William SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- F. William Bayard, 79, of John Street, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2005, at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Nov. 30, 1925, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Frank W. and Marion (Chadwick) Bayard. Mr. Bayard graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1947. After leaving school at 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for four years in the Pacific during World War II. He was on a sub-chaser and for a short while, in a submarine. While in the military, he was awarded the American Theater Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal with one Star, World War II Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. When he returned home, he started school again, as he had promised his parents, and graduated in 1947. Bill went to Albright Art School in Buffalo on the GI Bill. He attended for two years, at which time he needed to support his new family and so moved back to Hudson Falls. After a period of partnerships with his father, Frank Bayard, who had been a mason for many years, Bill joined the General Electric Company, where he went to school for design and drafting. Later, he was employed by H.H. Hilton, Inc., where he was in charge of the design and drafting of capacitor machines. During his time with Hilton, Inc., he held several patents for developing new machines. When Hilton, Inc. moved south, he eventually started his own business, Bill's Radiator Shop in South Glens Falls. On Feb. 17, 1984, Bill married Mary (Cooper) Nelson at the South Glens Falls United Methodist Church. Bill was a member of the South Glens Falls United Methodist Church and was active in Hudson Falls and Gansevoort Boy Scouts. He was very proud of his work with youth. He was also a member of the South Glens Falls American Legion Post No. 255. Music was a big part of his life. At one time, he sang for Ray LaFarr at St. Mary's Church in Hudson Falls and then sang in the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church Choir, as well as the South Glens Falls United Methodist Church Choir. Bill was an original member of the Mastersingers Community Chorus, which was later known as The Adirondack Voices. Bill loved spending winters in Florida, building things, working with wood and designing things for his friends. He was an avid stamp and coin collector, hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman and loved his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle, on which he and his wife took extensive trips. He enjoyed camping, especially on the coast of Maine, and traveling to Colonial Williamsburg. Bill always was very willing to step in and help anyone with a project. He was a very giving person. In addition to his wife of 21 years, Mary Cooper Nelson of South Glens Falls, survivors include his children, William Bayard and his wife, Joyce, of Queensbury, Susan Whiting and her husband, Robert, of Argyle, Patricia Bayard and her companion, Vincent Jockimo, of Glens Falls, Margaret Harrington and her husband, Doug, of Climax, N.Y., Deborah Nelson of South Glens Falls and her companion, Brian Baldwin, Michael Nelson and his fiancee, Sharon Davidson of Wilton; his grandchildren, William John Bayard and his companion, Nikki Lemery, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Chad Bayard of Queensbury, Joshua Whiting and his wife, Jennifer, of Hudson Falls, Shane Whiting of Argyle, Matthew Nelson, Jetia Ure, Kalitia Ure and MaKayla Ure; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Janice Whiting of Hudson Falls; two sisters, Carol Bayard and her husband, Tom Booth, of Maplewood, N.J., and June Cohen of St. Augustine, Fla..; his first wife, Marion Payne of Argyle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the South Glens Falls United Methodist Church, 15 Maplewood Parkway, South Glens Falls, with the Rev. Kelly Warner, pastor, and Rev. Dr. E. Queensbury -- Kenny L. Manges, 91, of Queensbury, passed away Friday, March 4, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Kenny was born July 9, 1913, in Lyons, N.Y., the son of the late Clarence and Alice (Hulbert) Manges. He was a longtime member of the Queensbury United Methodist Church. Kenny retired after many years of dedicated service from the Wayne Drug Co. in Newark, N.Y. He was a member of the Wayne County Motorcycle Club for several years where he also served as a past president. Kenny was an avid songwriter, wrote and submitted search-a-word puzzles and wrote numerous poems and lyrics. He also was a cartoon writer. