Born on Aug. 19, 1970, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Phyllis (Deyette) Golden of Hudson Falls and the late Gilbert Golden. Jay had worked with his uncle Jack Deyette at Jack Deyette Paving before most recently working at O'Connor Construction in Queensbury. He thought of and loved the guys at O'Connor's as if they were his second family. Jay loved working on his 1971 RS Camaro, a car that he restored from the frame up. He also spent many hours drag racing at Lebannon Valley Speedway. He enjoyed country music, four wheeling with his friends and precious moments with his family. Most importantly, Jay was an awesome father of seven children. In addition to his father, Jay was predeceased by his grandfather, Charles Golden and his maternal grandparents, Leon and Louise Deyette. In addition to his mother, Phyllis Golden, Jay is survived by his grandmother, Henrietta "Sally" Golden of Hudson Falls; his fiance‚, Carrie Rivers, of Hudson Falls, and her two sons, Joey Terrio and Logan Terrio, both of Hudson Falls; his daughters, Jade Golden of Hudson Falls and Allison Golden of Galway; his sons, Jay Golden Jr. of Hudson Falls and Adam Golden of Galway; his stepson, Andrew Lee of Galway; his sister, Bethann Bailey and her husband, Tim, of Glens Falls, Wendy Golden and her fianc‚, Cedric Coulman, of Warrensburg, Vickie Culnan of Schenectady; his brothers, Jon Streeter and his wife, Brenda, of Hudson Falls, Mike Streeter and his fianc‚, Laurie Dillon, of Hudson Falls, Gilbert Golden and his wife, Allison, of Lafayette, La.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God Church on 30 LaCrosse St. in Hudson Falls, with Pastor William Kenna, youth pastor, officiating. Haydel-Joyce, Wanda M. "MaMa Wanda" COHOES -- Wanda M. "MaMa Wanda" Haydel-Joyce, 58, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, embraced by her loving family at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Stella Colin Haydel and beloved wife of Richard J. Joyce of Colonie. Wanda spent most of her life in the Capital District area. She attended Glens Falls High School and was employed for more than 20 years at C.R. Bard in Glens Falls. Wanda had a heart of gold and went out of her way for others in need. She touched the hearts of all she met. To know her was to love her and she will remain in our hearts and memories forever. Wanda is survived by her dear and loving husband, Richard, of 19 years; her devoted children: Jodie L. Fritz-Mastopietro and her husband, Stephen, of California, Janel R. Fritz of Saratoga and Winston L. Fritz Jr. of Michigan; two grandchildren and one on the way; three brothers and two sisters and many nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. for a memorial service at her residence, 1 Dudley Ave., Cohoes, N.Y., with the Rev. Nick Tebordo officiating. Oathout, 79, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at his residence. Born June 6, 1926, in Little Falls, he was the son of Milford and Hazel (Barnes) Oathout. Mr. Oathout was a graduate of Springfield College and retired as group pension consultant for Mass Mutual. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Osbelt) Oathout; his son, Timothy A. Oathout of Hudson Falls; his daughter, Emily G. Hilder and her husband, Les, of Granville; his sister, Blanche Zelinski of St. Johnsville and his nephew, Peter Zelinski. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, with the Rev. James Peterson officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home. Published in the Post-Star on 10/7/2005. Smith Jr., Louis C. "Peanut" HARTFORD -- Louis C. "Peanut" Smith Jr., 63, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at his residence. Born Sept. 11, 1942, in Granville, he was the son of the late, Louis C. Sr. and Dorothy (Lake) Smith. He entered the Army following his graduation from Hartford Central School and recently retired from the Reserves with the rank of sergeant. During his active duty, he served on an aircraft carrier. Mr. Smith had also been an instructor at Great Meadow Prison. Besides his parents, one brother, Wayne Raymer, also died before him. Survivors include one brother, Lester Raymer of Delanson; four sisters, Marsha Thomas of Albany, Melody Carter of Cambridge, Mary Lindstrom of Pennsylvania and Elizabeth Cilley of New Hampshire; several nieces and nephews and cousins, including Shirley Lake of Danby, Vt., and Ron Roberts of Granville, who were very close to him. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, with the Rev. James Peterson officiating. Smith, Ruth SALEM - Ruth Smith, 74, of Salem, died Thursday morning, Oct. 6, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. She was born Jan. 31, 1931, in Long Island, the daughter of the late Henry and Freida Mahlstedt Euler. Ruth graduated from Cambridge schools and was employed at the Salem Central School in the cafeteria for 25 years before retiring. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Ruth enjoyed knitting, flowers and gardening, cooking and loved traveling and wintered in Florida for the past several years. In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Russell V. Smith; a daughter, Barbara A. Smith, as well as her brother, John Euler. She is survived by her brother, Harold Euler of Saratoga Springs; her brother and sister in law, Lyle and Shirley Smith of West Boylston, Mass; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Salem, with the Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating. Van Dyke, 57, of Loughberry Park, Saratoga Springs, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, surrounded by his loving family at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. Born on Dec. 10, 1947, in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Daniel E. and Dolores A. (Kaufman) Scott. Following graduation from Bolton Central School in 1966, Art enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in February 1967, serving in Vietnam mainly as an instrument repairman until his honorable discharge November 1970. He attended various colleges throughout his life, receiving his associates degree in liberal arts in 1999 from Adirondack Community College in Queensbury. A frequent traveler, Art lived in many places, including Vermont and Florida, over the years, making many friends along the way. Art enjoyed the ocean, motorcycling and spending time with his children and family. He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel E., who passed away in 1978 and Dolores A. (Kaufman) Scott who passed away in 1995, both formerly of Warrensburg. Art is survived by his children, Jodie Hobbs of South Glens Falls, and his granddaughter, Stephanie; his son, Erik and wife, Anissa, of Robbins Air Force Base, Ga.; four sisters, Eileen Van Dyke and her partner, Tom Parker, of Saratoga Springs, Kelly Johnstone and her husband, Eric, of New York City, Karolyn Scott of Buffalo, and Kathy Rounds of Warrensburg; five brothers, Ron Scott and his partner, Maggie Deane, of Buffalo, David Scott and his wife, Thelma, of Deland, Fla., Jeffery Scott of Ballston Spa, Daniel Scott and his wife, Laurie, of South Glens Falls, Curt Springer and his wife, Merry, of Lake Luzerne; one aunt, Evelyn Benack of Glens Falls; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. No calling hours or services will be offered per Art's request. Memorial services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Maynard D.
