HUDSON FALLS -- Richard F. Donovan, Sr., 83, formerly of Hudson Falls, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, at Stanton Health Care Facility in Queensbury, after a long illness. Born on May 22, 1922, in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late George and Lena (Smith) Donovan. Mr. Donovan attended Hudson Falls High School, until leaving to serve with the United States Army during World War II. For many years he was a dress cutter for Gruber's Dressmakers, formerly in Hudson Falls. Mr. Donovan enjoyed gambling, playing the horses and lotto. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Wilber Donovan. Survivors include his wife, Etta (Murray) Donovan of Hudson Falls; their children: Debby VanGuilder and her husband, Bruce, of Hudson Falls, Mike Donovan and his wife, Bev, of Hudson Falls, and Richard Donovan Jr. of Hudson; his grandchildren: Heather VanGuilder, Christian VanGuilder, Benjamin VanGuilder and Adrienne VanGuilder, Candyce Donovan, Angela Gille, Andrea Smith, Charles Woodard, Megan Ryder, Maura Donovan, Molly Donovan, Matthew Donovan and Michaela Donovan; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Gene Reynolds of Schenectady; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Smith, pastor of the Hudson Falls First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial, with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post 574 of Hudson Falls, will be held at Glens Falls Cemetery on Bay Street in the City of Glens Falls. Landolfi, Carol Ann SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- Carol Ann Landolfi, 65, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Feb. 28, 1940, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Ferdinand and Anna (Bednartz) Szpala. Carol Ann graduated from St. Michael's Commercial High School in Brooklyn on June 24, 1957. She was a devoted member of St. Michael's Church in South Glens Falls and worked for Grand Union Co. for several years. Carol Ann and Frank J. Landolfi were married on Oct. 14, 1961. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved being with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and scrabble player. She loved crocheting, baking and caring for her backyard birds. Carol Ann was also known for her festive Christmas light display at their South Glens Falls home, which was anticipated by many local residents each year. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Raymond Szpala. Survivors include her husband, Frank J. Landolfi of South Glens Falls; her children: CMSgt. Christine Williams and her husband SMSgt. David Williams of San Antonio, Texas, Raymond Landolfi of Smithtown, N.Y., Marianne Moody and her husband, Robert Moody Jr. of Burlington, Ky., and Francine Landolfi of South Glens Falls; her grandchildren: Caitlyn MacKay and Sean Ryan MacKay of San Antonio, Texas, Robert "Bo" Moody of Burlington, Ky., Melissa Moulton and her husband, Clay, of Glens Falls, and Stephanie Williams and Christina Williams of San Antonio, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 21, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mabb, George William GLENS FALLS -- George William Mabb, 89, formerly of Pasco Avenue in Queensbury and at the time of his passing, living with his daughter, Donna Lozo at Larose Gardens Apartments, passed away on Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital after a short illness. Born on Feb. 21, 1916, in Ballston Spa, he was the son of the late Fred and Emily (Crandell) Mabb Sr. Mr. Mabb was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. On April 18, 1938, he married Cora Hermance in Schuylerville. She passed away on Jan. 3, 2003. Mr. Mabb worked at Finch, Pruyn & Co., Inc. in Glens Falls for 42 years, retiring in 1980. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. In the summer you would find him and his adored wife, Cora, at the beach picnicking with his grandchildren. According to his family, he could best be described as a good ole family man. When he was younger, he enjoyed stock car racing. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by three infant children, Richard, Gary and Audrey; and his brother, Frederick Mabb. Survivors include his children, Donald Mabb and his wife, Peggy, of Montana, George Mabb and his wife, Donna, of Queensbury, Rosemary Speller and her husband, Mario, of Florida, Sandy Perkins of Florida, Gerald Mabb and his wife, Barbara, of Indiana, Florence Welsh and her husband, Jerry, of Utah, Donna Lozo of Glens Falls, William Mabb and his wife, Darlene, of Hudson Falls, Dale Mabb of Queensbury, and Cindy Brayton and her husband, Donald, of Gansevoort; his stepson, George Mabb of Glens Falls; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. Trudel, Dorothy Jones "Dottie" CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Dorothy "Dottie" Jones Trudel, 79, daughter of Dorothy (Gallup) Jones and Dr. Samuel M. Jones, prominent industrialist and owner of the Jones Division of the Arnold Print Works in North Adams, Mass. between 1926 and 1942, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at her home in Coral Springs, Fla. Born in North Adams in 1925, Dottie lived on Bulkley Street in Williamstown, graduated from Colby Junior College and was employed in the dean's office of Williams College. As a young woman she was an accomplished equestrian. In 1949 she married Albert Trudel of Claremont, N.H. and eventually settled in Glens Falls, in 1960. She and Al dearly loved raising five children. Among her many civic interests were, past president of the Glens Falls Hospital Guild, longtime volunteer with the American Red Cross, and the Church of the Messiah in Glens Falls. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Together with Al, they maintained their beautiful home and gardens at 278 Ridge St. as one of the city's showplaces. Their home was featured in city historic home tours. Upon Al's retirement from owning C. V. Peters men's clothing store, she and Al spent an increasing amount of time at their home in Florida, moving there full-time in 1990. While in Florida, Dottie loved the visits of her children and 11 grandchildren and enjoyed traveling with them on vacations. In Coral Springs, she continued her interest in service to the community by volunteering at Coral Springs Medical Center and helping to manage their local Thrift Shop. Dottie was predeceased by her husband Al in 2000. She is survived by her children: Steven Trudel of Florence, Mass., Dorothy Lyn Trudel of Coral Springs, Fla., Samuel Trudel of Shoreham, Vt., David Trudel of Montgomery, Ala., and Susan Marton of Martinsville, N.J., and grandchildren: Jason, Joseph and Alexis Cenami, Ryan and Alyssa Trudel, Timothy Trudel, Larra Wallace, and Jeremy, Emily, Samuel and Philip Marton. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Church of the Messiah in Glens Falls. Memorial contributions to the Glens Falls Hospital in Dottie's name are welcome.
