"Lou" York Beach, Maine -- Lucy H. "Lou" Ackerman, 78, of Talpey Avenue, died Monday, May 9, 2005, at York Hospital. Born on Oct. 19, 1926, in Fitchburg, Mass., she was the daughter of Frank W. and Lesta (Brewer) Davis. She was a graduate of Leominster High School, Class of 1944. Lou was a member of the Congregational Church of Christ in Leominster, Mass. and of the Union Congregational Church of York Beach, Maine. She was also a past member of the VFW Auxillary, Eastern Star-Temple Chapter No. 45, and the York Elks Post No. 2788. Lou's three favorite pastimes were crossword puzzles, bowling and reading books. She was the widow of Robert E. Ackerman who died Feb. 1, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Kay Vautour and her husband, Gary, of Leominster, Mass.; two sons, Edward George Wilkinson and his wife, Patricia, of Leominster, Mass., and Randy Jay Wilkinson and his wife, Lisa, of Ballston Lake, N.Y.; a stepson, Timothy A. Ackerman and his wife, Edith, of Melrose, Mass., a stepdaughter, Melissa Ackerman of Amherst, Va.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m, on Thursday, May 12, at Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York, Maine. Amatulli, Angie HUDSON FALLS and HULETTS LANDING -- Angie Amatulli, 72, of Martindale Avenue in Hudson Falls and Huletts Landing, went into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, May 7, 2005, at her home. Born on Nov. 10, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Maggio. Angie attended Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, N.Y., on Long Island. For a number of years, she was employed at New York Telephone on Long Island. Then Angie worked for her family company, Tru-Art Sign Co. Inc., in Nassau County. Later, she worked at Washington County Employment and Training and part time at the pro shop at T-Bird Country Club. Angie loved to bowl with her friends in two bowling leagues, read and watch movies. She was a very giving person, who loved her grandchildren. Angie's favorite times were taking long walks and playing cards with her two grandchildren, Lauren and Joseph. Survivors include her two sons, Anthony F. Amatulli of Freeport, and Lawrence M. Amatulli and his wife, Jane, of North Merrick; two grandchildren, Lauren Angela Amatulli and Joseph L. Amatulli of North Merrick; two sisters, Josephine Burnett of Georgia and Rose Deckelmann of Waldorf, Md.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank Elaine Pagano of Fort Edward and her daughter, Diane Barrett, for their kindness and support to Angie. Casey, John Earl COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. -- John Earl Casey, 78, a resident of Cooperstown, passed away after a long illness on Saturday evening, May 7, 2005, at Otsego Manor. Born July 19, 1926, in Albany, John was the son of the late Dr. George Morris Casey and Emily (Merwin) Casey, formerly of Hudson Falls. A graduate of Hudson Falls High School, Class of 1944, John enrolled at Yale University but then enlisted in the United States Army. During World War II, he proudly served his country in the 10th Mountain Division in Italy. Upon his honorable discharge in July of 1946 from the United States Army, he returned to Yale University and graduated with the class of 1950. He then attended Cornell University Law School and graduated with the Class of 1953. John first practiced law in Binghamton, which is where he met and married his wife, Jane Ann Feeck, on April 26, 1958. That same year, John and Jane Ann moved to Cooperstown where he practiced law for many years. He was a past member of the Broome County Bar Association, the Otsego County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and was admitted to the United States Supreme Court Bar. John also had served as a president of the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce, a Village of Cooperstown Justice, and was a past member of the Otsego County Republican Committee. For 48 years, he served as a member of the Cooperstown Fire Department Engine Co. No. 1, and was also a Third Degree Knight in the former Leatherstocking Council No. 1879, Knights of Columbus in Cooperstown, and a life member of the Sergeant Walter P. Eggleston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7128 in Cooperstown. John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jane Ann Casey of Cooperstown; a son, George, daughter-in-law, Dorothea, and a grandson, Michael, of Greenwich; a daughter, Ann, partner, Dana Wagemaker; and grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, Andrew