WHITEHALL -- Rita A. Belden, 63, of Blinn Street, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 3, 1941, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Minnie (Starks) Belden. Rita had a loving and giving heart. She was always there to help anyone and never asked for anything in return. She devoted most of her adult life to caring for her mother, who passed away in 1999. Rita's favorite pastime was playing poker with her family and she really enjoyed her trips to Turning Stone Casino. She was also an avid Yankees fan. She enjoyed the company of her nieces and nephews and was the favorite aunt to many of them. She loved her dog, "Fonzie," who gave her much comfort and company. She worked for E. B. Metals in Whitehall for over 30 years until they went out of business, then she worked for the local plywood company until August of last year, when she had to stop working because of her illness. Besides her parents, Rita was predeceased by her sister, Marie Martel, who passed away Aug. 1, 2001. Rita is survived by two sisters, Geri LaPorte and her husband, Art, of Hudson Falls, and Beverly O'Dell and her husband, Larry, of Whitehall; four brothers: Earl Belden Jr. and his wife, Kay, Milfred Belden and his wife, Mary, Ronald Belden and his wife, Doris, Melvin Belden and his fiance‚, Brenda Sue Banks, all of Whitehall; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the spring at North Granville Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution in Rita's name to the Oncology Department of the Glens Falls Hospital, 102 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801. Cullinan, 91, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the Center for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, Vt. A full obituary will appear in Tuesday's edition of The Post-Star. Hunt, Joyce WHITE CREEK -- Joyce Hunt, 48, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt. She resided on Lincoln Hill Road in White Creek with her husband, Joseph "Joe" Hunt and her mother-in-law, Ruth Hunt. Joe and Joyce were married on July 3, 1974. Joyce was born on June 29, 1956, in Salem, N.Y., the daughter of Claude and Mary Jane "Ely" Morehouse. She was educated at schools in Salem and was a homemaker all of her life. Joyce enjoyed gardening, watching birds and all wildlife, crocheting and taking long rides in the car with her husband, Joe. She loved to be with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors besides her husband, Joe, and mother-in-law, Ruth, include her daughter, Jennifer and her fianc‚, Richard Jordan, of White Creek; her son, Jason and his fiance‚, Audra Frost, of White Creek; two brothers, William Morehouse and his wife, Marsha, of Hudson Falls, and Robert Morehouse and his wife, Connie, of Amsterdam; a sister, Linda Morehouse of Maryland; her grandchildren: Erin Hunt, Christian Hunt, Tanner Wolfrum, Riley Joseph Mark Hunt and Richard Allen Jordan Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Tom Hunt and his wife, Linda, of White Creek. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Joyce was predeceased by five sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St., Hoosick Falls. Burial will be at a later date at Rosewood Cemetery, White Creek. McMore, 88, passed away with his loving family by his side, on Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital following a short illness. Born on April 27, 1916, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Thurman and Carrie (Hall) McMore. Clarence was a former employee of the town of Whitehall and retired from the New York State Department of Corrections, Great Meadow Correctional Facility, as a heavy equipment operator in the maintenance department. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his animals and working in his garden and especially his rose garden. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Norman McMore; and two sisters, Anna Leahy and Ruth Barnard. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, whom he married on Nov. 7, 1936, Pauline (Caracciola) McMore of Whitehall; one son, Paul R. McMore of Glens Falls; two daughters, Karen A. McMore of Glens Falls, and Beverly Barberis and her husband, John, of Sciota; seven grandchildren: Carla (Barberis) Ryan, Kevin Barberis and his wife, Kathy, Robert Barberis and his wife, Peggy, Nicholas Guyette and his fiance‚, Alicia, Timothy Guyette and his companion, Tammy, Henry Gartner, and Charles Gartner; five great-grandchildren: Katrina, Dwayne, Zachery, Shane and Darya; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall. Interment will be in the spring at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mitchison, 95, formerly of county Route 12, passed away Friday, March 11, 2005, at Indian River Rehabilitation and Health Center in Granville. Born on May 24, 1909, in Whitehall, she was the daughter of the late Newell E. and Alice Mitchell Morse. Catherine was a homemaker, caregiver and enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John T. Mitchison, who died on April 11, 1992; her granddaughter, Karen Mitchison Wenz; three brothers, William Morse, Ernest Morse and Stanley Morse; and two sisters, Evelyn Parrott and Christina Smith. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce McCarthy and her husband, Lawrence, of Kirkland, Wash., and Sandra Rozell and her husband, Wilbur, of Whitehall; two sons, Raymond Mitchison and his wife, Meredith, of North Chatham, and Thomas Mitchison and his wife, Lyn, of North Chatham; one sister, Mary Morse of Bomoseen, Vt.; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall, with the Rev. C. Published in the Post-Star on 3/14/2005. Pope, Susan Marie (McPhee) VESTAL, N.Y .u Susan Marie (McPhee) Pope, 49, of Vestal, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005, at home surrounded by her family. Susan was born in Whitehall, on July 15, 1955, the daughter of Robert and Catherine McPhee. She graduated from Whitehall Central School in 1973 and State University of New York at Potsdam in 1977. Susan was married to Alan J. Pope in 1980. She took great pride in her work. She was employed for a number of years at LINK in Binghamton, and more recently at Lockheed Martin in Owego, as a program manager. Family was very important to Susan. She enjoyed spending time with her children, especially summers vacationing in Cape May, N.J. She enjoyed spending time with her parents, siblings, and their families, especially the annual Christmas shopping weekend. Another one of her joys was her little red dachshund, Roxie. Besides her parents, Susan is survived by her son, Christopher James Pope; and two daughter, Megan Marie Pope and Maressa Kate Pope, all of Vestal. She is also survived by one brother, Michael and Janice McPhee of Ballston Spa; five sisters: Patricia and Lawrence Young of Russell, N.Y., Nancy and Charles Henn of Crown City, Ohio, Cynthia and Leo Rigby of Queensbury, Judith and Barlow Rozell, of Fort Edward, and Ellen and Robert Touchette of Whitehall; several nieces and nephews; and her dear friends, Alan and Rose Pope. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Church, corner of Main Street and Lester Avenue, Johnson City. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton.
