"Dick" HUDSON FALLS -- Richard W. "Dick" Barry Sr., 68, of John Street, went into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at his home. Born on May 21, 1936, in Ilion, he was the son of the late Richard J. and Eva (Smith) Barry. After being together for 17 years, he married Charlotte Burch on Dec. 24, 1997, in Hudson Falls. Dick worked for more than 28 years as a watchman and fireman at the Chase Bag Co., formerly located in the town of Moreau. After Chase Bag closed, he worked at Eden Park Health Care Facility in Glens Falls, as a porter, until his retirement. He enjoyed watching the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church services broadcast on local TV every Sunday morning. Dick was a 24-year member of the Hudson Falls Fire Department and also served with the Fort Edward Rescue Squad, Inc. He enjoyed collecting coins, firefighting memorabilia and model cars. Dick was a quiet man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. According to his grandchildren, "He was the best grandfather anyone could have." In addition to his loving wife, Charlotte Barry of Hudson Falls, he is survived by five children, Rick Barry of Queensbury, Gayle Barry of Minnesota, Brenda Berg of Minnesota, Chris Barry of Pittsford, Vt., Daniel Barry of Lake Luzerne; three stepchildren, Larry Davis and his wife, Liz, of Virginia, Mark Davis of Saratoga Springs and Lisa Shannon and her husband, Paul, of Hudson Falls; two brothers, Edmund Barry and his wife, Betty, of Tennessee and Reginald Prouty of Hudson Falls; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, March 11, 2005 at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. The Hudson Falls Fire Department and Support group will meet tonight at 6 p.m. at the funeral home to pay their respects. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Lefurgey, pastor of the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church, officiating. Spring burial will be at Union Cemetery, in the town of Fort Edward. Bisignano, 64, of Ridge Road, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital following a short illness. Born July 5, 1940, in Ausable Forks, she was the daughter of Walter and Eva (Riel) Gero. Fern was raised and attended Catholic school in Ausable Forks and graduated from Adirondack Community College in 1978 with an RN degree in nursing and Dean's list honoree. She was employed by the Glens Falls Hospital and later as supervisor of nursing at both Westmount Nursing Home, Queensbury and then Eden Park Nursing Home, Glens Falls. Fern enjoyed painting and was presented with an award by Crandall Library of Glens Falls for her "Spirit of 76" painting. She also enjoyed traveling, and vacationed during the winter months and holidays in Florida. Fern was predeceased by one son, Glen Ray Kidder, who died Aug. 31, 1992, and by one brother, Martin Gero. She is survived by six children: Amelia Bocech and her husband, Michael, of Bushkill, Pa., Dennis Kidder and his companion, Maggie, of Glens Falls, Kandi Thompson of Kissimmee, Fla., fraternal twins, Brian Bigelow and his companion, Cindy, of Queensbury, and Robert Bigelow and his wife, Patty, of Hudson Falls, and Dominque Bisignano of Tampa, Fla.; three brothers: Tracy Gero of Troy, Harold Gero of Ausable Forks and Gary Reynolds of Pittstown; four sisters: Beatrice Abare of Ausable Forks, Sally Wahlers of Poughkeepsie, Marilyn Zeh of Westport and Barbara Garrow of Plattsburgh; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, March 11, at Stafford Funeral Home, Inc., 90 Montcalm St., Lake George. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bernard R. Turner, pastor of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church of Lake George, officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Birch Avenue, Lake George. Published in the Post-Star on 3/10/2005. Donohue, Dorothy A. NEWCOMB -- Dorothy A. Donohue, 84, of Marcy Lane, passed away, Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Adirondack Tri-County Health Care Center in North Creek. Born Aug. 17, 1920, in Whitehall, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mildred (Richardson) Prescott. Dorothy was a 1937 graduate of North Creek High School and a graduate of Mildred Elley Secretarial School. She married Raymond L. Donohue on July 5, 1940, at St. James Roman Catholic Parish in North Creek. The couple resided in North Creek for several years before moving to Tahawus. While her husband worked at the National Lead Corporation, she raised her four sons in a loving environment. Dorothy's family lived in Tahawus from 1947 until the town was moved to Newcomb in 1963. Dorothy began working at Newcomb Central School in 1958, and retired from her secretarial