Born April 6, 1934, in Hartford, she was the daughter of Paul and Jessie (Bounds) Whitney. Mrs. Burch had been employed at Sherwood Company in Argyle. Betty enjoyed her grandchildren, knitting, crocheting and "Munchie," her dog. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Paul Whitney. Survivors include her husband, Philip Burch; four sons: Jim Bradt and his wife, Susan, of Granville, Kevin Bradt and his wife, Agnes, of Texas, Garry P. Burch and his wife, Brenda, of Fort Edward, and Randy Burch and his girlfriend, Debbie Cramer, of Granville; two daughters, Susan Stein and her husband, Terry, of Schuyler Falls and Penny Burch of Rutland, Vt.; two brothers, Gerrield Whitney of Granville and Thomas Whitney of Wells, Vt.; five sisters: Barbara Burcherrie of Pennsylvania, Faith Burch of Oneonta, Jessie Hasting of Orwell, Vt., Caroline Vaughn of Hudson Falls and Cindy Monroe of Granville; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two aunts; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, with the Rev. Mary Beth Hutchinson officiating. Burial will be at Morningside Cemetery, Hartford. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. GREENWICH -- Scott T. James, 32, a resident of Wilson Street, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital. Born May 7, 1973, in Cobleskill, he is the son of Thomas James and Carol Riese. Scott was a graduate of Greenwich Central School and had been employed by Greenwich Excavating for eight years. He was employed as a pipefitter for Albany Specialty for the past 2-1/2 years. This past summer, he attended Modern Welding School in Troy and became a certified welder. He was a big outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. His first love was for his family. Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Lynn Peregrim James of Greenwich; three children, Austin James age 6-1/2, Jacob James, 3-1/2, and Carmen James, 7 weeks; two half sisters, Lisa Greene of Connecticut and April Arana of Mexico; his grandmother, Leone Fingerson of Wisconsin. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich. A memorial service for Scott will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with Father Allen Peyton officiating. Following the memorial service, a baptism service will be held for Carmen James, celebrating the beginning of a new life. Published in the Post-Star on 10/5/2005. Larose, Sophie Alice LAKE GEORGE -- Sophie Alice Larose, 92, went into the arms of the Lord, Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at Westmount Health Facility. Born July 4, 1913, in Fort Plain, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Petreconis. Sophie loved life and one of her favorite pastimes was gardening. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Larose, in 1970, and a daughter, Barbara Larose Littletin, in 1982. Sophie is survived by three daughters and a son: Veronica Sweet and her husband, Jason, of Lake George, Robert Larose of Savannah, Ga., Joan Weller of Glens Falls, and Louise Worth of West Glens Falls; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. today, Oct. 5, at Radloff Funeral Home, Inc., 136 Warren St., Glens Falls. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the funeral home, with Deacon William Bazinet officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Glens Falls Cemetery. Liburdi, Shirley SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- Shirley Liburdi, 72, of Midtown Apartments, passed away in the arms of the Lord, Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, with her sister, Pat Matraw, and her best friend, Leo Clearmont, by her side. Born on Jan. 22, 1933, in Granville, she was the daughter of the late George and Nellie (Jones) Grant. Shirley was a dear friend to Sharon Lemery and Cindy Bell. They did over 20 years of birthday lunches. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She loved to travel, and enjoyed going on boat and bus trips. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Harriette Grant; her first husband, Bike Winnie; and her second husband, George Liburdi. Survivors include her brothers: Gordon Grant and his wife, Jean, of Fort Edward, Gary Grant Sr. and his wife, Linda, of Argyle, Vernon Grant and his wife, Belva, of Fort Edward, Walter Grant, of Glens Falls, and Teddy Grant and his wife, Carol, of Medina, N.Y.; her sister, Patricia Matraw, of South Glens Falls; her aunts, Vera Jones, of Gansevoort, Marilyn Jones, of Schaghticoke, and Jane Jones of Schaghticoke; her uncle, Henry Jones and his wife, Doris, of Schenectady; a loving friend, Leo Clearmont, of Granville; and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.
