falls High School, Gyle served in the United States Army in Central Europe during World War II. His Declarations and Citations earned were the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal being honorably discharged in December of 1945. A lifetime resident of Glens Falls, Gyle worked at Ciba-Geigy, formerly Hercules and Imperial, in various departments, for more than 40 years. His many interests included camping, travel, fishing, hunting, carpentry, genealogy, and collecting antique wood working tools. He was a skilled craftsman. His memberships include the Veterans of Foreign Wars Queensbury Post No. 6196, the American Legion Post No. 1797, and the BPOE Elks Lodge No. 81. Besides his parents, his only son, Gyle Gary Ellsworth, who passed away in July of 1995, and his two brothers, Virgil and Carl Ellsworth, all predeceased him. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Ella Gwinn Ellsworth; one daughter, Ruth Jeanette Woods of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two granddaughters, Laura Woods and Sarah Ellsworth, both of California; three grandsons, Bobby Woods of Seattle, Wash., Matthew Ellsworth and Jessie Ellsworth, both of California. At Gyle's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Giles, Charles Daniel SALEM -- Charles Daniel Giles, 84, a former resident of Salem, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2005, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va., from injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident. He was born on July 3, 1920, in Glens Falls, and was the son of the late Ernest and Blanche (Sedgewick) Giles. Mr. Giles was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army Air Force where he received a good conduct medal. In October of 2004, he moved to Virginia to be closer to his daughter. He was a former deacon of the Durkeetown Baptist Church in Fort Edward. His hobbies included working on cars, old cars, trains, reading, gardening, printing press and church activities. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Myrtle Giles, who passed away in 1996; and two sisters, Verna Giles and Ernestine Giles. Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Giles, of Stephens City, Va. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 23, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Durkeetown Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Prater, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Glens Falls Cemetery. Chestertown -- Ronald H. Gill, 87, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born Sept 12, 1917, in White Pine Mine, Mich., he was the son of the late William and Clara (Hooper) Gill. Mr. Gill was a retired screw machine operator for Newtown Manufacturing of Newtown, Conn. After he retired, he went to work for 10 years with his son at Ron Gill Well Drilling of Chestertown. As a young man, he worked in the CC Camps. Mr. Gill was a member of the Morning Star lodge No. 47 Free and Accepted Masons of Seymour, Conn., and Baldwin Chapter No. 13 Royal Arch Masons of Stratford, Conn., for more than 56 years. His hobbies include wood-working, silver smithing and traveling. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Gill was predeceased by one brother, Stanley Gill; two sisters, Clarice Pope and Pearl Schimpf. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Janet Lewis Gill of Chestertown, whom he married Oct. 5, 1940; three sons, Ronald L. Gill and his wife, Priscilla, of Chestertown, David Gill and his wife, Elizabeth, of Madison, Conn., Roger Gill and his wife, Susan, of Chestertown; nine grandchildren, Barbara Hill and her partner, David House of Chestertown, Jodi McAvey and her husband, Lawrence, of Chestertown, Keith Gill of Brussels, Belgium, David Gill and his partner, Michelle, of New Hampshire, Jason Gill of Boulder, Colo., Kerry-Ann Osterhout and her husband, Thad, of Belize, Mexico, Roger Gill Jr. of Lake Tahoe, Calif., Jessica Hamblin and her husband, Todd, of Chestertown, and Jeremy Gagnon and his wife, Emily, of Cape Cod, Mass. Hicks passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Pleasant Valley Infirmary in Argyle with her niece, Bonnie Prehoda, at her side. Dorothy was born on April 17, 1916, in Middle Granville, and was the daughter of Wilbur and Stella (Jones) Hall. She and her husband, Clifford, operated Hicks Orchard for many years together. Dorothy was the widow of Clifford Hicks. Also predeceasing her are a son, Stanley Hicks, a daughter, Mary Hicks, six brothers: Austin, Mason, Herbert, Willfred, Stanley and Leo Hall; and five sisters: Marguerite Lee, Ruth Leonard, Elsie Duel, Evelyn Breault, and Lillian Hall. Survivors are a son, Vernon Hicks, and his wife, Marion, of Bartlesville, Okla.; and one sister, Florence Lee of Granville; a special niece, Bonnie Prehoda of Fort Edward; three grandchildren, Tech Sgt. Keith Hicks and his wife, Tammie, Gail Hicks, and Scott Hicks; and three great- grandchildren: Amanda, Keith, and Brittany Hicks. At her request, she will be cremated and there will be no services. LaPoint, Antoinette QUEENSBURY -- Antoinette "Toni" (Catone) LaPoint, 63, of Hicks Road, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 19, 2005, at her home. Born on Sept. 23, 1941, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Diamond and Angeline (Cifone) Catone. In 1959, Antoinette graduated from Hudson Falls High School and later from the Austin Beauty School in Albany. On April 29, 1962, she married Roger A. LaPoint at St. Mary's Church in Glens Falls. He died Jan. 12, 2003, after 40 wonderful years of marriage. From the early 1970s to 2003, Antoinette was a teacher's aide at the Queensbury Union Free School District. She loved working with and helping children of all ages, during her many years in the school system. She was a communicant of St. Mary's/St. Paul's Church in Hudson Falls. Antoinette also was a member of TEOPI at Queensbury school. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. For 25 years, she organized bus trips to Atlantic City, N.J. Antoinette was an avid Yankees fan with her late husband, Roger, and also enjoyed playing cards and camping at Bulwagga Bay on Lake Champlain. Survivors include her sons, Kevin M. LaPoint and his wife, Melissa, of Queensbury and Jeffrey S. LaPoint and his wife, Debbie, of Hartford; her two grandchildren, Jasen LaPoint of Hartford and Megan LaPoint of Queensbury; her three brothers, Pasquale J. "Pat" Catone and his wife, Linda, of Queensbury, Matthew D. Catone and his fiance‚, Laurie Jurgensen, of Queensbury; and her twin brother, Anthony Catone and his wife, Margaret, of Hudson Falls; several nieces and nephews to whom she was fondly known as "Auntie", Mark Catone and his wife, Vicki, Timothy Catone, Michelle Kauffman and her husband, Gary, Tony Catone and his fiance‚, Robin Corbin, Amy Miller and her husband, Darcy, William Catone and his wife, Lisa, and Julie Lavin and her husband, James; three aunts, Mary Sexton of Fort Edward, Ursula Rabine of Glens Falls, and Rose Doherty of Wilton; one uncle, John Cifone and his wife, Lydia, of Glens Falls; and many cousins. Nicholson, 90, of Cossayuna, formerly of East Street, Fort Edward, went into the arms of the Lord Monday, June 20, 2005, at the home of his son Gene Nicholson in Hudson Falls. Born on Feb. 27, 1915, in Kingsbury, he was the son of the late Charles and Ruth (Colvin) Nicholson. Ivan grew up working on a farm, and then worked at Griffin Lumber Company for 15 years. He owned and operated his own cabinet business on Mill Street in Fort Edward and was one of the first to professionally use Formica in cabinet making. He then went on to own and operate Nicholson's Feed Service on East Street in Fort Edward for 45 years. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Tennessee. Ivan enjoyed fishing and gardening and loved politics and family genealogy. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Constance (Crannell) Nicholson, who died March 21, 2001. His daughter, Barbara Sabato; his sisters, Florence Austin and Iona Palmer; and his brothers, Charles Jr., William, Frederick, Clifford, and Horace Nicholson, also predeceased him. Published in the Post-Star on 6/21/2005. Tyrer Sr., Herbert R. LAKE GEORGE -- Herbert R. Tyrer Sr., 92, of Bloody Pond Road, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 18, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born June 13, 1913, in Albany, he was the son of the late Reginald Herbert Tyrer and Margaret (Greenaway) Tyrer. Mr. Tyrer was raised on Staten Island. He married Esther Tandberg on June 6, 1931. She died on Jan. 7, 1991. Mr. Tyrer was a U.S. Navy veteran serving with the Seabees as chief petty officer, in the Pacific, during World War II, honorably discharged in 1945. He then served with the U.S. Naval Reserve until 1953. He owned and operated several automobile and boat dealerships, including Marine Motors on Staten Island. Mr. Tyrer also had his real estate license and owned his own construction company, building homes in Staten Island and later in the Lake George area. He and his wife Esther relocated to Lake George in 1967 where he was involved in the Tuttle Real Estate Co. and his own home-building construction company. He owned and operated the King George Motel and the George Washington Motel in Lake George until he sold them in the 1970s. Mr. Tyrer was a member of the National Chief Petty Officer Association, the Warren County Sheriffs Mounted Unit, the Lake George American Legion Post 374, and the VFW, Staten Island. Mr. Tyrer enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, horseman and hunter. Mr. Tyrer enjoyed fishing on Lake George and also deep sea fishing. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson's until the 1980's. Mr. Tyrer was a member of Bend in the River Golf Club in Hadley as well as several golf clubs and social clubs in Jacksonville, Fla., where he met Ophelia Campbell. They were married on Feb. 14, 1995, in Georgia, spending half the year in Jacksonville, Fla., and half in Lake George. In 2000, they permanently settled in Lake George. Mr. Tyrer continued to be active until his death. Mr. Tyrer was predeceased by his first wife, Esther, who died on Jan. 7, 1991, and by two brothers, James and Robert Tyrer; and two sisters, Eleanore Carlson and Florence Tyrer. Survivors include his wife, Ophelia Tyrer of Lake George; one son, Robert Tyrer of Queensbury; two daughters, Irene Zabriskie of Queensbury and Suzanne Tyrer of Lake George; seven grandchildren, Stephen Tyrer and his wife, Jacqueline, of Argyle, Jennifer Jacobs and her husband, Michael, of Hinesburg, Vt., Linda Tyrer Zabriskie and her husband, Jeffrey Noble, of New York City, Michael Zabriskie and his wife, Michelle, of Derry, N.H., Daniel Zabriskie and his wife, Teresa Kang, of North Chelmsford, Mass., Kimberly Lyon and her husband, Jeremy, of Glens Falls, and Laura Tyrer of Lake George; nine great-grandchildren, Stephanie Tyrer, Michelle Meola, Heather and Sarah Jacobs, Gregory Jacobs, Ashley, Michael, Jack, and Daniel Zabriskie; one sister-in-law, Peg Tyrer of Washington, D.C.; and one nephew, Robert S.