and Catharine, of Niskayuna; and several cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2005, at St. Mary's "Our Lady of the Lake" Roman Catholic Church, Elm Street, Cooperstown, with Father John P. Rosson, pastor, presiding. A firefighter memorial service will be conducted by members of the Cooperstown Fire Department as part of the service at the church. Immediately following the services at church, all attending are invited to join with John's family for a time of refreshment and fellowship at Templetown Hall, located at the corner of Church and Pioneer streets in Cooperstown. John will eventually be laid to rest in the Columbarium Wall in the churchyard at Christ Church, Cooperstown. The family will receive friends in their home at 3 Elm St., Cooperstown, from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on both Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14. Dombrowski, Anna GRANVILLE -- Anna Dombrowski, 89, a resident of the Orchard Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for several years in Granville, died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at the facility. Born in Granville on Jan. 21, 1916, she was the daughter of Michael and Katherine (Biros) Lobo. Mrs. Dombrowski had been a resident of the Bridgeport, Conn., area for many years. Her husband, John Dombrowski, died in 1989. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by four brothers: Stephen Lobo, Andrew Lobo, John Lobo, and Michael Lobo. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Veronica Lobo of Granville; seven nieces, Debra Lobo of Comstock, Cathy Pekar of Granville, Linda Cooper of Rutland, Vt., Sandra Redmond of Whitehall, Patricia Mack of Gafton, Vt., Carolyn Lobo of Newtown, Conn., and Lorraine Curley of Columbus, Ohio; two nephews, Michael Lobo of Hudson Falls and Edward Lobo of Granville; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, at St. Mary's Church, Granville, with the Rev. Thomas Zelker, pastor, officiating. The Rite of Committal will follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Middle Granville. There will be no calling hours. Donise, John Saratoga Springs -- John Donise, formerly of Embury Apartments, died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Wesley Health Care Center. He was 90. Born on June 16, 1914, in Canicatta in Sicily, Italy, he was the son of the late Aurelio and Rosaria (Giarratano) Donise. Prior to living in Saratoga Springs, Mr. Donise resided in Danbury, Conn., and worked as a hatter in a hat factory there. He then worked at ESPEY Manufacturing Company in Saratoga Springs as a supervisor from 1952 until his retirement in 1979. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Donise first served his country from 1937 to 1940 where he served in Company A, 12th Infantry. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he re-enlisted and served in the 8th Infantry at Normandy during World War II and marched with General Patten's 4th infantry. On VE day, he was in Paris, France, and received the European Asian Middle Eastern Ribbon with four Bronze Service Stars as well as a Good Conduct Ribbon. He was a member of St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jennie C. Donise, who died on June 27, 2002; and a sister, Carmella Alibro. He is survived by his daughter, Joanne D. Beck and her husband, Bruce, of Kattskill Bay; two grandsons, B. Douglas Beck, and Brian D. Beck, both of Glens Falls; and a sister, Frances Ramey of Danbury, Conn. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at William J. Gonyea, 67, of Riverview Street, into her peaceful arms, from the care of the Stanton Nursing Center, Queensbury. Born Oct. 11, 1937, at her home in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Frances Ruth (Plude) Wilkins. Lupe enjoyed spending time and playing games with her grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Tanis Carpentier and Adair Moss. Survivors include her daughters, Susen Gonyea of South Glens Falls, and Debi Gonyea of Utica; her sons, Rick and Kelly Gonyea of South Glens Falls, and Jay Gonyea of Sierra, Calif.; her grandchildren, Amysue Ladlee and Armand McDuff; her sister, Kathleen Seeley and her husband, Terry, of Fort Edward; and her brother, Bill Wilkins and his wife, Sandy, of South Glens Falls. There will be no calling hours at the request of the family. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2005, at St. Paul's Cemetery, Hudson Falls, with the Rev. Jones, 87, of Granville, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, May 8, 2005, at the home of her niece in Queensbury following a long illness. Born April 20, 1918, in Granville, she was the daughter of John S. and Marilla (Getty) Jones. Elda was a lifelong resident of Granville, graduating from Granville High School in 1936. She was a volunteer at Emma Laing Stevens Hospital for many years and an active member of the Granville Baptist church. She worked many years as an Avon representative. She is survived by two sisters, Barbara VanDerwarker of Queensbury and Helen Warner of Delray Beach, Fla.; her niece, Linda Mason of Queensbury; her nephew, Bruce VanDerwarker and his wife, Helen, of Penfield, N.Y., her nephew, John VanDerwarker and his wife, Donna, of Pottersville; six great-nieces; a great-nephew; a great-great-niece and two great-great-nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, with the Rev. James Peterson, pastor of the Granville Baptist Church, officiating. It was Elda's request that there be no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date. Oldenbuttel, 70, formerly of Patchogue, N.Y., died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness. Born in Queens, on Jan. 23, 1935, he was the son of the late George and Bertha (Bennett) Oldenbuttel. John retired as a maintenance worker for the Patchogue-Medford School District after 20 years of service. He was a Boy Scout leader when his sons were younger. His hobbies included gardening, fishing and boating. John also had a woodworking shop where he spent hours building things for his family. He loved talking to people but most of all he loved his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Barbara Acton Oldenbuttel of Warrensburg, whom he married Jan. 23, 1989; four sons, John Oldenbuttle and his wife, Elline, of Pennsylvania, Peter Oldenbuttel and his wife, Emily, of Patchogue, Mark Oldenbuttel of Long Island, Andy Oldenbuttel of Patchogue; four stepdaughters, Barbara Parato and her husband, Anthony, of Gansevoort, Kathy Connors and her companion, Martin McDonough, of Patchogue, Doreen Linze and her husband, David, of Union, Mo., Christine Caunter and her husband, Stephen, of Chestertown; two brothers, George Oldenbuttel and his wife, Dorothy, of Florida., and Louis Oldenbuttel of Queens; three sisters, June Barker of Titusville, Fla., Elaine Ginex and her husband, John, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Carol Kowalski and her husband, Jay, of Titusville, Fla.; also nine grandsons and five granddaughters. Stickney, Barbara Ann (Ryan) EDGEWATER, Fla., and HADLEY -- Barbara Ann (Ryan) Stickney, 47, of Edgewater, Fla., and formerly of Hadley, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2005, after a long illness. Born on Sept. 17, 1957, in Corinth, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Beverly (Brown) Ryan. Barbara married Kenneth Stickney on June 10, 1989, in Edgewater, Fla. She attended Hadley-Luzerne Central School until her freshman year when she and her parents moved to Florida. She then graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in 1975. Barbara had a career in the restaurant business in Edgewater, working most of her life at The Nice Place Restaurant, holding many positions and managing it under the guidance of her mentor and dear friend, Marilyn Rethemeyer, owner of the establishment. Barbara was well-known and liked by her customers and other entrepreneurs of the service industry in the area. She was a member of the auxiliary of the Bert Fish Memorial Hospital in Edgewater and was an avid fan of NASCAR racing. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Thomas Ryan of Hadley. Survivors include her husband of 16 years, Kenneth Stickney of Edgewater, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Melissa and Heather Stickney of New Jersey; one sister, Judy Hayes and her husband, Eric, of Hadley; one brother, Robert Ryan and his wife, Emma, of Hadley; a sister-in-law, Brenda Ryan of Hadley; two nieces, Vickie Shattuck of Queensbury and Lisa Wright of Fort Ann; three nephews, Joseph Hayes of Corinth, Ray Ryan of Hadley and Timothy Ryan of Hilton Head, S.C.; three great-nephews, Dale Hayes, Brayden Shattuck and Bradely Wright; two aunts, Kay Smith and her husband, John, of Northville and Arlene Latva and her husband, William, of Guild, N.H.; two uncles, Ronald Ryan and his wife, Donna, of The Villages, Fla., and Roger Ryan and his wife, Janet, of Shushan; and she is also survived by several close cousins.