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gladys (Brown) Manges of Queensbury; two daughters, Bonnie Williamson and her husband, Jack, of Hartford and Judy Walker of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Theresa McDowell, Colleen Williams, and Kerri Towers; five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be celebrated at 3 p.m. today March 6, 2005, at the Queensbury United Methodist Church, Aviation Road, Queensbury. No calling hours are scheduled. Randall, 38, affectionately known as "JP," a longtime resident and employee of Ridin' Hy Ranch Resort on Sherman Lake, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born April 18, 1966, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Barbara (McCullough) Randall of Stony Creek and the late Donald J. Randall, who passed away Feb. 17, 2004. JP was raised in Stony Creek and began working at the 1000 Acres Ranch Resort. For the last 15 years, he had been working as a chef at Ridin' Hy Ranch Resort and was considered an important and well-liked employee by the ranch staff. JP was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting fishing and traveling. He loved his nieces and nephews and his trips to Las Vegas. JP's mom said that he was a wonderful son and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. She also commented that JP was an exceptional cook and that she would miss his delicious barbecued ribs. Besides his father, his uncle, Bill McCullough, also predeceases him. Besides his mother, Barbara of Stony Creek, he leaves his nine brothers and sisters, Darlene Hoffman and her husband, Joseph, of East Greenbush, Judy Sanders and her husband, Leroy "Sonny", of High Point, N.C., Jackie Bentley and her husband, Richard, of Lake Luzerne, Bruce Randall and his wife, Mary, of Diamond Point, Geraldine Vaughn and her husband, William, of Corinth, Donna Black and her husband, Ashley, of Stony Creek, his twin sister, Michelle Manos, of Palm Coast, Fla., Christine Putney and her husband, Kevin, of Warrensburg, Daniel Randall and his companion, Jennifer Whittker, both of Hadley; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Robinson, Ronald Clyde Queensbury -- Ronald Clyde Robinson, 72, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. He was born July 14, 1932, in Glens Falls, the son of the late Clyde and Janice (Rist) Robinson. He married Ruth Blanchard on June 16, 1956, at the West Glens Falls Community Chapel. Ronald loved working in his shop, an extremely handy guy who enjoyed building the additions on his home, and was capable of fixing anything. He was predeceased not only by his parents, but his daughter, Mary Ellen Robinson, who passed away in 1982. Ronald is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruth (Blanchard) Robinson of Queensbury; their son, Glen Robinson and his wife, Kristine; grandsons, Matthew, Jonathan, and Ethan Robinson, all of, Malvern Pa.; his brothers, Charles Robinson and wife, Connie, of Cheshire, Mass., and Robert Robinson and wife, Bette, of Manchester Conn.; along with many loving nieces and nephews, also survive him. Triller, Joan G. Moynihan MILLBROOK, N.Y. -- Joan G. Moynihan Triller, 80, of Millbrook, N.Y., passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She was born in Schenectady on Jan. 30, 1925, to Francis and Mary Hall Moynihan. Joan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. For 17 years, she was a receptionist for Catholic Charities in Poughkeepsie, retiring in 1996. Previously, she worked at St. Joseph's School in Millbrook, N.Y., as a remedial math teacher. She was a communicant and member of the Mother's Guild of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Millbrook, N.Y. Joan received her bachelor's degree in English from St. Lawrence University in 1946. During her high school and college years, she was an all-star basketball player and continued to follow sports through her children and grandchildren. Joan was an avid reader. She also loved nature and became an avid bird-watcher. On Dec. 27, 1947, at St. Mary's Church in Hudson Falls, she married Thomas W. Triller, who survives at home. In addition to her husband, survivors include her son, Thomas at home, daughter and son-in-law, Susan and William BreMiller of Millbrook, daughter, Mary Triller at home, son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Kim Triller of Gig Harbor, Wash., son and daughter-in-law, John and Paula Triller of Newburgh, N.Y., daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Alan Cole of Stanfordville, N.Y., and daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Doug DuBois of Millbrook; grandchildren, Jason and Alana BreMiller, Alisa, Kaeley, Meagan, Christie, and Heath Triller, Shaylea and Devin Triller, Erika and Lauren Cole, and Brandon and Tyler DuBois. Survivors also include a brother, Donald Moynihan of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Carol Bouyea of Kingston, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, John Wayne Triller and Bernard Michael Triller; a granddaughter, Bailey Ann Triller; and a sister, Charlotte Triller. There will be no calling hours. Trombley, Mark Louis Ticonderoga and Ashtabula, Ohio -- Mark Louis Trombley, 55, of Ashtabula, Ohio, and formerly of Ticonderoga, N.Y., passed away Friday, March 4, 2005, at the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center. Born Oct. 13, 1949, in Ticonderoga, he was the son of Willis G. and Grace (Curtis) Trombley of Ticonderoga. After graduating from high school, he entered the U.S. Navy, where he served 11 years before being honorably discharged. He worked over 25 years for the Perry Nuclear Power Plant, recently having served as electrical supervisor. Mr. Trombley was a master woodworker and loved fishing, refinishing