Born on July 4, 1912, in North Creek, she was the daughter of the late William and Emma V. (Mitchell) Lavery. She is survived by a son, Kenneth of Queensbury; two daughters, Leda Staats of Saratoga Springs, and Katharine MacRae of Delray Beach, Fla.; and eight grandchildren. Honoring the wishes of Helen there will be no calling hours, funeral service, flowers, gifts, or contributions. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at Pine View Cemetery. At that time her children will say a few words and all are invited to join in "The Lord's Prayer." QUEENSBURY -- Margaret L. DiGirolamo, 95, a resident of Queensbury, passed away Friday, May 27, 2005, at her home. She was born Feb. 25, 1910, in Catskill, and was the daughter of the late Angelo and Rose (Battaglino) Compositor. Margaret retired from Gloversville Knitting in Schenectady, and at one time worked at General Electric Co., Building 2. She enjoyed crocheting, doing jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Albert DiGirolamo, who passed away on July 3, 1995; her son, Ronald DiGirolamo; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Cooper, and her husband, Milton, of Queensbury; her five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 2, at Singleton-Healy Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury. Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. Fort Edward -- Alan H. Erdman, 75, of East St. died Thursday, May 26, 2005 at the Glens Falls Hospital. Born in Weatherly, Pa., on Nov. 1, 1929, he was the son of the late Herbert and Ann (Sries) Erdman. Al was one of the founders and a charter member of the Jay-Cees in Fort Edward, a former member of the Hudson Falls American Legion, and Boy Scout leader, in Hudson Falls, for many years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Fort Edward. Al enjoyed making ceramics. His special joy was spending time with Mary's grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Dowling and her husband, Robert, of California, and Darcie Brancati and her husband, Dominick, of Queensbury; a son, Thomas Erdman of Glens Falls; two grandchildren, Jared and Emily Erdman of Glens Falls; three sisters, Doris Hagenback of Florida, Carol Heater and her husband, Maurice, of Pennsylvania, and Joyce Saeger and her husband, John, of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Lawrence Erdman of Pennsylvania, and Robert Erdman and his wife, Fern, of Pennsylvania; his long time companion, Mary Burch of Fort Edward; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 30, at M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, at St. Joseph's Church, Fort Edward, with the Rev. Joseph Xavier Arockiasamy, pastor, officiating. ALTAMONT -- Virginia C. Heber died peacefully at her daughter's home on Thursday, May 26, 2005, following a brief illness. Virginia was a lifelong Glens Falls area resident. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Cinnia A. Edwards and her husband, Dr. Joel Edwards, of Altamont; three grandchildren, David Edwards of Saugerties, Amy Rothe and her husband, Rob, of Islip, N.Y., and Carol Edwards of Manhattan, N.Y.; five great-grandchildren, Bowy, Kim and Kristy Edwards, and Emma and Ava Rothe; three nieces, Nancy (George) Thurston of Queensbury, Nancy (Earl) Ruff of Fort Edward, and Arlene (Marvin) Millington of Fort Ann; three nephews, Walter (Maryanne) LeClair of Vero Beach, Fla., Dick (Peggy) Shands of Ballston Lake, and Jack (Ellen) Shands of Piedmont, S.C. She is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, at the Altamont Reformed Church, 129 Lincoln Ave., Altamont. Ormsby, Elizabeth "Betty" (Regan) Glen Lake -- Elizabeth "Betty" (Regan) Ormsby, 88 of Glen Lake, passed away Friday May 27, 2005, at Stanton Nursing & Rehab Centre in Queensbury. Born May 11, 1917, in Hague, she was the daughter of the late Elwin and Cecil (Duell) Elethorpe. Betty was a graduate of Hague High School, where she played for the Championship Basketball Team in 1936. After graduation she moved to Glens Falls where she was employed for over 50 years at the Troy Shirt Guild. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Annunciation Church in Queensbury. Along with her late husband, John, she was active with the Nelson Street Grange, she also was a member of the Bay Ridge Ladies Auxiliary and the Aries Eagle Club 2486. She was active with the Lake George PTA, and an avid bowler, who bowled three times a week until her health prohibited her from doing it, but her greatest joy was the time spent at her home on Glen Lake for over 60 years with her family and many friends. Besides her parents, her first husband, John G. Regan who died Feb. 20, 1961, and a stepdaughter, Cynthia Hamblin, who died Feb. 2, 2005, predeceased her. Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Howard F. Ormsby of Glen Lake, whom she married Sept. 19, 1969; her daughter, Gertrude (Trudie) Sperry and her husband, David, of Glen Lake; her sons, Joseph G. Regan and his wife, Donna, of Sarasota, Fla. and Kevin L. Regan of Lakeland, Fla.; a sister, Mary Tucker of South Glens Falls; her special cousin, Edna Butler of Queensbury; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at the Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, Aviation Road, Queensbury. Reed, Anna Rachel (Juckett) HAMPTON -- Anna Rachel (Juckett) Reed, 94, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2005, in the Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. Born on Feb. 20, 1911, in Whitehall, she was the daughter of Charles and Anna (Tyler) Juckett. She graduated from Whitehall High School in 1929, and later attended Plattsburgh Normal School in Plattsburgh, N.Y., where she received a teacher's degree. She received her masters degree from Castleton State College in the 1950s. She taught at many rural schools throughout the area and retired from Fort Ann Central School in the early 1960s. For the past thirty years, she enjoyed spending the winter's in Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, George Reed who died in 1985; three brothers, Clayton Juckett, Howard Juckett, and Marselous Juckett. She is survived by two sons, George Reed of Poultney, Vt., and Leonard C. Reed Sr., and his wife, Linda of Hampton; five grandchildren, George Reed Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Rutland, Vt., Debra Smith and her husband, Clifford, of Bomoseen, Vt., Leonard Reed Jr. and his wife, Carrie Reed of Fort Ann, Elaine Leddick and her husband, Carl, of Hampton, and Thomas Reed and his wife, Debra,of Hampton; thirteen great-grandchildren; five nieces, and a nephew. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2005, at Jillson Funeral Home, 46 Williams St., Whitehall, by the Rev. Lawrence Switzer, pastor of the Congregational Church in Danby, Vt., officiating. Interment will follow in North Granville Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