position in 1977. Since her marriage, Dorothy was a communicant of St. Therese Roman Catholic Church. She was a choir member, organist and bookkeeper for the church for many years. Her faith and participation were an inspiration to her family and friends. Her favorite activities included her passion for downhill skiing, (which is shown in the display area at Gore Mountain Ski Center), cross-country skiing into Newcomb Lake, sewing elaborate quilts, and making the neighborhood come alive with her knack for growing flowers. Dorothy imparted those special life pursuits to her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her many winter trips to North Myrtle Beach gave her much pleasure, along with special trips to Colorado, Alaska, Louisiana and Bermuda. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Raymond of Newcomb; her four sons: Michael and his wife, Valerie, of Bozeman, Mont., Terrance and his wife, Merilee Marsh, of Niskayuna, Bruce of Cold Spring, and John and his wife, Lysa Stewart, of Big Bear, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; her three sisters, Marilyn Muha of Metuchen, N.J., Ann Arnheiter of North Creek, Helene Rocque of Satellite Beach, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Dorothy's family from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 4479 state Route 28, North River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Therese Roman Catholic Church in Newcomb, with Father Peter Berg, pastor, officiating. The Rite of Committal will take place in the spring in St. Therese Cemetery, Newcomb. Nygaard, 76, of Sherman Road went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital following a long illness. Born on Jan. 24, 1929, in Queens, she was the daughter of Arnt and Lily Kristine (Kristiansen) Twetan. For many years, she was employed as an assistant chef at Yaddo in Saratoga Springs. She was an active member of the Pine Knolls Alliance Church in South Glens Falls. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Gunnar Nygaard, whom she married on June 15, 1946; two sons, Stephen Nygaard and his wife, Heather, and Gordon Nygaard and his wife, Shelly, all of Wilton; three daughters: Sissel Rowe and her husband, Tom, of Cleveland, Ohio, Kristin Donovan and her husband, Mike, of Wilton, and Eva Wood and her husband, Dan, of Voorheesville; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Pine Knolls Alliance Church, 614 Gansevoort Road, South Glens Falls. Burial will be private at South Wilton Cemetery. There are no calling hours scheduled. Saunders, 55, of Prospect Street, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at his home after a long illness. Born in Greenwich on Jan. 4, 1950, he was the son of the late Cyril O. Saunders and C. Irene (Moore) Saunders. Tom was a lifelong resident of Greenwich. He married his wife, the former Sandra L. Herrington, on June 12, 1968, in Greenwich. He was a salesman for many years throughout the area, and last worked in the transportation department for Woodlawn Commons, and Wesley Health Care in Saratoga. He was Past Master and member of Ashler Chapter No. 584 Free & Accepted Masons, Fides Triangle, the Pony of America Association, Washington County 4-H, and was formerly active on the Village of Greenwich Planning Board. Tom was also a member of the Bottskill Baptist Church of Greenwich, and attended the Argyle United Presbyterian Church. Tom enjoyed being involved with the Washington County Fair, judging horse shows, and working with youth all throughout the Northeast. His pride and joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren, and watching them grow up. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Joan M. Marchese. Survivors include his wife, Sandra, of 37 years; his son, Todd Saunders and his wife, Lara, of Bennington, Vt.; his daughters, Tonya Schneible and her husband, David, of Argyle and Tracy Petrie and her husband, Richard, of Homer, N.Y.; six grandchildren - (his favorite six-pack), Nicholas Petrie, Michelle Saunders, Eric Petrie, Katelynn Schneible, Megan Saunders, and Zachary Schneible, and his companion, Casey, the family dog; his sisters, Delores Ryans and her husband, James, of Mystic, Conn., Verna Stone of Beaverton, Oregon, and Marilyn Stewart and her husband, James, of McComb, Ohio; his brothers, David Saunders and his wife, Diane, of Mechanicville, and Gary Saunders of Greenwich; and several aunts, uncles, nieces nephews, cousins, and many friends. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 11, at the United Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Argyle. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m Saturday, March 12, at the church, with the Rev. Stephen McLean, pastor, officiating.
