HENRYETTA, Okla. -- Marie E. Allen, 59, of Henryetta, Okla, passed away Friday, May 13, 2005, following a long illness. She was born Dec. 1, 1945, the daughter of the late Harold and Edna (Heath) McComsey. Marie had many hobbies she enjoyed doing, but nothing gave her greater pleasure than spending time with her family and her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Heidi Swearenger and her husband, Bill, of Henryetta, Okla.; three wonderful grandchildren: Sierra, Ronald, and Mary Jane; two brothers, Harold McComsey and his wife, Cecile, of Queensbury, and Steven McComsey of Amsterdam; and three sisters: Lilly Decker and her husband, Walt, of Ballston Spa, DeeDee Moffitt and her husband, George, of Wevertown, and Annie Cleveland and her husband, Joe, of Johnsburg. Bruce, Julia M. WHITEHALL -- Julia M. Bruce, 81, of Skene Street, passed away Monday, May 16, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on Aug. 6, 1923, in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Morani) Epifanio. Julia enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an avid bingo player. She was a former seamstress, employed by Troy Shirt Guild in Whitehall. She was predeceased by two brothers, Vincent "Pat" Epifanio and Louie Epifanio. Julia is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald C. Bruce; one son, Richard H. Bruce and his wife, Kandy, of Whitehall; two grandchildren, Kerri Gordon and her husband, Gary, of South Glens Falls, and Richard D. Bruce and his wife, Janice, of Whitehall; four grandchildren: Zachary Gordon, Kassidy Gordon, Jessica Bruce and Ricky Bruce; two brothers, Andrew Epifanio of South Glens Falls and Joseph Epifanio of Whitehall; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 19, at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall, with the Rev. Francis Dunbar officiating. UNIONVILLE -- Kathleen A. Jackson, a longtime Unionville resident, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 15, 2005, at Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 74 years old. Born Oct. 30, 1930, in Queens Village, Queens, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Kathryn Fields Flaherty. Kathleen, along with her husband, Robert, owned and operated the Highlander Bar and Grill in Lake Luzerne. An avid bingo player, she enjoyed waiting for the last number to be called. A family statement reads: "We will always remember our mother as kind hearted and generous, who above all else loved her family. She was open and friendly to everyone. A survivor of many losses, she greatly missed her loved ones who have passed before her." She is survived by three sons: Brian T. Jackson and his wife, Rose, of Miller Place, Robert N. Jackson and his girlfriend, Alison Wells, of Port Jefferson Station, and Bruce R. Jackson of Westtown; her three daughters: Bonnie J. Brennan and her husband, James, of Unionville, Barbara J. Gardner and her husband, Tim, of Marietta, Ga., and Beth E. Jackson and her fiance, Kevin Diaz, of Woodside; one brother Thomas Flaherty of New York; one sister, Maureen Ryan of Massachusetts; nine grandchildren: Katie Arthur and her husband, Jonathan, Gina Henderson, Matthew Sanna, Bobby Jackson, Jennie Brennan, Kyle Gardner, Sara, Heather and Kara Jackson; as well as two great-grandchildren, Mia and Elijah Henderson. Kathleen was predeceased by one son, Bradford Adam Jackson and her husband, Robert G. Jackson; three brothers; and one sister. Published in the Post-Star on 5/18/2005. Knoll, Anne Marie THURMAN -- Anne Marie Knoll, 83, of Bear Pond Road, passed away peacefully at her home, Monday, May 16, 2005. Born in Lehe, Germany on June 6, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Herman W. and Anna M. (Jungclaus) Kaehne. Anne immigrated to the U.S. as a baby where her family settled in Islip, N.Y. She received her primary and secondary education at Islip High School from where she graduated, and then furthered her education at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, receiving her master's degree in elementary education, graduating in 1974. She started teaching at