Gansevoort -- Lois M. Baker, 75, a resident of Gansevoort, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at The Stanton Health Care Facility in Queensbury. Born on Jan. 8, 1930, in Hague, she was the daughter of Charles and Lynden (Shattuck) Foote. She retired from Troy Shirt Factory Guild in Glens Falls in the late 1990s after many years of service. Lois was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls. She was an avid gardener who loved flowers and at one time owned her own flower shop in the Midtown Plaza in South Glens Falls. Lois had a special fondness in her heart for her cats and dogs. Besides her parents, Lois was predeceased by her husband, Dale A. Baker on June 17, 2000. Survivors include her children, Lynden Valentine of Florida, Paige Brower of Gansevoort, Rustin Baker of Gansevoort, and Clay Baker of Gansevoort; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lynden Robinson of Warrensburg, and Claire Vetter of New Jersey. A funeral service will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Regan & Denny Funeral Home, 94 Saratoga Avenue, South Glens Falls. Burial will follow at Glens Falls Cemetery. "Dick" Bentley, 80, of Rock City Road, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, after a short illness. Born on July 22, 1924, in Kingsbury, he was the son of the late Charles S. and Maud A. (Brown) Bentley. Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country during World War II in England, France, Germany and the Philippines. On May 14, 1947, he married Ruth Freebern in Kingsbury. After 47 wonderful years of marriage, his beloved wife passed away on Aug. 9, 1994. Dick was employed at General Electric in Fort Edward, for 30 years, retiring in 1984. As a great lover of the outdoors, Dick used to enjoy hunting and fishing and more recently, camping. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by numerous brothers and sisters. Survivors include his two sons, Richard L. Bentley and his wife, Jacqueline, of Lake Luzerne, and Robert L. Bentley and his wife, Robin Hafner-Bentley, of Queensbury; his four grandchildren: Joy Bernash and her husband, Addam, Velvet Bentley and Stephen Bentley, all of Lake Luzerne and Zachary Robert Hafner-Bentley of Queensbury; his sister, Joyce Cunningham and her husband, James, of Newcomb; his special friend, Everlyn Vickery and her son, Joseph Vickery, both of Kingsbury; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Derby, 97, a former resident of Pearl Street, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at the Wesley Health Care Facility in Saratoga Springs. Born Feb. 28, 1908, in Fort Miller, she was the daughter of the late Amidde and Virginia Gazaille Seney. Rose was a lifelong area resident and was a communicant of Notre Dame-Visitation Church in Schuylerville and a member of Court Stella Maris No. 396 Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed her grandchildren as well as crafts and gardening. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul Derby, a great-grand daughter, Ginger Derby and 10 brothers and sisters. Survivors include her sons, Earl J. Derby and his wife, Fawn, of Saratoga Springs, Robert L. Derby and his wife, Theresa, of Fort Edward, and Eugene P. Derby and his wife, Louise, of Schuylerville; one brother, Joseph Seney of Northumberland; and one sister, Elizabeth Dornan of Glens Falls; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great- grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2005, at Notre Dame-Visitation Church in Schuylerville, with the Rev. Christopher Welch, officiating. Published in the Post-Star on 5/6/2005. Dolen, Diane Mary (DePalo) SCOTIA -- Diane Mary (DePalo) Dolen, 57, of Compton Place, passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday, April 30, 2005. Born on Sept. 29, 1947, at Glens Falls Hospital, she was the daughter of Patrick and Constance (Barney) DePalo of Hudson Falls. She was employed as a supervising nurse at Prestwick Chase in Saratoga, until her illness. Diane was a loving, compassionate, and caring person who took great pride in the care of her patients. Her greatest enjoyment was watching her sons sporting events and seeing them achieve their academic goals. She was the loving mother of two sons, Christopher and Michael Dolen, both of Scotia. Beside her parents, other survivors include her five sisters: Susan DePalo of Hudson Falls, Connie Steele of Hudson Falls, Mary Joan Baggot and her husband, Richard, of Ohio, Barbara Comstock and her husband, Keith, of Hudson Falls and Patricia DePalo of California; her nieces and nephew: Amy and Allison Steele, Angela and Rachel Baggot, Kaitlin and Kenneth Comstock; and her many cousins. She is also survived by her devoted dog, Dharma. Her family would like to thank Dr. Susan Weaver and all her caregivers who provided loving care and support at home. Lynch, Kathryn "Kay" (Carroll) DELMAR -- Kathryn "Kay" (Carroll) Lynch, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Delmar Place, Delmar, where she had resided since January 2005. Prior to that she had lived in Menands for the last 35 years. Kay was a lifelong resident of the Albany area. She was the wife of the late Bernard J. Lynch and daughter of the late Thomas and Kathryn Carroll of Troy. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and the College of St. Rose. Prior to her marriage she was employed at General Electric, Schenectady. Kay was an avid golfer and bridge layer and a member of Wolfert's Roost Country Club for almost 50 years. She is survived by her daughters, Christina Roberts and her husband, Hugh, of Albany and Bolton Landing; Veronica Lynch of Albany and her children, Kerry of Boston, Mass. and Matthew of Rochester; and Sharon Fenno and her husband, Mark of Delmar; and her sister-in-law, Mary Lynch. A grandson, Hugh D. Roberts Jr. died before her. The family would like to thank the Klersy family and their staff at Delmar Place, the Hospice staff and the staff at St. Peter's ALS Center. Claire McCormick, 68, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Born July 29, 1936, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Louise (Gros) McCormick Sr. She was a graduate of Glens Falls High School, Class of 1954, and Mildred Elley School in Boston. Claire worked at the First National Bank of Glens Falls for 34 years before retiring, and then the Prudential Insurance Co. in Glens Falls. She loved to watch QVC, and her family will always remember the unique gifts she would give. Claire was predeceased by a cousin, Richard Silvernail. Survivors include one brother, William "Pete" McCormick Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Hudson Falls; nieces: Nancy Morrissey and her husband, Dave, of Queensbury, Connie McCormick of Steamboat Springs, Colo., and Judi Stento and her husband, Paul, of Albany, a nephew, Bill McCormick and his wife, Lauren, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; great nieces, Jessica and Allyce Morrissey, Emily and Lindsey Stento and Mia McCormick; a great nephew, Matthew Stento; a special cousin, Eleanor Silvernail; and longtime companion, Bernd Hartung of Glens Falls. The family would like to thank the staff at Glens Falls Hospital for their compassion and care. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Church, Broad Street, Glens Falls.
