Born Jan. 20, 1906, in Maryland (Otsego County), she was the daughter of Daniel D. and Libby Dayton Cady. Mrs. Butler was a 1923 graduate of Oneonta High School and a 1925 graduate of Oneonta Normal School. She taught at Richmondville schools from 1925 to 1935 and from 1951 to 1971. She married Maurice E. Butler in Richmondville on March 26, 1932. He died April 28, 1951. Mrs. Butler is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Bresett-Thatcher of Ticonderoga; and a son, Philip M. Butler of Richmondville. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Naomi Butler and her husband, Jerry, of Gresham, Ore., Sean Bresett and his wife, Abby, of Alexandria, Va., Michael Bresett and his wife, Wendy, of Ticonderoga, Heather Bresett of Tujunga, Calif; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Milliard Cady and Elmer Cady, and two sisters, Maude Cady and Alma Liedkie. Mrs. Butler was a member of the Richmondville United Methodist Church. Elmore, 81, of East Street, died peacefully Thursday, June 23, 2005, at home surrounded by her family. Born in Brooklyn on Dec. 21, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Loretta (Braband) Wichers. She was raised and lived in Rosedale, Queens, and spent the last eight years of her life in Fort Edward. Ginny graduated from St. John's Hospital School of Nursing, Long Island City, in 1945. During her long career as a nurse, she devoted herself to the spiritual, mental and physical need of those entrusted to her care. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two infant great-grandsons. Ginny is survived by her daughter, Linda Thorpe and her partner, Sonny Covington; her brother, Thomas Wichers and his wife, Helen, of Danbury, Conn.; her grandchildren: Michael Schirrmeister and his wife, Michele, of Patchogue, N.Y., James Schirrmeister and his partner, Jason Becton of Rosedale, N.Y., Matthew Thorpe and his wife, Renee, of Fort Edward, Katharine Pliscofsky and her husband, Anthony, and their children, Irene and Everett of Newport, N.C. Farrar, James Alfred WARRENSBURG -- James Alfred Farrar, 59, of Farrar Road, Lake George, (North Caldwell), passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, Thursday, June 23, 2005, at Dartmouth- Hitchcock Hospital Medical Center, in Lebanon, N.H., with his wife and children at his side. Jim was born Sept. 20, 1945, in Glens Falls Hospital, the second child of James Stewart and Mary Elizabeth (Guiles) Farrar. Jim was a lifelong resident of North Caldwell and a direct descendant of Josiah and Abigail (Chatfield) Woodward, who were the seventh family to settle in Warrensburg in 1878. Jim attended Warrensburg Central School and graduated in 1963. He graduated from New York State College of Forestry at Syracuse University in 1967. He was a forester with Adirondack Forestry, Inc., eventually buying the company with his partner, Garry Nelson. They later sold the business to Fountain Forestry, for which they both worked. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Warrensburg. He was a member of and the first president of the Upper Hudson Maple Producers Association. Along with his brother John, Jim operated Farrar's Maple Products, making maple syrup on the family sugarbush which they started doing with their father over 40 years ago. Jim was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed the simple pleasure of walking in the woods and observing the natural beauty of the Adirondacks. He married Nancy Diane Tucker Aug. 12, 1969. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his daughter, Kelly D. Farrar and her husband, Jason G. Lee, and grandson, Nathan G. Lee of Rochester; his son, James S. Farrar II and his wife, Megan of Malta; his sister, Sarah M. Farrar of North Caldwell, hid brother, Stewart S. Farrar and his wife, Judith of Richmond, Ky., and his brother, John C. Farrar of North Caldwell; his brothers-in-law, Philip Tucker of Lake George, Terry Tucker of North Caldwell, and Randy Tucker and his wife, Jan, of Hudson Falls; his uncle, Benjamin F. Guiles and his wife, Audrey, of Lake George; his aunt, S. June Tyrrell of Bruswick; his aunt, Mary Miles of Frederick, Md.; his uncle, Paul A. Fiore, Mary Pickett FAIRFAX, Va. -- Mary Pickett Fiore, 73, of Fairfax, Va., passed away in her home on Saturday, June 18, 2005, with Alzheimer's disease. Born on May 4, 1932, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Anne and John Pickett. She graduated from Saint Mary's Academy, Glens Falls, in 1950. Then the College of St. Rose in Albany with a degree in nursing. She did graduate work in public health administration at Marquette University. Mary worked as a public health nurse for Warren County, and as an Alcoholism Counselor for Fairfax County, Va. She was married on Dec. 9, 1956, at St. Mary's Church, Glens Falls, to Adolph A. Fiore, Cmdr., U.S. Navy (retired). She enjoyed sailing, Fairfax, Va., and Glens Falls families, and her golden retriever, Lady. Mary was predeceased by her father, John Pickett, her mother, Anne Pickett, and her brother, Edmund Pickett. Survivors include her loving husband, Adolph A. Fiore, Cmdr., USN (Retired); loving mother of, David A., Eileen M., Margaret A. Fiore, Kari Fiore-Walker (Benjamin) and Jennifer A. Frazier, Maurice R. Queensbury -- Maurice