He was born April 22, 1963, in Holland, MI., the son of Reuben B. and Mary Ward Brown. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church of Stuarts Draft and was employed by Nibco of Stuarts Draft as a logistics manager. In addition to his parents of Columbia, S.C., he is survived by his wife, Rhonda Banks Brown; a son, Cameron Brown; a daughter, Reagan Brown; and two sisters, Lesli Darwin of Spartanburg, S.C. and Mary Anne Gilk of Columbia, S.C. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 24, at Calvary United Methodist Church, with the Rev. B. Failes officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. WHITEHALL -- Donald C. Bruce, 79, formerly of Skene Street, passed away at Glens Falls Hospital on Monday, June 20, 2005, following a long illness. Born on Jan. 13, 1926, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Henry and Mary (Baker) Bruce. Mr. Bruce was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II. After serving for over 50 years, he retired as a clerk for the Delaware & Hudson Railroad. He also was a former employee of the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the American Legion, Post No. 83 of Whitehall and a lifetime member of the Whitehall Elks Lodge No. 1491 of Whitehall. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Julia M. Bruce, who passed away on May 16, 2005; and two brothers, Claude Bruce and William Bruce. He is survived by one son, Richard H. Bruce and his wife, Kandy, of Whitehall; two grandchildren, Kerrie Gordon and her husband, Gary, of South Glens Falls, and Richard D. Bruce and his wife, Janice, of Whitehall; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Gordon, Kassidy Gordon, Jessica Bruce and Ricky Bruce; one sister, Joyce Marviglio and her husband, Charles, of Whitehall; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. today, June 23, at Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall, with the Rev. Ashley Meade, officiating. Bruce, Robert Gideon SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- Robert Gideon Bruce, 84, of Mott Road, Gansevoort and Clearwater, Fla., died Sunday, June 19, 2005, in Clearwater, Fla. Robert was born in Glens Falls on Aug. 20, 1920, to Scott D. and Ida M. (Cross) Bruce. Robert attended South Glens Falls Schools and was in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Scott Paper Co. of Fort Edward as a security guard. He was a past member of the South Glens Falls Fire Department. His hobbies were fishing, golfing and gardening. On Sept. 26, 1946, he married Edna (Graham) Bruce at the Christ Church Methodist in Glens Falls. Edna passed away Jan. 13, 2000. Besides his parents and wife Robert was predeceased by his brothers, Scott Bruce and Wayne Bruce; and his sisters, Alta Bruce, Gayle Sharrow and Bell Burnett. Robert is survived by a son, Victor G. Bruce and his wife, Sandra; his granddaughters, Jennifer Bruce and Janice Bruce; grandsons, Matthew and Timothy Bruce; a great-grandson, Joseph Joyce; and his three brothers: Richard C. Bruce of South Glens Falls, Gerald A "Duke" Bruce, of Clearwater, Fla. and Garry L. Bruce and his wife, Peggy; all of Clearwater, Fla; and a sister-in-law, Fay Bruce of South Glens Falls. Born April 29, 1931, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Ernest and Vera (Henry) Potter. Diane loved animals, especially her dog, Eileen. She enjoyed her family, loved to visit with whoever came over and gardening. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Potter. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Roger DelSignore of South Glens Falls; her children: Hope Gwin and her husband, Richard, of Queensbury, Dan DelSignore and his wife, Suzanne, of Hudson Falls, Todd DelSignore and his girlfriend, Jerri, of Lake George, Faith Hazelton and her husband, Edward, of South Glens Falls, and Denise Tatum and her husband, Clifton, of Stillwater; 13 grandchildren: Roger, Michael, Scott, Chris, Laurie, Byron, Nathaniel, Alesa, Rachel, Stacey, Shannon, Tyler and Sara; 12 great-grandchildren; and her cousin, Janet Bullock. Fiore, Mary Pickett FAIRFAX, Va. -- Mary Pickett Fiore, 73, of Fairfax, Va., passed away in her home on Saturday, June 18, 2005, with Alzheimer's disease. Born on May 4, 1932, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Anne and John Pickett. She graduated from Saint Mary's Academy, Glens Falls, in 1950. Then the College of St. Rose in Albany with a degree in nursing. She did graduate work in public health administration at Marquette University. Mary worked as a public health nurse for Warren County, and as an Alcoholism Counselor for Fairfax County, Va. She was married on Dec. 9, 1956, at St. Mary's Church, Glens Falls, to Adolph A. Fiore, Cmdr., U.S. Navy (retired). She enjoyed sailing, Fairfax, Va., and Glens Falls families, and her golden retriever, Lady. Mary was predeceased by her father, John Pickett, her mother, Anne Pickett, and her brother, Edmund Pickett. Survivors include her loving husband, Adolph A. Fiore, Cmdr., USN (Retired); loving mother of, David A., Eileen M., Margaret A. Fiore, Kari Fiore-Walker (Benjamin) and Jennifer A. Fiore; sister of, Eileen Prairie, June West, and