George was born in Fort Edward on Jan. 11, 1934, to Eugene and Kathleen (Vines) Bowe. He was a veteran of both the Army and Air Force, serving in the Army from 1951 1955, and in the Air Force from 1958-1961. George married Florence Wasielewski on Nov. 20, 1961. The couple lived for 40 years in Bayonne, N.J., where he was employed as a truck driver and a welding specialist. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife and a nephew, Timothy Bartholomew. Survivors include two sisters, Mary A. Adams and her husband, George, and Elizabeth A. Montello, all of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; a brother, John J. Bowe and his wife, Eydie, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three nephews: Daniel T. Bartholomew, Michael J. Bartholomew and his wife, Teresa, and Todd M. Bowe; one niece, Melissa F. Brown and her husband, Geoff; his uncle, John Vines from Mclean, Va., and several great-nieces and one great- nephew. Published in the Post-Star on 6/24/2005. Fiore, Mary Pickett FAIRFAX, Va. -- Mary Pickett Fiore, 73, of Fairfax, Va., passed away in her home on Saturday, June 18, 2005, with Alzheimer's disease. Born on May 4, 1932, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Anne and John Pickett. She graduated from Saint Mary's Academy, Glens Falls, in 1950. Then the College of St. Rose in Albany with a degree in nursing. She did graduate work in public health administration at Marquette University. Mary worked as a public health nurse for Warren County, and as an Alcoholism Counselor for Fairfax County, Va. She was married on Dec. 9, 1956, at St. Mary's Church, Glens Falls, to Adolph A. Fiore, Cmdr., U.S. Navy (retired). She enjoyed sailing, Fairfax, Va., and Glens Falls families, and her golden retriever, Lady. Mary was predeceased by her father, John Pickett, her mother, Anne Pickett, and her brother, Edmund Pickett. Survivors include her loving husband, Adolph A. Fiore, Cmdr., USN (Retired); loving mother of, David A., Eileen M., Margaret A. Fiore, Kari Fiore-Walker (Benjamin) and Jennifer A. Fiore; sister of, Eileen Prairie, June West, and Patricia Law; grandmother of Shawn, Amanda, and Kaitlan; great-grandmother of Taylor. Frazier, Maurice R. Queensbury -- Maurice R. Frazier, 76, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2005, at Eden Park Nursing Home, Glens Falls, after along illness. Born in Chestertown, on Jan. 1, 1929, he was the son of the late Leonard and Cordelia (Culver) Frazier. After graduating from Chestertown Central School and the Bentley School of Accounting and Finance in Boston, Maurice started his career in banking at the Chester Schroon Horicon Bank in Chestertown. In 1961, he accepted the position of manager of the Bolton branch of 1st National Bank of Glens Falls; later he was promoted to assistant vice president. He moved to the main office in Glens Falls, where he was a loan officer and later managed the Bank's Operations Center. Over the years, Maurice served as school clerk for the Chestertown Central School; was active in the Glendale Masonic Lodge of Pottersville, and the Boy Scouts of America, and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Chestertown, then Bolton Landing, and most recently of the Queensbury United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved golfing, watching sports, especially the New York Yankees and Boston Celtics. He took great pride in caring for his home and lawns. During the last years of his life, Maurice missed not having the ability to talk with the many friends and business acquaintances he made over the years and his wry wit will be missed. Maurice will be remembered as a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. He was predeceased by one brother, Donald Frazier, and one sister, Ellen Picinich. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Patricia Campanaro Frazier of Queensbury, whom he married on July 1, 1948; one son, Darryl Frazier and his wife, Terri, of Warrensburg; one daughter, Maureen Frazier of Albany; two grandsons, Gabriel Frazier and his wife, Laura, of Queensbury, and David Frazier of Saratoga Springs; one granddaughter, Rebecca Frazier of Glens Falls; two great-grandchildren, Michaela Frazier of Queensbury and Olivia Frazier-Lee of Glens Falls; one brother, Hulbert Frazier and his wife, Thelma, of Warrensburg; two sisters, Blanche Farrell of Indian Lake and Anne Moore of Prince Frederick, Md., one brother-in-law, Andy Campanaro of Deltona, Fla., one sister-in-law, Mildred Frazier of Chestertown; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, at Chestertown Community United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rich Weihing and the Rev. David Adams officiating. "Dick" Hyatt, 86, of Upper Turnpike, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2005, at his home. Born in Whitehall, on Oct. 30, 1918, he was the son of Lewis Alfred Hyatt and Ethel Oreta Norton, of West Haven, Vt. His wife of 64 years, Florence Thayer Hyatt, predeceased him. A lifelong member of Mount Hope-Phoenix Masonic Lodge No. 96, He joined the Masons March 13, 1956, was Worshipful Master in 1962, and Grand Representative to Saskatchewan in 1971 to 1972, Order of the Amaranth Saratoga Court No. 55, Skenesborough Chapter order of the Eastern Star, Whitehall Elks Lodge 1491, and the Whitehall Grange. John dedicated many hours of community service to helping others. He started farming at age 16. In 1955, he purchased a 160 acre farm which he operated with his family on Dick Hyatt Road until 1966. He sold the farm and became head custodian at Fort Ann Central School District until his retirement in 1981. He later worked part-time for the local Office of the Aging in Whitehall. John was an avid hunter, fisherman, and Mets fan. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. During their high school years he often traveled long distances to his grandchildren play. John and Florence rarely missed a game. He loved animals, and enjoyed caring for ponies as well as training and rearing bird dogs. He was an excellent gardener and it seemed that the earth was in his blood. He developed a specialized skill in his spare time, and became an expert at restoring 1940s-era Ford tractors. Survivors include a daughter, Lois Zeeman of Belmont, N.C.; a son, Harold T. Hyatt of Whitehall; five grandchildren: Alexander Hyatt and his wife, Ginger, of Whitehall; Robert Toolan and his wife, Rebecca, of Kingston; Heather Turner and her husband, Michael, of Warrensburg; Janelle Palmer and her husband, Joseph, of Whitehall; and Jaime Toolan and his wife, Rachel, of Castleton-On-Hudson; six great-grandchildren, Jacob Hyatt, Jesse Hyatt, Joseph Schaefer, Elizabeth Turner, Brandon Turner, and Katherine Rose Toolan as well as several cousins, distant relatives, and many friends. McDonnough, Jessie Mae Glens Falls -- Jessie Mae McDonnough, 97, of Glens Falls, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home. Born April 7, 1908, in Tyler, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Sarah White and Henry Davis. Jessie worked as a housekeeper for many years with the late Louis P. Brown, chairman of Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co. and also with Dr. Phillip Zurlo. There are no known survivors but good friends, Maurice Mignot and his wife, Monica; and goddaughter, Michelle Barcomb and her husband, Jim, all of Glens Falls. By her request there will be no calling hours. Born Sept. 10, 1935, in East Dover, Vt., she was the daughter of Marion (Brown) Chatterton, of Queensbury, and the late Luther Chatterton. Ruby graduated from Queensbury High School in 1953. Ruby married her husband, Martin Mosher, in 1954, at the Christ Church United Methodist of Glens Falls. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and shopping. Survivors besides her mother and her husband,of 50 years, include her son, Mark Mosher of Queensbury; her brother, Walt Chatterton of Queensbury; her sister, Janet of Glens Falls; her brother, Ike of Queensbury; her sisters-in-law, Betty, Chris, Dolly, Elaine, Gail, Lona, Lola, and Dora; her brother-in-law, John; her dog, Buttons, and several nieces and nephews. Sabo, 55, of Hudson Falls, died at Glens Falls Hospital on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, following a long illness. Born Oct. 5, 1949, in Troy, she was the daughter of Dorothy (Van Keuren) Lardner and the late Rev. Walter C. Lardner, and was named after the Wendy character in J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan. A 1967 graduate of Hudson Falls High School, she attended SUNY Cobleskill and Adirondack Community College, earning an associate's degree in accounting. She began her accounting career with John Day in Hudson Falls prior to moving to Shreveport, La. to become manager of the Quality Inn of Shreveport. Returning to upstate New York, she worked for many years in the accounting department of Acme Electric in Cuba, N.Y., until her move back to Hudson Falls in 1992. She was most recently an assistant vice president in the trust department of Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co. Wendy was also active as a volunteer with The Hyde Collection and Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Samaritan Counseling Center and the Center for Independent Living. Wendy enjoyed her friends and family, and vacationing on the New Hampshire coast each summer. Her compassion for others and her ever present smile will be greatly missed. In addition to her mother, Dorothy Lardner, of Hudson Falls, Wendy is survived by her son, Eric Sabo and his girlfriend, Theresa Efner, of South Glens Falls; her sister, Barbara Moore and her husband, Jim, of Potomac, Md., her sister, June Leary and her husband, Daniel, of Hudson Falls her nieces and nephews David Moore and his wife, Helen, of Cambridge, Mass., and Dorothy, Louis, Zoe, and Charlotte Waters, all of Hudson Falls; and her ex-husband Tony Sabo of Hudson Falls. SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- Doris C. VanVranken, 83, of Haviland Avenue, died Thursday, June 23, 2005, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home, Fort Edward. Born on March 27, 1922, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late James M. and Ella (Wells) Cronkhite. Doris was a graduate of Fort Edward High School. On Oct. 19, 1949, she married Walter F. VanVranken at St. James Episcopal Church, Fort Edward. He passed away on Sept. 4, 1966. Doris worked for Ridge Book Shop and Fowlers in Glens Falls. She took great pride and enjoyment in her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Walter VanVranken Jr.; a stepson, Peter VanVranken; a sister, Mary Esther Woodward; and three brothers, John, William and Tom Cronkhite. Survivors include a daughter, Joy LaBarge and her husband, John, of Waterford; a son, James J. VanVranken of Fort Edward; a daughter-in-law, Deborah VanVranken of South Glens Falls; six grandchildren: Jill Rafferty and her husband, Christopher, of Gansevoort, Christopher and Melanie LaBarge of Waterford, Timothy and Shawn VanVranken of South Glens Falls; three great-grandchildren, Abigail, Jesse and Evan Rafferty of Gansevoort; a brother, Donald "Dutch" Cronkhite and his wife, Louise, of South Glens Falls; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