Bob Sikes Elementary School in Crestview, Fla. Anne said she loved each of her students that she was involved with over the years, and treated each as though they were her own. She married Francis Otto "Red" Knoll on Oct. 2, 1943, in Islip, N.Y. Anne and her husband moved to Thurman in the late 1970s, making their home at Bear Pond Road. Her husband passed away Dec. 7, 1998. Survivors include her two sons, Francis "Butch" Knoll, of Virginia Beach, Va. and Timothy A. Knoll of Athol; one daughter, Kathi A. Ridge and her husband, Larry, of Crestview, Fla.; and one granddaughter, Kristin A. Rodgers of Crestview, Fla. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Martin, Peggy-Sue ARGYLE -- Peggy-Sue Martin, 47, of Mahaffy Road, passed away at her home on Monday, May 16, 2005 . Born in Bridgeton, N.J. on Feb. 27, 1958, she was the daughter of Dolores (Clark) Smith of Elmer, N.J. and the late Burnett "Mack" Smith. Peggy graduated from high school in New Jersey and later received her degree from BOCES in Early Childhood Development. For many years she worked at Mallinkrodt in Argyle as a machine tender. She loved gardening and crafts; and was especially fond of her pot belly pigs, Susie, Patchy and of Tess, a full size pig. Besides her father, Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Dwight Martin, who died Jan. 31, 2005, and a brother, William Smith. Survivors besides her mother, Dolores, include her stepson, Douglas Martin of Orlando, Fla.; her sisters: Nancy Young of Pittsgrove, N.J., Juanita Palmer of Fort Edward, Jo Ann Bartley of Vineland, N.J., Linda Wendling of Elmer, N.J. and Tammy Hammer of Elmer, N.J.; her brother, Lee Smith of Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. At Peggy's request there will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be at the convenience of the family at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Elmer, N.J. Reed, 74, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at her residence on Jermayn Hill Lane in White Creek. She was the wife of the late Floyd F. Reed, who died on Aug. 2, 2001. Mary was born on Feb. 28, 1931, in Saratoga Springs, the daughter of the late Enos and Edna (Gamache) Woodard. She was educated at schools in Salem. Mary worked at the Eveready Co. in Bennington, Vt. at various positions in production. She enjoyed gardening, Blue Grass music, the fiddle, crocheting, and baking apple pies. Mary loved spending time with her family and taking care of them. Survivors include her children: Brenda Rowland of Bennington, Vt., Laurie Weaver and her husband, Bruce, of Bennington, Vt, and David Smith of Cohoes; her grandchildren: Michael Weaver of Manchester, N.H., Willie Dolle, Zachary Rowland and Ryan Weaver, all of Bennington, Vt., Joshua Rowland of White Creek and Daniel Smith of Albany; her sisters, Mary Fuller and her husband, Chuck, of Fort Ann, and Sheila Brownell and her husband, Albert, of Hudson Falls; and her brother, George Barot and his wife, Jan, of Hudson Falls. Rohrwasser, Steven EAST GREENBUSH -- Steven C. Rohrwasser, age 61, of Oakwood Street, passed away Monday, May 16, 2005, at his residence. He was born in Troy and had been a resident of East Greenbush for 20 years. Mr. Rohrwasser was a car sales representative for various car dealerships in the area, retiring from Keeler Mercedes, in Latham. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division, stationed in the Dominican Republic. Mr. Rohrwasser was a member of the Mercedes Benz Club and a member of the Christ Church United Methodist in Glens Falls. He enjoyed golfing, reading, the love of his family and spending time at Friends Lake. Mr. Rohrwasser was the husband of Linda Ketchum Rohrwasser of East Greenbush; father of Megan Rohrwasser of Boston, Mass., and Sara (Chris) Colello of Pittsfield, Mass.; son of George and Ruth Brown Rohrwasser of Queensbury; and brother of the late Barbara Rohrwasser. Funeral services will be conducted at Christ Church United Methodist, Bay Street, Glens Falls on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. All are invited to attend.
