"Dick" HUDSON FALLS -- Richard W. "Dick" Barry Sr., 68, of John Street, went into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at his home. Born on May 21, 1936, in Ilion, he was the son of the late Richard J. and Eva (Smith) Barry. After being together for 17 years, he married Charlotte Burch on Dec. 24, 1997, in Hudson Falls. Dick worked for more than 28 years as a watchman and fireman at the Chase Bag Co., formerly located in the town of Moreau. After Chase Bag closed, he worked at Eden Park Health Care Facility in Glens Falls, as a porter, until his retirement. He enjoyed watching the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church services broadcast on local TV every Sunday morning. Dick was a 24-year member of the Hudson Falls Fire Department and also served with the Fort Edward Rescue Squad, Inc. He enjoyed collecting coins, firefighting memorabilia and model cars. Dick was a quiet man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. According to his grandchildren, "He was the best grandfather anyone could have." In addition to his loving wife, Charlotte Barry of Hudson Falls, he is survived by five children, Rick Barry of Queensbury, Gayle Barry of Minnesota, Brenda Berg of Minnesota, Chris Barry of Pittsford, Vt., Daniel Barry of Lake Luzerne; three stepchildren, Larry Davis and his wife, Liz, of Virginia, Mark Davis of Saratoga Springs and Lisa Shannon and her husband, Paul, of Hudson Falls; two brothers, Edmund Barry and his wife, Betty, of Tennessee and Reginald Prouty of Hudson Falls; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, March 11, 2005 at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. The Hudson Falls Fire Department and Support group will meet tonight at 6 p.m. at the funeral home to pay their respects. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Lefurgey, pastor of the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church, officiating. Spring burial will be at Union Cemetery, in the town of Fort Edward. Clark, Randon Michael CORINTH -- Randon Michael Clark, infant son of Kasey Clark and Chantal Fortune, went with the angels on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Albany Medical Center. Survivors besides his parents include one sister, Alexandra Clark of Corinth; his paternal grandparents, Kevin and Donna Clark of Longview Texas, and Alise McCall of Maud, Texas; his maternal grandparents, Tim and Toni DiLorenzo of Corinth and Rhonda Rhodes of Corinth; his paternal great-grandparent, Joann Brewer of Douglasville, Texas; his maternal great-grandparents, Joyce Day of Corinth and Harriet Yannaci of Lake Luzerne; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. CORINTH -- Carl L. Frasier, 87, formerly of Walnut Street, and a lifelong resident of Corinth, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Wesley Health Care Center, where he had been residing for the past two years. Born on July 14, 1917, in Corinth, he was the son of Franklin and Iva (Queeni) Frasier. Mr. Frasier graduated from Corinth High School. He married Josephine Barbera on June 19, 1942, in Saratoga Springs. The couple resided in Corinth for many years. Mr. Frasier joined the United States Army in 1942, serving during World War II until his honorable discharge in 1945. He was then employed at the International Paper Co. in Corinth as a clerk until his retirement in 1982. He was also a member of the IP Quarter Century Club. Mr. Frasier was a founding member of the Hudson River Credit Union and served for 35 years as secretary of the Board of Directors. He enjoyed bowling and was secretary and longtime member of the EMBA bowling league. He also enjoyed golfing and was a member of Brookhaven Golf Club for many years. Mr. Frasier was a veracious reader, and reading was always a very important part of his life. Besides his parents, four brothers, Donald Frasier, Gerald Frasier, Merrill "Banjo" Frasier, and Richard Frasier; and one sister, Janet Holmes, all died before him. Survivors besides his wife of 62 years include one daughter, Phyllis Lescault and her husband, Jean Guy, of Stillwater; three grandchildren, Scott Lescault and his wife, Tami, of Stillwater, Laurie Gazzelli and her husband, Stefano, of Orlando, Fla., and Neil Lescault of Stillwater; seven great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Dean, Brahe, Gianna, Paige, Luc, and Leah; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2005, at the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth. Spring burial will be at Corinth Rural Cemetery. Miller, Barbara Lynch Pinehurst, N.C. -- Barbara Lynch Miller died peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2005. Barbara was born on Nov. 8, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Seibert and Mary Lynch. She graduated from South Pasadena, Calif., High School in 1949 and Occidental College in 1953. After graduation, she moved to Carmel, Calif., for her first of several positions as a schoolteacher. While in Carmel, she met and married Charles M. Miller. Barbara's growing family spent time in New York City, Burlington and Randolph, Vt., and South West Africa. In 1965, the family settled in Norwich, Vt., where Barbara continued her teaching work. Barbara was instrumental in developing the remedial reading program and the Odyssey Project at the Marion Cross School. In 1997, Barbara earned a master's degree and moved back to California to begin her second career as a vocational rehabilitation counselor. She lived for several years in Upland, Calif., where she was an active member of the Upland Hills Country Club, serving as the president of the Women's Golf Association. In 1997, Barbara retired to Pinehurst, N.C. to pursue her twin loves of golf and writing. Barbara was a published novelist, a voracious reader and a member of the Sandhills Writers Group. She was also an active supporter of the Given Memorial Library, a participant in the Red Hat Society, an intrepid traveler and a devoted dog lover. Barbara is survived by her son, Bartlett Miller, his wife, Karen, and their two sons, Forrest and Graham of Norwich, Vt.; her daughter, Rebecca and her friend, Bob Dupuis, of Shushan; her daughter, Sarah, of Albany; her sisters, Patti Lynch and Linda McGranahan, and many beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Powell Funeral Home, 160 East New Hampshire Ave., Southern Pines, N.C. Stanley, 95, formerly a resident of Midtown Apartments and the Landing of Queensbury, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Queensbury. Born on May 11, 1909, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late DeForest and Elizabeth (Lattimore) Peno. Mrs. Stanley worked at Clark Glove Factory for many years. