Born Feb. 12, 1915, in Fort Edward, he was the son of the late Antonio and Rose (DiNucci) Aurelia. Angelo married Marjorie Wilcox, on April 13, 1941, at St. Joseph's Church, Fort Edward. Angelo worked for the former Hercules, Inc., in Queensbury for many years. He was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran serving in India and Burma as an aircraft mechanic. He enjoyed playing chess, dancing, and most of all, spending time with his family. Mr. Aurelia was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Marjorie Wilcox Aurelia. His sisters, Mary Iuliucci, Carmela Greco Fish, and Olympia Ruotolo; his brothers, Nicholas Aurelia and Louis Aurelia, and his grandson-in-law, Jak Quinton, also all predeceased him. Survivors include his daughters, Joan Schlesinger of Plainsboro, N.J., and Nancy Aurelia of Troy; his son, Raymond Aurelia and his wife, Liz (Federice), of South Glens Falls; his sister, Jennie Cronin and her husband, Paul, of Fort Edward; his brothers, Edward Aurelia and his wife, Lois, of Glens Falls and Ralph Aurelia of Fort Edward; his grandchildren, Jacquelyn Quinton of Emmaus, Pa., Jeffrey Marsh and his wife, Marisin, of Kennesaw, Ga., Laurie Cerveny and her husband, David, of Winchester, Mass., Michelle White and her husband, Jeffrey, of Bedford, N.H., Rachel Aurelia of Brighton, Mass., Daniel O'Rourke and his wife, Michele, of Fayetteville, N.C., and Maryanne O'Rourke and Angel Sardinia of Fort Edward; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Doherty, William H. CORINTH -- William H. Doherty, 84, of Walnut Street, died Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by loving family. Born in Corinth, N.Y., on Jan. 29, 1921, he was the son of the late Stephen and Elizabeth (Knobbs) Doherty. Mr. Doherty graduated from Corinth High School in 1939. Bill joined the United States Navy on Aug. 10, 1942, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II aboard the Aircraft Carrier, USS Sitkoh Bay. He was honorably discharged as a decorated veteran in the summer of 1946. On Sept. 9, 1946, William Doherty married Beverly E. Rogers; the couple resided in Corinth for their entire lives. After an illustrious 36-year career on the Corinth Police Force, serving for more than 22 years as the Chief of Police, Bill Doherty retired from the police force in 1982 and continued his public service as a Republican councilman for the town of Corinth from 1988 through 2005. "Bill" was a gifted athlete, excelling at every sport involving a stick and a ball, in particular baseball, tennis and golf. During tournament play in 1965 at the Bend of the River Golf Course, "Bill" set the golf course record for 18 holes. Honest, open and heartfelt, Bill was a man who felt most comfortable around family and friends. Bill was a giving and generous man who loved his family, his home and his town. "The true measure of a man is found in his faith and his heart. It is found in the friends who stand by him, the strength he displays under pressure, and the sensitivity he unashamedly expresses. And it's found in the truth of his words, the genuineness of his life, his unselfish actions, and the values he lived by." Bill outlived his beloved wife Beverly and siblings: Joe, Ike, Duffy, George, Steve, James Doherty, Verna Walker, Madeline VanDenburg, and Sister Josephine Spindler. Survivors include two daughters, Dana Corrine Baker and her husband, Col. (Ret.) Stuart Baker of Washington D.C., and Kathi Lynn Raucci and her husband, Joseph, of Saratoga Springs; one sister, Evelyn McKenzie of Richmond, Va.; a granddaughter, Kiersten DeLisle and her husband, John, of Schuylerville, one great-grandson, Cade Stuart DeLisle of Schuylerville; myriad nieces, nephews and cousins, and his lifelong friend and nephew, Lynn Walker and wife, Judy, of Corinth. Bill will be missed by family, friends, colleagues and the many people whose lives he touched with generosity and good will. Farr, Virginia Helms LONG LAKE -- Virginia Helms Farr, 92, of Kickerville Road, died Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005, at her home in Long Lake in the company of her family. She was born March 27, 1913, in Long Lake, the daughter of Oakman and Elsie (Rogers) Helms. Virginia graduated from Long Lake Central School, valedictorian of the Class of 1931. On June 22, 1934, she and Charles Henry Farr of Long Lake were married at the rectory of St. Henry's Church. They raised their family on Walker Road. Mrs. Farr had worked at Freeman's Store, the Adirondack Museum and the Bankers Trust of Long Lake. An accomplished musician, Virginia had been