Born on Oct. 8, 1922, in the town of Easton, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah (Lawson) Conlee. She was a graduate of Greenwich High School at the age of 16 and then went to beautician school in Schenectady. Rita opened her first beauty shop in Schenectady. She then moved to Hudson Falls and operated the Char-Lyn Beauty Salon for many years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's/St. Paul's Church in Hudson Falls. Rita loved crossword puzzles, the ballet, watching 'Jeopardy', PBS, and loved walking. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her kids, grandkids and family. Her family says she always had a kind word for everyone. Besides her husband, Charles H. Buchanan, and her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, William Conlee and Thomas Conlee, and three sisters, Veronica Varley, Sarah Herbert, and Mary Conlee. Survivors include one daughter, Lynn Ellmers and her husband, Dr. Gordon, of Fort Edward; one son, Dr. Charles H. Buchanan of Glenmont; two grandchildren, Lili Bianca Buchanan of Brooklyn and Charles Aria Buchanan of Glenmont; one brother, Donald Conlee of Queensbury; several nieces, nephews and cousins; one sister-in-law, Claire Conlee of Hudson Falls; and one daughter-in-law, Dr. Minoo Buchanan of Delmar. There are no calling hours scheduled. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary's/St. Paul's Church, on the Park, in Hudson Falls. The Rite of Committal will be private. Farrar, James Alfred WARRENSBURG -- James Alfred Farrar, 59, of Farrar Road, Lake George, (North Caldwell), passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, Thursday, June 23, 2005, at Dartmouth- Hitchcock Hospital Medical Center, in Lebanon, N.H., with his wife and children at his side. Jim was born Sept. 20, 1945, in Glens Falls Hospital, the second child of James Stewart and Mary Elizabeth (Guiles) Farrar. Jim was a lifelong resident of North Caldwell and a direct descendant of Josiah and Abigail (Chatfield) Woodward, who were the seventh family to settle in Warrensburg in 1878. Jim attended Warrensburg Central School and graduated in 1963. He graduated from New York State College of Forestry at Syracuse University in 1967. He was a forester with Adirondack Forestry, Inc., eventually buying the company with his partner, Garry Nelson. They later sold the business to Fountain Forestry, for which they both worked. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Warrensburg. He was a member of and the first president of the Upper Hudson Maple Producers Association. Along with his brother John, Jim operated Farrar's Maple Products, making maple syrup on the family sugarbush which they started doing with their father over 40 years ago. Jim was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed the simple pleasure of walking in the woods and observing the natural beauty of the Adirondacks. He married Nancy Diane Tucker Aug. 12, 1969. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his daughter, Kelly D. Farrar and her husband, Jason G. Lee, and grandson, Nathan G. Lee of Rochester; his son, James S. Farrar II and his wife, Megan of Malta; his sister, Sarah M. Farrar of North Caldwell, hid brother, Stewart S. Farrar and his wife, Judith of Richmond, Ky., and his brother, John C. Farrar of North Caldwell; his brothers-in-law, Philip Tucker of Lake George, Terry Tucker of North Caldwell, and Randy Tucker and his wife, Jan, of Hudson Falls; his uncle, Benjamin F. Guiles and his wife, Audrey, of Lake George; his aunt, S. June Tyrrell of Bruswick; his aunt, Mary Miles of Frederick, Md.; his uncle, Paul A. Farrar and his wife, Sally, of South Burlington, Vt.; and his aunt, Barbara F. Moore and her husband, Walter of League City, Texas; 13 cousins, and nine nieces and nephews. Kent was born on May 15, 1974, in Glens Falls, to John E. and Judy (Waldron) Hughes. He was a lifelong resident of Hadley and a 1992 graduate of Hadley-Luzerne Central School. As a child, Kent played the saxophone, participated in Little League and was a member of the Cub Scout and Webelos in Corinth. As an adult he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, riding four-wheelers, boating, fixing and restoring old cars and was a Civil War history buff. He loved his pet dog, Cheyenne, and cat, Hootie. He was employed as an auto mechanic at various car dealerships in the Saratoga, Ballston Spa and Glens Falls areas. Kent was quick-witted with a droll sense of humor. He loved his family, especially his three nephews, Garrett, John and Collin. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Jay F. "Butch" Waldron, and paternal grandfather, William J. Hughes. Survivors include his parents, John and Judy Hughes of Hadley; one brother, John J. Hughes and his wife, Sonia, of Hadley; one sister, Robyn L. Smith and her husband, Tony, of Lake Luzerne; three nephews, Garrett Smith, John Hughes, and Collin Smith; his maternal grandmother, Estella (Collins) Waldron of Corinth; Paternal grandmother, Doris R. Published in the Post-Star on 6/26/2005. Liebig, Kenneth B. NORTH HEBRON -- Kenneth B. Liebig, 74, passed away in his home on Thursday, June 23, 2005, surrounded by the love of his family. Ken was born on June 26, 1930, in North Hebron. He was the son of the late Walter and Cora (Burch) Liebig. He married Mitzi Lincoln on March 25, 1957, and they lived together in