QUEENSBURY -- John B. Donega, 84, of Whispering Pines, Weeks Road, Queensbury, died Thursday afternoon, Sept. 29, 2005, at Orchards Long Term Care Center in Granville. He was born in North Adams, Mass. on July 3, 1921, a son of the late Victor Donega and Dora (Ghidotti) Donega. He attended Drury High School. Mr. Donega was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army from December 1942 until October 1945. He served with the 5th Army 534th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion and participated in the campaigns of North Africa, Naples Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Following the war, he returned to North Adams and completed a course at the former Bliss Business College in 1947. He began his career with the General Electric Co. in Pittsfield. He later worked in the accounting program at GE in Schenectady. He was last employed as an auditor in the General Electric Capacitor Division in Hudson Falls and Fort Edward plants until his retirement in 1985 with 38 years of service to the company. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Annunciation Church in Queensbury, where he was a longtime usher. He enjoyed bowling and golf and was a member of the Glens Falls Country Club. Survivors include one sister, Catherine Donega, with whom he made his home; and several first cousins. He was predeceased by one sister and one brother, Matilda Donega, who died Feb. 9, 1997, and the Rev. Carl Donega, who died Dec. 31, 1995. Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony of Padua Church, with the Rev. Joseph Anselment, former pastor of Our Lady of the Annunciation Church in Queensbury, officiating. Burial will be at Southview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Published in the Post-Star on 10/1/2005. Jennings, Vaughn M. "Red" SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Vaughn M. "Red" Jennings, 79, of South Glens Falls, was received into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday morning, Sept. 28, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Aug. 15, 1926, in Linton, Ind., he was the son of Vaughn Jennings Sr. and Mamie (Earle) Jennings. Vaughn was a U.S. Navy veteran and in 1945 was stationed in Sampson, N.Y. As a member of Pine Knolls Alliance Church for many years, he enjoyed being an usher and visiting with his many friends. His favorite hobbies included camping, fishing, cooking and woodworking. Vaughn was a service manager for many area automobile dealerships, the latest being Pride Motors Inc. in Glens Falls. Earlier, he had worked for Air-Land Motor Parts in Glens Falls and Warren Auto Parts in Warrensburg. He was a dedicated husband, a wonderful father and grandfather figure to many children, including his own grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, David, of Texas, a sister, Margaret, and two brothers, Alfred and Lewis, all of Indiana. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor, of South Glens Falls; two sisters, Alcona Groves and her husband, Ken, of Griffith, Ind., and Jane Hubbs of Sullivan, Ind.; a brother, Richard Jennings and his wife, Virginia, of Spencer, Ind.; a daughter, Verna Berry and her husband, Stephen, of New Hampshire; three sons, Vaughn Jennings III and his wife, Marlene, of Wernersville, Pa., Thomas Jennings and his wife, Connie, of Fort Ann, and William D. Jennings and his wife, Carole, of Massachusetts. His grandchildren include: Dean Jennings, Kathy Merkt, Jennifer Milton, Steve Jennings, Amanda Jennings, Carol Duncan, Lisa Stewart, Tanya Greene, Saunia Ianniccheri, William B. Jennings, Melinda Jennings, Karen Jones, Mark Orsi and Jill Berry. He also leaves 21 great-grandchildren; a previous wife, Pearl Sowers, of Fort Ann, and a previous daughter-in-law, Susan Gregoire of Massachusetts; and a special friend, Barry Forget of Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, at the children's request, on behalf of their father, expressions of sympathy and kindness may take the form of donations to the Eleanor Jennings Benefit, c/o Glens Falls National Bank, Route 9, South Glens Falls, NY 12803. There will be a memorial service held for family and friends at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Pine Knolls Alliance Church, Gansevoort Road, South Glens Falls. Logo Published in the Post-Star from 10/1/2005 - 10/2/2005. Monahan, Florence H. "Fuzzy" FORT ANN -- Florence "Fuzzy" H. Monahan, 79, of State Route 149, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at her home. Born on June 15, 1926, in Fort Ann, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Helena (Beecher) Monahan. Florence was a retired bench worker from C.R. Bard, and she was an elderly sitter for many different people for the last 14 years. Fuzzy had great interest for giving and caring. She also loved her home, and enjoyed cooking. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers: Clarence, John, Edward, Leo, William, Gerald, Robert, James, and Bernard 'Clark' Monahan; and her sisters, Elizabeth Keech, Katherine Monahan, Mary Finger, and Helena Ryder. Survivors include her sons, James Stark and his wife, Janet, of Gansevoort, John 'Jack' Stark and his wife, Elaine, of Lake George, and Joseph Stark and his wife, Kathy, of Fort Ann; her brothers, Carlton Monahan, of Fort Ann, and Richard Monahan and his wife, Marie, of Hudson Falls; her sister, Teresa Marcantonio and her husband, Salvatore, of Hudson Falls; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Florence's request there will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Fort Ann, with the Rev. David Le Fort, pastor, officiating. Smith, 45, a resident of Greenwich, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, following a long battle with leukemia. Born in Cambridge on March 29, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Grace Sullivan. She lived her early years in North Hoosick and graduated from Hoosick Falls Central School, where she was a member of the high school band and enjoyed music. Theresa married Randy R. Smith on March 18, 1978, and they lived in the Greenwich area thereafter. She enjoyed raising her two children, and participated in scouting along with them. She worked for Norplex Oak-Isola in Hoosick Falls for many years and had many close friends there. Theresa also enjoyed bowling, boating, camping, sewing, crafts, needlepoint and her grandchildren. She had many close friends since her diagnosis that were very supportive through her battle. She was full of life for her friends and family and was an active member of the Greenwich Red Hat Society. Surviving in addition to her husband is a son, Joshua Michael Smith; a daughter, Heather Ann Smith and her fianc‚, Scott Sherwood, and their children, Lita Mai and Raymond Scott. Also surviving is a brother, Thomas E. Sullivan Sr.; a sister, Helen May Cipperly; a stepbrother, Robert Knowlton; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at Flynn Bros. Inc., 80 Main St., Greenwich, with the Rev. Richard Gratz officiating. Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Argyle. Family and friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made in her name to Easton Greenwich Rescue Squad, Box 84, Greenwich, NY 12834.