Patricia Law; grandmother of Shawn, Amanda, and Kaitlan; great-grandmother of Taylor. Lloyd, Mae Carpenter QUEENSBURY -- Mae Carpenter Lloyd, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at her home. She was born on May 26, 1912, in Middle Granville, the daughter of Leonard and Anna Carpenter. Mae graduated from Granville High School in 1931, Hudson Falls Training Class in 1932, and Plattsburgh Normal School (State University) in 1936. She taught for 41 years in various Washington and Warren County schools, in Philmont, N.Y., and in Somers in Westchester County. Mae married Albert Lloyd on Nov. 6, 1943. She was a member of the Captain Israel Harris Chapter of Dar in Granville, Sylvan Star/Skenesborough Chapter No. 122 Order of the Eastern Star in Granville, a life member of Retired Teachers of New York and Carmel Garden Club. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also predeceased by a sister, Maude Talbot and her husband, Earl. Survivors include her sisters: Harriett Scott and her husband, Horace, Luella Rathbun, Jean McEachron and her husband, Ray, and Lillian Hall; three nieces, Emily O'Hare and her husband, Michael, Ann Talbot and her husband, Lincoln, and Donna Austin and her husband, Charles; two nephews, Horace "Bud" Scott and his wife, Deirdre and John Talbot and his wife, Peggy; and several great-grand nieces and nephews. Published in the Post-Star on 6/23/2005. McDonnough, Jessie Mae Glens Falls -- Jessie Mae McDonnough, 97, of Glens Falls, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home. Born April 7, 1908, in Tyler, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Sarah White and Henry Davis. Jessie worked as a housekeeper for many years with the late Louis P. Brown, chairman of Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co. and also with Dr. Phillip Zurlo. There are no known survivors but good friends, Maurice Mignot and his wife, Monica; and goddaughter, Michelle Barcomb and her husband, Jim, all of Glens Falls. By her request there will be no calling hours. Sabo, 55, of Hudson Falls, died at Glens Falls Hospital on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, following a long illness. Born Oct. 5, 1949, in Troy, she was the daughter of Dorothy (Van Keuren) Lardner and the late Rev. Walter C. Lardner, and was named after the Wendy character in J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan. A 1967 graduate of Hudson Falls High School, she attended SUNY Cobleskill and Adirondack Community College, earning an associate's degree in accounting. She began her accounting career with John Day in Hudson Falls prior to moving to Shreveport, La. to become manager of the Quality Inn of Shreveport. Returning to upstate New York, she worked for many years in the accounting department of Acme Electric in Cuba, N.Y., until her move back to Hudson Falls in 1992. She was most recently an assistant vice president in the trust department of Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co. Wendy was also active as a volunteer with The Hyde Collection and Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Samaritan Counseling Center and the Center for Independent Living. Wendy enjoyed her friends and family, and vacationing on the New Hampshire coast each summer. Her compassion for others and her ever present smile will be greatly missed. In addition to her mother, Dorothy Lardner, of Hudson Falls, Wendy is survived by her son, Eric Sabo and his girlfriend, Theresa Efner, of South Glens Falls; her sister, Barbara Moore and her husband, Jim, of Potomac, Md., her sister, June Leary and her husband, Daniel, of Hudson Falls her nieces and nephews David Moore and his wife, Helen, of Cambridge, Mass., and Dorothy, Louis, Zoe, and Charlotte Waters, all of Hudson Falls; and her ex-husband Tony Sabo of Hudson Falls. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls. Vroman, Harriet Fensom CARMEL, Calif. -- Harriet Fensom Vroman, 98, passed away Monday, June 13, 2005, at the Victorian Assisted Living House in Carmel, Calif. Born Nov. 24, 1906, in Ogdensburg, she was the daughter of Lillian and George Fensom. Harriet graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton. She taught school in Chateaugay, Middleburgh, and from 1952 to 1970, she taught high school math in Lake Luzerne. Harriet married Howard Best Vroman, ninth generation Dutchman from Middleburgh, N.Y., in 1934. The same year, they settled in Corinth. Howard had taught in the Corinth School system until he retired in 1970. He died in 1987, in Lakeland, Fla. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth V. Blanchard of Carmel and Cedarville, Cailf. Elizabeth has four children and five grandchildren; and Ruthie V. and C.J. Gorius of Lyndeborough, N.H. They have three children, and five grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Corinth Rural Cemetery, Route 9N. Gorius families of Lyndeborough and N. Hampton, N.H. and the Gorius son and his family of Upton, Mass.; and the McAllister's of Putney, Vt. ; and Dick Bartholomew, longtime friend of the Vroman family, will participate. The Rev. John Aldrich of the First Presbyterian Church of Corinth will officiate.