North Hebron for 45 years until his loving wife, Mitzi, passed away on June 19, 2002. Ken attended Granville Central School and was a dairy farmer for the majority of his life. He had a deep love and appreciation for the land and the outdoors. His greatest love was his family. He was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also very close to many of his nieces and nephews. Ken especially enjoyed spending time with the youngest children by rocking, feeding and reading to them. As the generations of children grew he became a role model to all of them. He taught them the value of hard work, patience, kindness, love, fairness and laughter. He knew the benefit of saying only a few words that often spoke volumes. Ken is survived by four children, Cindi Liebig and her partner, Lee Whitmore of Argyle, Becky Raub and her husband, Mark, of Clarendon, Vt., Melissa Liebig and her husband, Bill Tatko of Middle Granville, and Kenny Liebig and his wife, Renee, of North Hebron; two brothers, Glen Liebig and his wife, Mary, of Tennessee, Bob Liebig and his wife, Barb, of Hartford; two sisters, Alice L. Veilleux and her husband, Roland, of Florida and Shirley Lowery of Queensbury; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. McEachron, Gordon Argyle -- Gordon McEachron, 88, of Sheridan Street, died unexpectedly Friday, June 24, 2005, at his home. Born on Oct. 14, 1916, in Argyle, he was the son of Howard B. and Mabel (McIntyre) McEachron. Gordon was a graduate of Argyle High School Class of 1934 and a member of the Argyle United Presbyterian Church. A veteran of World War II, Gordon served from 1941 to 1945 in the infantry at Fort Benning, Ga, and in the E.T.O. from Iceland to Germany including the Battle of the Bulge. Besides his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his two sisters, Mary McEachron and Margaret Little. Survivors include his wife, Doris (Mullen) McEachron, of Argyle; his daughter, Jean McEachron of West Hebron; his nephew, John Little of Chestertown; three stepsons, Charles Allen and his wife, Helene, of Hawaii, Thomas Allenand his wife, Vedia, of Argyle and Gerald Allen and his wife, Roseanne, of Florida; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one cousin, Duncan McIntyre of Ithaca. At Gordon's request, his body will be donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at Albany Medical College and there will be no services at this time. Cremated remains will be interred at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Argyle at the convenience of the family. Nicol, Eunice Ann (Richardson) South Glens Falls -- Eunice Ann (Richardson) Nicol, 64, of South Glens Falls died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at home after a long illness. Eunice, the daughter of the late Frederick J. and Alice M. (Brosius) Richardson, was born in Glens Falls on Oct. 20, 1940. Upon graduating from South Glens Falls High School, class of 1958, she received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University at Albany and a Master of Science degree from Florida Atlantic University at Boca Raton, Fla. She previously taught at Catskill High School and Plantation Florida High School and was an associate professor of Business at Adirondack Community College from 1981 to 2003, teaching accounting and finance courses. Monty LANTANA, Fla. -- A graveside service to inter the cremains of Monty Parsons will be held at Glens Falls Cemetery on Bay Street on Saturday, July 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. Monty passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at his home in Lantana, Fla., after a long illness. He was under the care of Hospice of Palm Beach County. Monty was born on Nov. 10, 1938, in Glens Falls, and graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1956, where he played baseball and was co-captain of his 1955 undefeated football team. He went on to play semi-pro football. He spent his career in lumber and building material sales, during which he relocated to Florida in 1975. He enjoyed being around his family. He loved football. He was an avid Patriots fan. He also enjoyed car racing, especially NASCAR. He went to many races at Daytona. Before his health deteriorated he enjoyed playing golf, fishing and dining out. Monty was preceded in death by his father, Paul H. Parsons, and his brother, Paul Cary Parsons. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Johanna (Jennings) Parsons; his daughters, Cindy of New York, Sarah Green and her husband, Pat, of Lake Worth, Fla., and Katie McKee and her husband, Tom, of Wellington, Fla.; his son, Paul and his wife, Tina (Callahan), of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; his mother, Helen Parsons Haskell of Lake Worth, Fla.; and his grandchildren: Ashley, Miranda, Andrew, Morgan and Alexandra of Lake Worth and Wellington, Fla. He is also survived by two nephews and several cousins from the Glens Falls area. Pofahl, Peter Scott PORTER CORNERS -- Peter Scott Pofahl, 52, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born Oct. 3, 1952, in West Allis, Wis., he was the son of Albert Otto Pofahl and the late Lydia Clare Petersen. Mr. Pofahl graduated from West Allis High School in Wisconsin and then joined the United States Air Force. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart with one oak leaf. Following his discharge, he attended Adirondack Community College where he received an AAS degree in Registered Nursing. Mr. Pofahl was employed by the New York State Department of Mental Health and then the New York State Department of Corrections at Mount McGregor Correctional Facility, Wilton. He took his commission as an officer in the Army Reserves, later transferring to the New York State Army National Guard. He was activated to Fort Belvoir, Md., during Operation Desert Storm. He retired receiving his 20-year letter as a Major. Mr. Pofahl was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the Eagles club, the Masons and Shriners. Mrs. Pofahl loved golfing with his son, Peter, and spent the last year watching his son in parades and activities with the Adirondack Pipe & Drum Band. He was a devoted father who adored his only child, who in turn adored him. Mr. Pofahl was predeceased by his mother, Lydia (Petersen) Pofahl, and by his closest uncle, Alex Pofahl. Survivors include his father, Albert Otto Pofahl, and his wife, Irma, of Texas; one son, Peter William Pofahl, and his mother, Susan Bailey, of Lake George; one brother, Paul Pofahl of Los Angeles, Calif.; and several cousins. Shearer, Janet Isabel Queensbury -- Janet Isabel Shearer, 54, of Queensbury, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, June 24, 2005, at Albany Medical Center, following a short illness. Born on May 16, 1951, in Glens Falls, Janet was the daughter of the late John F. and Josephine (Merrill/Grover) Flower of Queensbury. Janet grew up at Lake Sunnyside and graduated from Queensbury High School in 1969. She attended Adirondack Community College and received a dental technician license from Bryman Institute in Los Angeles, Calif. She worked as a dental assistant in the dental office of Dr. Brostoff in Los Angeles. Janet married Michael William Shearer on Aug. 19, 1972, at the Church Of Our Lady of the Annunciation, Queensbury. Besides her parents, Janet was predeceased by her grandparents, Alice (Lane) and Burton Merrill of Easton, N.Y., and Isabel (Murray) and Henry Flower of Johnsonville, N.Y., and a daughter, Erin Mary Shearer. Slattery, Susan Kay (Thompson) Ticonderoga -- Susan Kay (Thompson) Slattery, 54, of Water Street, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2005, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ticonderoga, Nov. 23, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Geraldine (Plozinski) Thompson. Mrs. Slattery was a lifelong resident of Ticonderoga and was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. Through the years, she was employed in the restaurant/service industry at various restaurants. She also owned and operated the former "Little Bit of Italy" Restaurant of Ticonderoga. Susan especially loved her family and loved traveling with them. She never missed a family function. She enjoyed attending her children's school sporting events. She was a member of the American Legion Post No. 224 Ladies Auxiliary and the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks No. 1494, both of Ticonderoga. She was actively involved in both organizations' charitable events. Her interests included camping and fishing, and she was an avid bingo player. Susan's strength and courage throughout her illness never let her down or slow her down. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her infant son, Brodie; two brothers, Harvey Thompson and Carl Thompson; and two sisters, Delores Widman and Mary Kahl. Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Rollin T. Slattery III; three daughters, Adele M. Gary and her husband, Keith, of Cabot, Ark., Jody Lynn Bevilacqua and her husband, Jason Spina, of Watervliet, and Amanda M. Slattery of Ticonderoga; three sons, Damion M. Bevilacqua and his companion, Julie Fuller, of Ticonderoga, Joey Bevilacqua, and Devon R. (Howard) St. John Jr., 72, of Saunders Street, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2005, following a lengthy illness. Born on June 25, 1932, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Cyril J. Sr. and Florence (Benack) St. John. Cyril was a veteran of the Korean War, having served aboard the USS Noah as a sonar man. He was employed by Finch, Pruyn & Co. as a waste treatment plant supervisor, retiring in 1993 after 28 years. Cyril was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitehall. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandsons. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph St. John and James Quinn; and one sister, Marie Jacobs. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy (Phillips) St. John of Whitehall; one daughter, Kathy Radcliff and her husband, Michael, of Lake George; two sons, Howard St. John and his wife, Wilma, of Whitehall, and David St. John and his wife, Betty Ann, of Paw Paw, Mich.; five grandchildren, Kristine Preece and her husband, Frederick, of Whitehall, Jesse St. John of Watervliet, PFC Frederick St. John and his wife, Lyka, stationed in Korea, Jennifer Thompson and her husband, Donnie, of Paw Paw, Mich. and Christopher St. John of Paw Paw, Mich.; five great-grandsons, Preston Preece, Mackenzie Preece and Brandon Preece, all of Whitehall, and Hunter Thompson and Michael Thompson of Paw Paw, Mich.; two sisters, Alice Bombard and her husband, Kenneth, of South Glens Falls, and Ida Lifton of Tampa, Fla.; and nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law.
