Born on Jan. 1, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of Nelson and Irene (Martin) Yaeger. Mary was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church of South Glens Falls. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and dancing.. Mary was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her parents predeceased her in death. Survivors include her husband, Alois F. Becker of Queensbury, whom she married on June 30, 1945; her children: Susanne M. Schiher and her husband, Stanley, of Merrill, Wis., Alois M. Becker and his wife, Donna, of Latham, Thomas J. Becker of Auburn, Lawrence N. Becker and his wife, Celma, of South Glens Falls, Timothy P. Becker and his wife, Kathleen, of Clifton Park, William P. Becker of Corning, and Patrick M. Becker and his wife, Cindy, of Gansevoort; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Friday, May 6, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls. Burial will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. Connor, Ann Nolan EASTON -- Ann Nolan Connor entered into eternal peace on Saturday, April 30, 2005. Born on April 29, 1926, at Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, N.Y., Ann was the daughter of John Nolan Sr. and Bridie Daily. She was raised on the family farm at Post Corners with seven brothers and sisters. As a child of the depression, Ann learned from her parents the spirit of generosity that she practiced throughout her life. Ann attended Post Corners District 5 one-room schoolhouse, and graduated from St. Mary's Academy of Hoosick Falls. She worked at Hoods Dairy as a milk tester during the war and then was a waitress at the Cambridge Hotel. During these years, she shared great fun with her sisters on the Saucy Sisters bowling team. On Oct. 17, 1953, Ann married her beloved husband, William J. Connor, of Easton. Together they worked their family farm on Cooke Hollow Road, where she was still living. Ann dedicated herself to the needs of family and friends. Her expressions of love were especially evident in her cooking and baking. She took joy in rural life, especially in gardening, berry picking and feeding the birds. Ann was a lifelong Democrat and was devoted to preserving the beauty of Easton. She will long be remembered as a person of strength and integrity. Ann served her community as co-leader of the Sugar and Spice 4-H Club, as a member of the Friends of the Easton Library and the Greenwich Central School Scholarship Committee. Ann moves forward to be reunited with those who have preceded her, especially her beloved husband, William; her sister, Rita Nolan McCart, and her brothers, John and James. A loving mother and grandmother, she will remain within her daughters, Elizabeth, Mary Jane, and Kathleen; her four grandchildren, William Cove, Connor Weis, John Nolan Cove, and Elizabeth Ann Cove; her two sons-in-law, Robert Weis and Thomas Cove. Ann will be remembered by her sisters, Mary Austin, Elizabeth Luke, and Katherine Gilchrist; her brother, William Nolan; and her many nieces and nephews. Ann was a faithful member of St. Monica's Catholic Church in Johnsonville until its closing in 2002, and later of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Schaghticoke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, at her childhood parish, St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cambridge. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery. Published in the Post-Star on 5/3/2005. Dolen, Diane Mary (DePalo) SCOTIA -- Diane Mary (DePalo) Dolen, 57, of Compton Place, passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday, April 30, 2005. Born on Sept. 29, 1947, at Glens Falls Hospital, she was the daughter of Patrick and Constance (Barney) DePalo of Hudson Falls. She was employed as a supervising nurse at Prestwick Chase in Saratoga, until her illness. Diane was a loving, compassionate, and caring person who took great pride in the care of her patients. Her greatest enjoyment was watching her sons sporting events and seeing them achieve their academic goals. She was the loving mother of two sons, Christopher and Michael Dolen, both of Scotia. Beside her parents, other survivors include her five sisters: Susan DePalo of Hudson Falls, Connie Steele of Hudson Falls, Mary Joan Baggot and her husband, Richard, of Ohio, Barbara Comstock and her husband, Keith, of Hudson Falls and Patricia DePalo of California; her nieces and nephew: Amy and Allison Steele, Angela and Rachel Baggot, Kaitlin and Kenneth Comstock; and her many cousins. She is also survived by her devoted dog, Dharma. Her family would like to thank Dr. Susan Weaver and all her caregivers who provided loving care and support at home. Folger, Frederick Daniel GLENS FALLS -- Frederick Daniel Folger, 66, of LaRose Gardens, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born Oct. 14, 1938, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Harold and Anna (Daly) Folger. Frederick graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1958. He was in the United States Army from 1961 until 1963. Frederick was a member of the Queensbury VFW Post 6196. He married his wife, Marilyn Grace (Brothers) Folger, July 1, 1961, at West Glens Falls Chapel. Frederick worked at Decora as a machine operator for many years until retiring in 1991. He enjoyed watching sports, fishing, gardening, listening to country music, and hanging out with his friends at Sully's. Besides his parents, Frederick was predeceased by his in-laws, Iva and Harold Brothers, and his brother-in-law, Addie Alba. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Marilyn Folger; his daughters, Tammy Folger of Queensbury, and Robin Matte and her husband, Paul, of Queensbury; his granddaughter, Brooke Matte of Queensbury; his sister, Elaine Alba of California; his nieces, Teri Mandariono and her husband, Tom, and Lisa Ribouich and her husband, John, all of California; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. Goodwin, Franklin George SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- Franklin George Goodwin, 66, of Hilton Drive, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2005, at the home of his sister, Lelia and Bernard Gordon, following a courageous battle with cancer. Frank was born March 2, 1939, in Saratoga Springs, the son of the late Harold and Helen (Cossey) Goodwin. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy of Glens Falls . Frank was U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1960 to 1963. For the past 10 years Frank worked as vice president of Human Resources for Command Security in San Mateo, Calif. He enjoyed spending summer vacations in New York with his brothers and sisters. He was a beloved brother and uncle to all of his family and had a way of making everyone laugh and smile. Hawk of Caroline Street, died Saturday ,April 30, 2005, at her residence. She was 91. Born on Sept. 5, 1913, in St. Regis Falls, she was a daughter of the late William and Ruth (Mosher) Hughes. A graduate of Corinth High School, Louise lived in the Saratoga Springs area since 1953. She was best known for her involvement in the American Red Cross, where she was executive director for 25 years, and served a 17-year tenure as chapter director. She has received numerous acknowledgments over the years including being named "Woman of the Year" in 1985 by the Saratoga Springs Business and Professional Women's Organization and was also presented the Red Cross Manager Tiffany Award in 1985 and, in 1986, received the Red Cross Vice Presidential Award. Louise was most honored when she was chosen to be one of three panelists for a national presentation on service excellence in 1981. A communicant of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, she had many enjoyments and hobbies including gardening, shopping, traveling and writing poetry. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Guy H. Hawk, in 1971, and a daughter, Lorraine Suvak, who died in 2004. She is survived by her sons, Lindell Hawk and his wife, Faye, of Mt. Dora, Fla. and Wayne Hawk and his wife, Moira, of Schuylerville; her son-in-law, Michael Suvak of Johnson City, N.Y.; one sister, Helen Washburn of Lake Luzerne; seven grandchildren: Janice Baldwin of Edinburg, Curtis Hawk of Saranac Lake, Archdeacon Michael W. Suvak of New York, Christine Srnka of Johnson City, Rosemarie Murphy of Endwell, Scott Cofrancisco of Lake Luzerne and Mary Ash of Argyle; and 11 great grandchildren. VanGuilder Sr., 77, formerly of Bluebird Road, passed away, Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on Aug. 23, 1927, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Charles and Marsalene (Bushea) VanGuilder. Mr. VanGuilder served in the United States Army during World War II. His first wife, Clara Stone, died in 1992. He worked for Hercules, Inc., formerly in Queensbury, Signs of Progress, formerly in South Glens Falls, and then as a self employed electrician. Mr. VanGuilder enjoyed fishing, hunting and computers. Besides his parents and first wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Tom VanGuilder, who died in the line of duty during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Joyce VanGuilder of Argyle; four sons: James VanGuilder Jr. and his wife, Jennie, of North Carolina, Richard VanGuilder and his wife, Phyllis, of Kingsbury, Gaylord VanGuilder and his wife, Petrina, of Georgetown, Ky., and Bruce VanGuilder and his wife, Debby, of Hudson Falls; three daughters, Marilyn Barak of Kyle, Texas, Joan Crofutt and her husband, Erby, of Georgetown, Ky. and Irma VanGuilder and her fiance, Jeffery Hamblin, of Glens Falls; five stepsons, Robert Mattison, Michael Mattison, Raymond Mattison, Jeffrey Mattison and David Mattison; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles VanGuilder and his wife, Debbie, of Queensbury, Harry VanGuilder and his wife, Dorothy, of Glens Falls and Alfred VanGuilder and his wife, Rita ,of South Glens Falls; three sisters, Lucy Stark of Corinth, Mildred Munchback and her husband, Richard, of Galway, and Elizabeth Cooper and her husband, Les, of Corinth; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