R. Frazier, 76, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2005, at Eden Park Nursing Home, Glens Falls, after along illness. Born in Chestertown, on Jan. 1, 1929, he was the son of the late Leonard and Cordelia (Culver) Frazier. After graduating from Chestertown Central School and the Bentley School of Accounting and Finance in Boston, Maurice started his career in banking at the Chester Schroon Horicon Bank in Chestertown. In 1961, he accepted the position of manager of the Bolton branch of 1st National Bank of Glens Falls; later he was promoted to assistant vice president. He moved to the main office in Glens Falls, where he was a loan officer and later managed the Bank's Operations Center. Over the years, Maurice served as school clerk for the Chestertown Central School; was active in the Glendale Masonic Lodge of Pottersville, and the Boy Scouts of America, and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Chestertown, then Bolton Landing, and most recently of the Queensbury United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved golfing, watching sports, especially the New York Yankees and Boston Celtics. He took great pride in caring for his home and lawns. During the last years of his life, Maurice missed not having the ability to talk with the many friends and business acquaintances he made over the years and his wry wit will be missed. Maurice will be remembered as a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. He was predeceased by one brother, Donald Frazier, and one sister, Ellen Picinich. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Patricia Campanaro Frazier of Queensbury, whom he married on July 1, 1948; one son, Darryl Frazier and his wife, Terri, of Warrensburg; one daughter, Maureen Frazier of Albany; two grandsons, Gabriel Frazier and his wife, Laura, of Queensbury, and David Frazier of Saratoga Springs; one granddaughter, Rebecca Frazier of Glens Falls; two great-grandchildren, Michaela Frazier of Queensbury and Olivia Frazier-Lee of Glens Falls; one brother, Hulbert Frazier and his wife, Thelma, of Warrensburg; two sisters, Blanche Farrell of Indian Lake and Anne Moore of Prince Frederick, Md., one brother-in-law, Andy Campanaro of Deltona, Fla., one sister-in-law, Mildred Frazier of Chestertown; and many nieces and nephews. NORTH HEBRON -- Kenneth B. Liebig, 74, passed away in his home on Thursday, June 23, 2005, surrounded by the love of his family. Ken was born on June 26, 1930, in North Hebron. He was the son of the late Walter and Cora (Burch) Liebig. He married Mitzi Lincoln on March 25, 1957, and they lived together in North Hebron for 45 years until his loving wife, Mitzi, passed away on June 19, 2002. Ken attended Granville Central School and was a dairy farmer for the majority of his life. He had a deep love and appreciation for the land and the outdoors. His greatest love was his family. He was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also very close to many of his nieces and nephews. Ken especially enjoyed spending time with the youngest children by rocking, feeding and reading to them. As the generations of children grew he became a role model to all of them. He taught them the value of hard work, patience, kindness, love, fairness and laughter. He knew the benefit of saying only a few words that often spoke volumes. Ken is survived by four children, Cindi Liebig and her partner, Lee Whitmore of Argyle, Becky Raub and her husband, Mark, of Clarendon, Vt., Melissa Liebig and her husband, Bill Tatko of Middle Granville, and Kenny Liebig and his wife, Renee, of North Hebron; two brothers, Glen Liebig and his wife, Mary, of Tennessee, Bob Liebig and his wife, Barb, of Hartford; two sisters, Alice L. FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Robert D. Merrill, 84, previously of Hudson Falls, died Wednesday, June 14, 2005, in Fort Myers, Fla., following a brief illness. Born on June 28, 1920, he was the son of Maude and Resse Merrill. Mr. Merrill served in the South Pacific during World War II as a member of the Marine Corps. After leaving the military, he graduated from SUNY Cortland and Columbia University. He began a career in education as a teacher and became an administrator in the Lawrence, Long Island, school system before retiring to Fort Myers in 1980. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth; a son, Robert J. Merrill and his wife, Suzanne, of Glens Falls; two daughters, Kathleen Fragassi and Cynthia Merrill of Fort Myers, Fla.; grandchildren: Traci and Patrick Fragassi of Fort Myers, Fla., Elizabeth Cherniske and her husband, Daniel, of Fairfield, Conn., Robert Merrill and his wife, Lindsey, of Hingham, Mass., and Kathleen Merrill of New York City; two great-granddaughters, Lily and Claire Cherniske; a sister, Alice Flanigan of Fort Myers, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Marion Murphy of Fort Myers, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Pofahl, Peter Scott PORTER CORNERS -- Peter Scott Pofahl, 52, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born Oct. 3, 1952, in West Allis, Wis., he was the son of Albert Otto Pofahl and the late Lydia Clare Petersen. Mr. Pofahl graduated from West Allis High School in Wisconsin and then joined the United States Air Force. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart with one oak leaf. Following his discharge, he attended Adirondack Community College where he received an AAS degree in Registered Nursing. Mr. Pofahl was employed by the New York State Department of Mental Health and then the New York State Department of Corrections at Mount McGregor Correctional Facility, Wilton. He took his commission as an officer in the Army Reserves, later transferring to the New York State Army National Guard. He was activated to Fort Belvoir, Md., during Operation Desert Storm. He retired receiving his 20-year letter as a Major. Mr. Pofahl was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the Eagles club, the Masons and Shriners. Mrs. Pofahl loved golfing with his son, Peter, and spent the last year watching his son in parades and activities with the Adirondack Pipe & Drum Band. He was a devoted father who adored his only child, who in turn adored him. Mr. Pofahl was predeceased by his mother, Lydia (Petersen) Pofahl, and by his closest uncle, Alex Pofahl. Survivors include his father, Albert Otto Pofahl, and his wife, Irma, of Texas; one son, Peter William Pofahl, and his mother, Susan Bailey, of Lake George; one brother, Paul Pofahl of Los Angeles, Calif.; and several cousins. (Howard) St. John Jr., 72, of Saunders Street, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2005, following a lengthy illness. Born on June 25, 1932, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Cyril J. Sr. and Florence (Benack) St. John. Cyril was a veteran of the Korean War, having served aboard the USS Noah as a sonar man. He was employed by Finch, Pruyn & Co. as a waste treatment plant supervisor, retiring in 1993 after 28 years. Cyril was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitehall. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandsons. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph St. John and James Quinn; and one sister, Marie Jacobs. John joined the Marine Corps as a teen and obtained the rank of Sergeant of A Company, 7th Marines, in the First Marine Division in the United States Marine Corps. He was proud of his service during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. During his tour of duty, he was awarded the Combat in Enemy Forces Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. After his return home, he received the Korean Service Medal with one star, on the 50th anniversary of the Korean War, from the Korean Government. He also served the town of Moreau as a councilman from 1976 through 1979. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at the Gerald B.H. Born Feb. 2, 1943, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Marjorie Timms and the late Sidney Timms. Rod graduated from Queensbury Central High School in 1961. He married Darlene Kelley in 1978, in the town of Easton. Rod was a self-employed contractor who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and son. He will be greatly missed by all. Besides his wife, Darlene, he is survived by his mother, Marjorie, of Queensbury; five daughters: Keisha Timms-Lundberg and her husband, Ed, of Easton, Melissa Timms-Haley and her husband, Mike, of Fort Edward, Lisa Daniels and her husband, Bill, of Florida, Joelle Timms and her fianc‚, Ryan Megna, of Fort Ann, and Jillian Timms of Fort Ann; nine grandchildren; Kirsten, Peter, Jack, Britnie, Brandi, Eric, Nicole, Lacey and Olivia; two great- grandchildren, Timothy and Alexis. VanVranken at St. James Episcopal Church, Fort Edward. He passed away on Sept. 4, 1966. Doris worked for Ridge Book Shop and Fowlers in Glens Falls. She took great pride and enjoyment in her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born on June 20, 1935, in Queens, he was the son of the late Ferdinand and Margaret (Fawcett) Zimmerman. Fred was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Panama Canal Zone. He worked for New York State Office of General Service, as building construction program manager until his retirement in October of 1995, after 14 years of service. He was a project manager of HVAC for the Empire State Plaza, Concourse Level and a developer for the Latham Farms residential sub-division. After retiring, he fulfilled a lifelong dream, earning his pilot's license. He enjoyed carpentry and remodeling his home on Schroon Lake. Fred married his soul mate, Barbara Tuzinowski, on March 12, 1955. His parents predecease him. Fred is survived by his wife, Barbara Zimmerman, of Queensbury, and formerly of Guilderland; and their children, Kathi Miller and her husband, Frank, of Queensbury, Rick Zimmerman and his wife, Susan, of Queensbury and Sharon Smith Kucewicz and her husband, John, of Clifton Park; and his sister, Marjorie Schaffner and her husband, Hank, of California; grandchildren: Jason and Jessica Miller, Megan Miller, Matthew Miller, Joshua and Kelly Zimmerman, Sarah and Steven Zimmerman, Ryan Smith and Hilary Kucewicz; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Scott Miller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 27, at Sacred Heart Church, 51 Mohican St., Lake George, with Father Bernard Turner officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Singleton-Healy Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury.
