MINERVA -Ronald J. Benoit, 69, of Owens Road, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, after being stricken at his home. Cavanaugh, Rose LaMarr WEST PAWLET, Vt. - Rose LaMarr Cavanaugh died from heart failure on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, with family members present at the Rutland Regional Medical Center. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Dan, a brother and sister. She is survived by a loving family, two daughters, Claire Stienss of Dorset, Vt. and Rosemary Rehus of Glen Ridge, N.J. and their respective husbands, Roman and Albert; two sons, Daniel of Jersey City, N.J. and William of West Pawlet, Vt.; one granddaughter, Jaime Rehus of Glen Ridge, N.J.; one grandson, Michael Stienss of Burlington, Vt. and a great-grandson, Jeremy Hayes of Glen Ridge, N.J. There will be no visiting hours. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Frances Cabrini Church, West Pawlet, on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dorset Nursing Service and or St. Frances Cabrini Church in West Pawlet would be appreciated. Kelly Sr., Jeremiah Joseph Kingsbury - Jeremiah Joseph Kelly Sr., 77, of County Line Road, Kingsbury, died at home on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, after a five-month battle with cancer. He was born on Jan. 21, 1928, in Meelin, County Cork, Ireland, to the late John and Julia (Bradley) Kelly. Jerry was a communicant of St. Mary's/St. Paul's Church of Hudson Falls, where he was an usher for several years. He was among the founding members and former president of the renewed Charter of Ancient Order of Hibernians in Glens Falls. He was a member of the local Carpenters Union until his retirement. Jerry immigrated to the United States on May 2, 1948, through the Port of New York, where his name is etched on the Memorial Wall on Ellis Island. His Aunt Kitty Bradley Collins brought him to Glens Falls to begin his new life in the United States of America. He married Colleen Hogan in 1951, and shared 27 wonderful years, they had five children. Jerry served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army and became a U.S. citizen upon his discharge. He and his brother, Michael, owned Kelly Bros. Construction Co. for ten years building many homes in the Glens Falls area. He also worked for Duplex Construction, F.T. Collins Construction, and Adirondack Construction Co. until his retirement. Jerry was very proud of his farm in Kingsbury, where he created a little piece of Ireland for himself. He also enjoyed dancing, playing Irish music on his accordion, and visiting with friends. During his retirement, he was the proprietor of the Kelly's Hibernian Hall where he enjoyed hosting numerous functions with his companion, Deborah Young. Jerry was predeceased by his loving wife, Colleen Hogan Kelly, whom passed away in March of 1978. Brothers, Michael, Patrick, Peter, Sean, Daniel, and sister, Christina, also predeceased him. He is survived by his five children: Sheila Colomb and husband, Daniel, of Kingsbury, John Kelly and wife, Debra, of Lynn, Mass., Jeremiah Kelly Jr. and wife, Kimberly, of Fort Edward, Maureen Chauncey and husband, Douglas, of Bloomfield, N.J., and Dennis Kelly and wife, Donna, of Kingsbury. Jeremiah is also survived by his companion, Deborah Young of Kingsbury. He is also survived by his brothers, Cornelius Kelly and his wife, Kathleen, Paul Kelly and his wife, Julia; and his sister, Catherine Nolan all of County Cork, Ireland. He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Ita Kelly of Glens Falls, Dorothy Teeta Glowinski of Fair Haven, Vt., Nell Kelly and Catherine Kelly both of County Cork, Ireland. Jerry has eleven grandchildren, Meghan (Barkley) Usmani, Sean Barkley, Ryan Barkley, Jeremiah Kelly III, Jaclyn Kelly, Nadine Kelly, James Chauncey, Connor Chauncey, Ian Chauncey, Brian Kelly and Randall Kelly. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at St. Mary's/St. Paul's in Hudson Falls. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Main Street, South Glens Falls. Published in the Post-Star on 10/3/2005. Lamb, Barbara Downey BOLTON LANDING - Barbara Downey Lamb, 79, of Bolton Landing, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, surrounded by her family. Born on March 10, 1926, in Sherrill, N.Y., she was the daughter of James and Lillian (Smith) Downey. Barb graduated from Sherrill High School and attended business school in Syracuse. She worked as a secretary for the New York State Police in Oneida after graduation. She was married to Philip Lamb of Bolton Landing where they resided and raised their children together. They owned and operated Lamb's Lakeshore Cabins for many years. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was loved by all. Memories of her will be cherished by her family. She is survived by her husband Philip; three children, two daughters, Kathy Conover and her husband, Ron and their children, Andrea Conover Maranille and her husband, Owen, and Kevin Conover, all of Bolton Landing, Sandy DeSantis of Bolton Landing and her children, Jonathan DeSantis and his wife, Leah, of Manhatten, Adam DeSantis and Nick DeSantis, both of Bolton Landing, and one son, Jim Lamb and his wife, Mary, and their children, Corley and Kyle Lamb, all of Glenmont. She was blessed to have a great-granddaughter, Grace Maranville. Graveside services will be private at Bolton Rural Cemetery, with the Rev. Carol Knapp, pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Bolton Landing, officiating. The Lamb family wishes to thank hospice for their wonderful care and support. Published in the Post-Star on 10/3/2005. Swinton, Oscar Dallas LAKE GEORGE -Oscar Dallas Swinton, 82, passed away Friday evening, Sept. 30, 2005, at the Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center, after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ticonderoga, on April 16, 1923, he was the son of the late Ray and Elsie (McKinstry) Swinton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, being honorably discharged February of 1946. Oscar, along with his brother, Charles and his sister, Drue all left school the same day to join the armed forces. Years later on June 16, 2001, they were all awarded an honorary High School Diploma at a Veteran's Ceremony in Bolton Landing. He was a mechanic and retired from Swinton's Logging Equipment Repair in 1996. His hobbies were fishing, camping, NASCAR, and being with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Arlene in 1985, and a sister, Dorothy in 1971. Survivors include a son, David and his wife, Melanie Swinton, of Lake George; a daughter, Sandra and her husband, Thomas Hall III, of Queensbury; a daughter, Shelley and her husband, Wayne Pelkey, of Pittsford, Vt.; grandchildren include: Jennifer, Jamie, Andrew, and Christopher Swinton, Travis, Shane and Jenna Pelkey; and a stepgrandson, Wayne Pelkey II; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Survivors also include a sister, Drue Calhoun of Port Richey, Fla.; a sister, Theta and her husband, Tom Curri of Bolton Landing; and a brother, Charles and his wife, Doris Swinton, of Sparrowbush, N.Y. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury. Wangeman, Elizabeth Agnes "Betty" Salem - Elizabeth "Betty" Agnes Wangemann, 93, of Salem, died peacefully Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at the home of her son. Betty was born July 19, 1912, in Cappel, Germany, the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Bertha Richter Bruning. She was educated in Cappel, Germany, and emigrated to United States in 1930, settling in New York City, where she worked for the Sulka Shirt Co. in Manhattan as a seamstress for many years before retiring. Betty spent much of her life doing beautiful handwork. Her many needlepoint pictures will be enjoyed by her family in the years to come. Betty and her husband, Erich lived in Purling, N.Y. for many years before she moved to Salem. Mrs. Wangemann spent several of her later years knitting mittens for the holiday mitten tree in Salem. Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Barbara Gerber of Salem; a grandson, Robert Gerber Jr., and his fiance‚, Karin Lopez, of Saratoga Springs; and a granddaughter, Christine Elizabeth Gerber and her special friend, John Wynn, of Boston, Mass. She is also survived by her two great-granddaughters, Jessica and Melissa Gerber and two step great-granddaughters, Jessica and Jennifer Lopez. Betty is also survived by a niece, Emily Gallagher, and a nephew, Walter Otten. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Erich Wangemann; three sisters, Veronica, Emmy and Mathilda, and two brothers, Willy and Herman. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at McClellan Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
