GLENS FALLS -- William H. Benson, 84, of First Street, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his family following a short illness. Born July 17, 1920, in Rutland, Vt., he was the son of the late John and Edna (Howard) Benson. He married Doris (Baker) Benson on Dec. 25, 1949, with whom he shared 11 children and many wonderful years. William enjoyed farming in his younger years. He took much enjoyment in his children, 36 grandchildren, 37 great- grandchildren, and his pets. Looking after his wife who is disabled, and having family around, meant a lot to him. We will all miss him very much. Besides his parents, his son, Kevin Benson; his great-grandson, Nicholas Allen Denton; four brothers, John, Harry, Wilber and Albert Benson; and one sister, Rose Reed, also predecease him. Besides his wife, Doris, he is survived by three daughters: Percilla McNulty and her husband, Edward, of Schenectady, Patricia Scoville and her husband, Robert, of Glens Falls, and Edna Winter and her husband, Chris of Crown Point; seven sons: William Benson and his wife, Deb, of Queensbury, Keith Benson of Queensbury, Gerald Benson of Glens Falls, James Benson and his wife, Diana, of Glens Falls, Edward Benson of Florida, Karl Benson and his wife, Wanda, of Crown Point, and Brian Benson and his wife, Cindy, of Fort Edward; 36 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, with Deacon William F. Bazinet of St. Alphonsus Church, Glens Falls, officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery immediately following the funeral services. Brayton, 71, of Needle Park Circle, went into the arms of the Lord, surrounded by his loving family and friends, on Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on March 30, 1934, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Iselin and Dorothy (Carter) Brayton. Jerry was a graduate of Lake George High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On May 26, 1985, he married Lynn Feron at Crandall Park in Glens Falls. In his early years, he built houses with his father locally, and then with Northern Homes. He also worked as a millwright for several years at NIBCO and then NAMIC until retirement in 1997. He was born and raised in the Lake George area. Jerry enjoyed being with his wife, children and grandchildren and going on country rides. His favorite hobby, since the age of 10, was building radio-controlled airplanes. He also enjoyed golf and Ebay. Published in the Post-Star from 5/7/2005 - 5/8/2005. Curran Sr., Stephen M. TROY -- Stephen M. Curran Sr., 66, of Troy, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 5, 2005. He was the son of the late John and Anna Harrington Curran, and beloved husband of Bernadette D. Foley Curran. Born in Troy, Stephen was a lifelong resident. Stephen graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1956, and went on to graduate from Siena College in 1960. He had worked for Metropolitan Insurance as an adjuster, then for the New York State Thruway Authority, where he was supervisor of office services and building maintenance until his retirement. After retirement, Stephen taught adult education through Questar at Rensselaer County Jail, where his students and co-workers had great respect for him. He was a former member and former officer of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Stephen was a lector and parish counsel at St. Joseph's Church, where he was also a bingo worker and treasurer of the bingo committee. He also served as an usher at St. Anthony's Church. In addition to his loving wife, Stephen is survived by his children: Kelly Curran, Colleen (Gary) Zebrowski, Maureen (Ken) Bonesteel, Stephanie (Kevin) Mannis, Erin Sherman, and Stephen M. (Terry) Curran Jr.; his grandchildren: Melissa and Matthew Kelts, Lauren and Jennifer Fumarola, David, Dylan, and Ryan Fumarola, Jake Adams, Sean, and Katy Mannis, Emily, and Joshua Bonesteel, Brendan, and Adam Zebrowski, Kayleigh, and Chelsea Sherman, and Jordyn Chaput; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Kelts. Stephen is the brother of Anne (Leonard) McHugh, John (Catherine) Curran, Joseph (June) Curran, Mary Folsom, and William (Linda) Curran. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Christopher, Jeff, David (Karen), Michael, and Daniel (Lisa) Fumarola, Susan (Charles) Denue, and Erin (Eric) Adams. Dombrowski, Anna GRANVILLE -- Anna Dombrowski, 89, a resident of the Orchard Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for several years in Granville, died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at the facility. Born in Granville on Jan. 21, 1916, she was the daughter of Michael and Katherine (Biros) Lobo. Mrs. Dombrowski had been a resident of the Bridgeport, Conn., area for many years. Her husband, John Dombrowski, died in 1989. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers: Stephen Lobo, Andrew Lobo and John Lobo. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Veronica Lobo of Granville; seven nieces, Debra Lobo of Comstock, Cathy Pekar of Granville, Linda Cooper of Rutland, Vt., Sandra Redmond of Whitehall, Patricia Mack of Gafton, Vt., Carolyn Lobo of Newtown, Conn., and Lorraine Curley of Columbus, Ohio; two nephews, Michael Lobo of Hudson Falls and Edward Lobo of Granville; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, at St. Mary's Church, Granville, with the Rev. Thomas Zelker, pastor, officiating. Gardephe Sr., 75, of Albany, formerly of Schuylerville and Greenwich, passed away on Wednesday May 4, 2005. Larry was predeceased by his wife, Joan; his mother, Ione Porter; and his brother, Howard Gardephe. Survivors include his sisters, Joyce Palmer and Jackie Haner of Greenwich; his children: Nancy Munger and her husband, Frank, of Gansevoort, Larry Gardephe Jr. of Victory Mills, Brenda Peets of Greenwich, Carolee Brockway and her husband, Kevin, of Greenwich, Donna Barrows of Greenwich, and John Gardephe; stepchildren, Diane Burns and Carroll Bates; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Griffing, Maryon Frances HARTFORD -- Maryon Frances Griffing, 93, of Rowe Hill Road, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 6, 2005, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home. Born in Rutland, Vt., on March 20, 1912, she was the daughter of George H. and Ida M. (Smith) Doubleday. Maryon grew up in Hebron and graduated from Granville High School. She worked in Syracuse from 1931 to 1935 for a firm of engineers, surveying and updating the city map of Syracuse. In 1934, she was made a firm director. On Oct. 26, 1935, she married Augustus H. Griffing. During World War II, she was a practical nurse at Emma Lang Stevens Hospital in Granville. Maryon and her husband moved to Hawaii in 1947, and lived there for 23 years. They returned to Hartford in 1970. Since returning to Hartford, she was the arts and crafts chairman of the Tri-County Branch of the Women's National Farm & Garden Association. She also served as president for two years and arts and crafts chairman for the local Home Bureau Group. For several years, she was the New York State Division Chairman and started the Crafters, a group drawn from craft people in the New York division of Women's National Farm & Garden Association. Her hobbies included sewing, painting, knitting and various arts and crafts. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Lynn A. Griffing (1940-42); her brother, Wallace Doubleday; her sister, Irene Lundy; a nephew, Malcolm Lundy; and nieces, Dorothy Stewart and Marion Sheldon. Survivors include her husband of more than 69 years, Augustus Griffing of Hartford; five nieces: Georgia Osborne and her husband, Franklin, Beverly Durkee and her husband, Willard, all of Hartford, Shirley Black, and Barbara McGeoch and her husband, Paul, all of Argyle, and Marion Lundy of Hebron; several grandnieces and nephews; great grandnieces and nephews and great-great-grandnieces and nephews. Little, 62, of Clayton, N.C., and formerly of Greenwich, passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004. Born on April 9, 1942, he was the son of the late James D. Little and Letha Cronin Little, both of Greenwich. He graduated from Greenwich Central School and received a B.S. in biology from Alliance College in 1964. Mr. Little spent his career working in the pharmaceutical industry, retiring from Glaxo Wellcome in 1995. He is survived by his son, Christopher Little of Cary, N.C.; his daughter, Sarah Little of Raleigh, N.C.; his brother, J. David Little of Glens Falls; two sisters, Ellen Pultorak of Buskirk, and Margaret Seymour of Queensbury. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, and by his beloved dog, Quado. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Greenwich. Published in the Post-Star on 5/8/2005. Slade, Mary E. FORT EDWARD -- Mary E. Slade, 90, died Friday, May 6, 2005, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home. Mrs. Slade was born in the town of Beekmantown on Aug. 17, 1914, the daughter of Henry and Caroline (Mousseau) Holland. She married Joseph W. "Bill" Slade on Aug. 17, 1937, at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Mr. Slade predeceased her in 1965. During her husband's 35-year career with AT&T, they lived in West Chazy, Plattsburgh, West Plattsburgh and Elizabethtown. After his death, she returned to West Plattsburgh, residing there until 2000, when she moved to Adirondack Manor Adult Home in Queensbury, due to declining health. She became a resident of Fort Hudson Nursing Home in December 2004. Mrs. Slade was a homemaker when her children were young, volunteering for several organizations including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, advisor for Catholic Youth Council (CYC) of St. Elizabeth's Church in Elizabethtown, and serving as treasurer of Cobble Hill Golf Association in Elizabethtown for eight years. Her employment included Joint Council for Economic Opportunity for the town of Plattsburgh, manager of Clinton dining hall at Plattsburgh State and Clinton County Head Start, retiring in 1990. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Slade was predeceased by her brothers: Jack, William, Raymond, Merritt, Robert and Harold; her granddaughter, Katie Slade; and her companion of several years, William Vanderover. Survivors include her son, John, and his wife, Susan, of Albany; her daughter, Ann of Queensbury; grandchildren: Christopher, Bethany, Zachary and Caroline of Albany; and her sister-in-law, Elsie Holland of Middletown. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to thank Beth Bruno, Ann Marie Donahue, Mark Holmes and the entire staff of G wing at Fort Hudson Nursing Home for the excellent care Mary received during her residency. "Aud" (Harpp) HADLEY -- Audrey G. "Aud" (Harpp) White, age 88, passed away peacefully at home Saturday morning, May 7, 2005, surrounded by her family. Born on March 21, 1917, in Hadley, she was the daughter of J. Smith and Ethel M. (Shippee) Harpp. Audrey graduated from Hadley Luzerne School in 1935. Thereafter, she worked as an accounts payable assistant and librarian for the town of Hadley. On April 23, 1938, she married Joseph W. White of Hadley. After a military assignment that took them as far as California, they returned to Hadley, and in 1946, she and her husband opened Joseph W. White Trucking, Inc. During the company's 50-year operation, it evolved into the largest forest products trucking fleet in the Adirondack region. Aud will be remembered for her selfless devotion to her husband, her acts of kindness to family, acquaintances, former employees and her devotion and love for her great-grandnephew, Adam. She loved spending time with her family and friends. During the last two years of Aud's life she enjoyed living with her special great-grandnephew, Adam Bourdeau, his wife, Michelle, and family. She really enjoyed the company of the children. She enjoyed watching Adam's daughter, Alexis, dance and watching cartoons with her every morning. Aud and Alexis spent a lot of time playing Barbie's and eating cookies. She enjoyed listening to Joseph and Cody tell her about their Little League games and video games. She also enjoyed playing instant lottery games. Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Joseph W. White, one sister, Mildred Baurman, and one brother, Hubert W. Harpp. She is survived by one cousin, Bea Harpp of Chestertown, as well as several nieces and nephews. Aud's family would like to thank Dr. Pitkin, JoAnn Zornes, Sherry Bourdeau and Sharon Brooks for the wonderful care, support and friendship they gave Aud at home. Funeral services will be conducted today at noon at Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne, with the Rev. Dick Osborne, pastor of the Hadley Luzerne Wesleyan Church, officiating.