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Besides her parents, her first husband, Allen E. Doty, and her second husband, Clifford Stanley, predeceased her. She was also predeceased by three sisters: Dorothy Buttles, Elsie Wolfe and Grace Hillis, and two brothers, Forrest Peno and Clarence Peno. Survivors include her son, Allen Doty of South Glens Falls; her grandchildren: Bryan Doty and his companion, Beth, of Glens Falls, Stephen Doty and his wife, Sharon, of Saratoga and Karen Hoag of South Glens Falls; six great-grandchildren; a stepson, David Stanley of Spring Hill, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Winchell of South Granville, five stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m., on Friday, March 11, at Regan & Denny Funeral Home, 94 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls. Burial will be in the spring at Glens Falls Cemetery. "Punky" LAKE LUZERNE -- Lillian F. "Punky" Straight, 73, of East River Drive, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness. Born on May 8, 1931, in Lake Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Lillian (St. John) Bourdeau. Mrs. Straight graduated as salutatorian from Hadley-Luzerne High School. She married Roger P. Straight on April 3, 1949, in Lake George. The couple resided in Lake Luzerne for many years. Mrs. Straight enjoyed walking, car rides, shopping, her cat "Miss Kitty," and mostly enjoyed spending time with her family. Besides her parents, two sisters, Gloria J. Deuel and Yvonne Bourdeau and one brother, Billy Bourdeau, all died before her. Survivors, besides her husband of 55 years, include three daughters, Paulette Zubal and her husband, Fred, of Lake Luzerne, Cheryl Gilles and her husband, Rodney, of Belews Creek, N.C., and Pamela Facteau and her husband, Richard, of Corinth; nine grandchildren: Christopher Waite and his wife, Lisa, of High Point, N.C., Toni Springer and her husband, Robert, of Lake Luzerne, Colleen Locke of Hadley, Lori Facteau of Corinth, Penny Ferris and her husband, Patrick, of Hadley, Bruce Waite and his wife, Tara, of Kernersville, N.C., Ricky Facteau of Corinth, Amanda Waite of Kernersville, N.C., and Rayl Zubal of Lake Luzerne; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, MaryLee Bourdeau of Lake Luzerne, Margaret Brewster and her husband, Peter, of Lake Luzerne, Carol Lucia and her husband, Richard, of Corinth, and Elizabeth "Cindy" Lawrence and her husband, Keith, of Corinth; four brothers: Francis "Buster" Bourdeau and his wife, Irene, of Blue Mountain Lake, Levi Bourdeau of Corinth, Lynn "Butch" Bourdeau of Corinth and Michael Bourdeau and his wife, Nancy, of Lake Luzerne; two aunts, Helen Allen of Lake Luzerne and Jean Bourdeau of Hadley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth, with the Rev. Myron Ducharme, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Lake Luzerne, officiating. Burial will be at Luzerne Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Villa, Richard Thomas SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- Richard Thomas Villa on Sunday evening, March 6, 2005, after his struggle with diabetes, concluded his life's journey peacefully at Saratoga Hospital. He is survived and deeply missed by his wife Bonnie of 36 years, and two children, David Villa of South Glens Falls, and Michael Richard Villa with wife, Laurie, of Gibsonton, Fla. Also mourning his loss will be his siblings, Mary Sumner, Peter "Jim" Villa and his wife, Carol, Lucille Russell, Barbara Bardin, and Laura Antonsen. Richard was predeceased by both of his parents, Fred and Ada, along with his brother, William Villa, who is survived by our aunt Sarah. He was born March 25, 1931, in Glens Falls. In 1949, after high school graduation, he moved to the Illinois area for the summer and joined the United States Navy, where he excelled in aviation and electronics. In 1953, he was honorably discharged and awarded the National Defense Service Medal and a medal for good conduct. From there, with the Lord in his heart, he traveled to Indiana and joined the Seminary to become a Catholic priest, where he remained God's servant for the next 14 years. Upon visiting various hospitals in the area to give "last rights" and provide blessings to the ill, he met his future wife, Bonnie. He gave up his position with the church to marry Bonnie and start a family. He eventually moved back to South Glens Falls to raise his family. He then spent the next 17 years working as a laborer at Finch, Pruyn, Inc., where he made many friends and worked countless hours until his retirement in 1998. Dick's humorous spirit will continue to remain through those who knew and loved him. He was a truly dedicated husband to his wife and a tremendous father. At Dick's request, he will be cremated immediately and no viewing hours will be scheduled. The family would like to thank Wesley Nursing Home for taking care of him the past two months, and the Moreau Emergency Squad, Inc. for their tireless efforts in serving our family and community.