old woodwork, spending time with his daughters, sons-in-law, and his grandchildren, and playing Santa Claus (just as his father had done). Survivors include his mother, Grace Trombley of Ticonderoga; two daughters, Tammy Luther and her husband, Danny, and Amy Dunn and her husband, Chris, all of Ashtabula, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Teyonna, Justin, Sierra, Cassandra, Megan, Jonathan, Katarina, and Anthony; three brothers, David Trombley and his wife, Pat, of Richmond, Va., Paul Trombley of San Francisco, Calif., and Christopher Trombley of Albany; and his former wife, Bethany Trombley of Dorset, Ohio. Gift Shop Charities Underwood Sr., Philip R. SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- Philip R. Underwood Sr., 79, of Prince William Court, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility. Born on Jan. 26, 1926, in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late Howard R. and Catherine (Hill) Underwood. During World War II, Mr. Underwood spent four years in the European Theatre of Operations with the U. S. Army's 26th Infantry Regiment. He earned the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge, and served in France, Belgium, Czechoslovakia and Germany. He married Mary Lucille Crandall on New Year's Day in 1950 at the Hudson Falls First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Underwood worked at Sandy Hill Corporation in the maintenance department for 34 years. For a number of years, he lived in Hudson Falls and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in that community. His Veterans of Foreign Wars involvement took him to the position of Commander of Post 420 in Saratoga Springs. In 1988, he was the Grand Commander of Military Order of the Cootie. Mr. Underwood and his wife enjoyed traveling with veterans organizations. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph and Clarence Underwood, as well as a sister, Catherine Tyminski. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Underwood of South Glens Falls; five children: Joyce M. Montgomery and her husband, Charles, of Mechanicville, Brenda K. Bartholomew of Mechanicville, Philip R. Underwood Jr. and his wife, Deborah, of Milford, N.Y., Robert Scott Underwood and his wife, Naomi, of Carthage, and Patricia A. Valine, Charles OLMSTEDVILLE -- Charles Valine, 76, died early Friday morning, March 4, 2005, at his home after a long illness. Charles was born Feb. 10, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late Fred and Caroline Dalpra Valine. Charles was a sales manager in the air-conditioning and refrigeration business for over 40 years; he spent much of this time with the Harry Alter Company and prior to his retirement with ABCO of Hauppauge, N.Y., Charles resided in Lynbrook, N.Y., for over 24 years; he retired to Olmstedville in 1990. Charles loved guns and collecting them, he hunted on occasion and he was a devoted N.Y. Mets fan. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 until 1954. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Olmstedville when his health permitted. Charles is survived by his wife, Sarah Cosimano Valine; his son, Christopher and his wife, Barbara Valine, all of Olmstedville; and his grandchildren, Laurie and Scott Valine. Charles was predeceased by his sister, Mary Spero, in October 2004. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Olmstedville, with the Rev. Waters, 49, of Whitehall, formerly of Granville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 3, 2005, after a long illness. Lavern was born on July 7, 1955, in Glens Falls, the son of Donald J. and Rose (Brownell) Waters of Granville. Lavern was a 1973 graduate of Granville High School and worked various jobs throughout the area, most recently for Newmont Slate Co. Everyone who knew Lavern knew him as a wonderful and giving man, an avid fisherman with a witty sense of humor and as a master gardener who enjoyed get-togethers with family and friends, camping, boating and driving Ford pickups. He also enjoyed giving a flower to everyone he knew. Lavern will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him, most of all his best friend and life partner, Sandy. In addition to his parents, Lavern is survived by a son, Clarence J. Waters II and his wife, Cristina, of McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey; his life partner and best friend of 23 years, Sandra Rudolph, and their daughter, Naomi VanGuilder and her husband, Thomas Rushia, of Claremont, N.H.; and Vern's cat Harry. Also surviving are five siblings and their spouses, Nadine and David John Morey of North Granville, Dighton and Cassie Water of Grand Isle, Vt., Sabby and Daniel Reid of Brandon, Vt., Armand Waters and Helen Crosier of North Granville and Donald and Noemi Waters of Lakenheath Air Force Base in England. Many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends also survive Lavern. Lavern was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Clarence J and Florence E. (West) Waters of Granville, and maternal grandparents, Nellie (Brownell) David and Earl C. Brownell. A celebration of Lavern's life will be private and at the convenience of the family.