the organist of St. Henry's Church for more than 60 years. She and her husband had played together for many Long Lake Square Dances. Her talents were volunteered for any worthwhile occasion. She especially enjoyed living independently surrounded by her family and tending to her flower gardens. She was a charter member of the St. Henry's Catholic Daughters. Surviving are her four children, Charles Richard "Dick" Farr and his companion, Judith Nerney, Jeanne Plumley and her husband, Lew, James Henry Farr and his wife, Meredith, and Judith Garrison and her husband, Dave, all of Long Lake; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Macnab and her husband, Alan, of Lake Placid and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband in 1981, a son, David John; her brothers, Herbert, Gilbert and Edward and a sister, Ellen Bock. Memorial calling hours will be held at the St. Henry's Church Parish Center on Wednesday, March 30 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005, at St. Henry's Church. Frazier, 87, of Latham, beloved husband of the late Cecilia A. Dolan Frazier, died Monday, March 28, 2005, at his residence. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late James F. and Etta Minkler Frazier. He was a staff sergeant in the United States Army during World War II and the recipient of the bronze star. He was the president of Vandecar-Harmon Inc. in Albany for more than 19 years and retired in 1981. He was charter member No. 52 of the Colonie Elks Lodge No. 2192 and a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 192 in Cohoes. Jim was a member of the Watervliet V.F.W. Post 729 and the seventh armored division association. Survivors include his loving children, James W. (Debi) Frazier of St. Joseph, Mo., Margaret E. (Jens Peter) Sorensen of Saranac Lake and Cecilia E. (Gary) Clair of Schenectady; he is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Hughes Jr., 80, of Spruce Court, passed away Easter Sunday evening, March 27, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. Born May 26, 1924, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Rowland W. and Lena (Smith) Hughes Sr. Mr. Hughes graduated from South Glens Falls High School, Class of 1943, after completing only 3 1/2 years of high school. Rowland married Marie Wynne-Roberts on June 17, 1950, in Glens Falls. In February 1943, he then entered the Pre-Meteorological Program at Bowdoin College of the Army Air Force weather service and was stationed there for a year, later moving on to other bases during his 36 months in the weather service, being honorably discharged February 1946 from Westover Field, Springfield, Mass. Furthering his education, he attended Skidmore College, graduating with the class of 1950 with a major in physics. This, too, he completed in only 3-1/2 years. In 1957, he joined Kamyr Inc. of Glens Falls, and was their purchasing agent for nearly 30 years of dedicated service, working with people from all over the world, retiring in 1986. Rowland was a 49-year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls, serving two terms as Deacon, an Elder for many years, and over 45 years as usher in the church. For several years, he was a member of the Membership Committee. He had often said many of his happiest times were spent working with so many wonderful people in the church. Many of his closest friends were made in church-related activities over the past 50 years. His hobbies included oil painting, photography, listening to classical music including opera, the piano, and was always reading and learning many various fields. Above all, he was a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather, and who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Marie Hughes of Queensbury; one son, the Rev. David Hughes and his wife, Deborah, of Springfield, Mass.; two grandchildren, Miranda and Adam Hughes also of Massachusetts; several cousins; and his two precious little Shih Tzus, Kelsey and Oliver. A Memorial service, to celebrate Rowland's life, will be held Thursday, March 31, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls, Glen Street, with the Rev. John Barclay, pastor, officiating. There will be a reception in the Pruyn Room at the church following the service, for the family to greet friends and associates. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury. Joseph, Annie E. GLENS FALLS -- Annie E. Joseph, 93, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Eden Park Health Care Center. She had been a resident of Cronin High Rise for more than 20 years before moving to Eden Park. Born Feb. 20, 1912, in Baldwin, La., she was the daughter of the late Saseen and Della (Gabriel) Joseph. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Glens Falls. Annie was one of the first female ushers at St. Mary's. Annie was a retired employee of the Troy Shirt Guild. She had worked as a waitress at many well-known area restaurants. She was predeceased by three sisters, Josephine Sabo, Lilly Herbert and Yvette Cusimano; two brothers, Fred Joseph and William Joseph. Survivors include one sister, Delia Deeb of Queensbury; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, Glens Falls. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls. LaRose, 67, a lifelong resident of Hudson Falls, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Oct. 11, 1937, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late James and Sparango (Poolos) Poulos. In 1955, she gradated from Hudson Falls High School, which was the last class to graduate from the old high school. She continued her education at Mildred Elley School in Albany. Stella worked as a legal secretary for the law firm Willard White and his son, David White, and later at the Law Offices of William A. Bacas, all located at one time in Glens Falls. For many years, Stella was employed at the Warren County Veterans Administration, retiring in 2001. Many people would remember her as their waitress on Sunday mornings at Steve's Place in Queensbury. Stella was very active in Boy Scout Troop No. 156 of Hudson Falls, where she was secretary and treasurer. Every year, Stella held an anniversary party at her home on Gibson Avenue for all the Boy Scouts and their parents. Stella was also very active with the Boy Scout fund-raising, which included working at the Sandy Hill Days booth and the bottle drive. Stella was currently in the Hudson Falls class reunion committee for their upcoming 50-year reunion. At one time, she was in a commercial with her mother, which ran nationally coast to coast for American General Insurance Group. Stella loved playing cards with her friends, Gert and Janet, and going to bingo. She enjoyed watching red cardinal birds and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Stella was a very proud Greek, who loved cooking Greek foods and pastries for her family and friends. She was a strong, independent woman who never hesitated telling people what she thought. Besides her parents, Stella was predeceased by an infant son, James P. LaRose, who passed away in 1973, her nephew, Peter J. Poulos, and her aunt, Nika Prokos. Survivors include her son, Michael J. LaRose and his special friend, Billie Jo Greene, of Hudson Falls; her two brothers, Tony J. Poulos of Queensbury and Michael J. Poulos and his wife, Mary Kay, of Houston, Texas; her aunt, Antonia Vamvalis of Queensbury; her niece, Denise V. Poulos of Houston, Texas; her stepniece, Julie A. Brown of Queensbury; her great-nieces and great- nephews, Michael J. Poulos II, Megan Poulos, Taylor Poulos and Petra Poulos; and several cousins. Shephard, 85, a resident of Loughberry Mobile Park, and formerly of Lynbrook, N.Y., and Hawley, Pa., died Monday, March 28, 2005, at Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs. Born May 13, 1919, in Manington, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Martin and Mary Cross. Mrs. Shephard was vice president of Shephard Fuel in Lynbrook, N.Y. She was a charter member of St. Mary's Council Knights of Columbus Lynbrook Ladies Auxiliary, a charter member of Tally Ho Engine Company No. 3 Ladies Auxiliary, a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Lynbrook,and the Lakeville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers, one sister, and one grandson, Justin Shephard. Survivors include her husband, George E. Published in the Post-Star on 3/29/2005. West, Ronald Lee FORT ANN -- Ronald Lee West, 63, of 44 Clay Hill Road, Fort Ann, died Monday, March 28, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born July 30, 1941, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Arthur and Edith (Hunt) West. From 1958 to 1962, Mr. West served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He retired after 20 years from N.A.M.I.C., where he worked as an engineer. He also had his own machine shop business. Mr. West enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Julia (Bombard) West of Fort Ann; two sons, Daniel West of Glens Falls and Ronald West of Fort Ann; a brother, Robert West and his wife, Nancy, of Kingsbury; a sister, Gladys Fake of Queensbury; five grandchildren, Daniel, Meghan, Amber, Katie, and Tyler West.
