Belden, Philip J. "Bud" CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Philip J. "Bud" Belden, age 72, a Chelmsford, Mass., resident for 28 years, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 18, 2005, at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, Mass., after a long illness. He was the husband of Shirley (Mahar) Belden, with whom he celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on Oct. 6, 2005. Born on July 8, 1933, in Fort Ann, he was the son of the late Marion (Fitzgerald) Belden. Mr. Belden joined the U.S. Army in 1950, and served for 30 years. He served in the 187th Airborne Regiment at Fort Campbell, Ky., and he served in Korea with the 327th Infantry Regiment. Mr. Belden served two tours in Vietnam, one with the 101st Airborne Division and was awarded a Silver Star medal for gallantry in action and a second with the 508th Infantry, 82nd Division and was awarded a Bronze Star medal for meritorious service. He retired as a Command Sergeant Major in 1980. He was employed by Purity Supermarkets, Inc. of North Billerica, Mass, from 1980 until his retirement in 1992. Mr. Belden was a communicant of St. Mary's Parish in Chelmsford, Mass. He was a member of the Band of Brothers, the Tyngsboro Sportsman's Club, and the Lowell Korean War Veterans. He enjoyed his grandchildren and fishing. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lee and Peter Thompson of Nashua, N.H., Debra Belden and Wally Arndt of Chelmsford, Mass.; a son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Deborah Belden of Ludlow, Mass.; five grandchildren: Allison Thompson, Nicholas and Jacqueline Arndt and Matthew and Jacob Belden; a sister, Nancy Leonbruno of South Glens Falls; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert Mahar and Joan Mahar of Argyle; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Belden is also survived by three close friends, Richard Nicholson, Richard Kelley and Sebastian Lavasco. He was the nephew of the late Gertrude Fitzgerald of Hudson Falls. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford, Mass. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church, Chelmsford, Mass. Published in the Post-Star on 10/20/2005. Brault, Arnold P. "Pete" ROCHESTER -- Arnold P. "Pete'" Brault, of Rochester, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at age 87. Pete was a veteran of World War II, Pacific Theater, a member of the American Legion Post 0001 (St. Albans), served in the Vermont National Guard prior to and after returning from World War II. He retired from Finch, Pruyn & Co., Inc., and from the town of Queensbury. He and his family lived in the Glens Falls area upon leaving St. Albans in 1957. Pete was predeceased by his parents, Eugene Brault and Laura Church Brault. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Claire Desautels Brault of Rochester; daughter, Barbara Brault of Rochester; grandchildren, Peter Hubinsky of Rochester and Sarah Hubinsky-Phelps of Pomona, Calif.; and great-grandson, Nathan Hubinsky of Rochester. Burial services will be held in Pete and Claire's hometown of Saint Albans, Vt., Calvary Cemetery, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005. "Sandy" Delaney, 66, formerly of Glens Falls, passed away peacefully at Schuyler Ridge Residential Health Care Facility in Clifton Park, on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, after a long illness. Born on Oct. 18, 1939 in, Gouverneur, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Evelyn (Clark) Dashnaw. She married John E. Delaney in 1963. He died in 1990, after 27 years of marriage. Sandy took care of children in her home for many years and was well-known for her Friendly Home Toy parties, which she conducted for over 20 years. She was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church in Glens Falls. Her enjoyments included listening to country music, being a member of the New Country Fan Club and doing arts and crafts at the Schuyler Ridge Residential Facility in Clifton Park. She loved to keep busy. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a favorite cousin, Dawn Collins. Survivors include one son, Brian Delaney and his wife, Helen, of Glens Falls; two daughters, Penny Deasy and her husband, Brian, of Round Lake, and Amy Delaney of Glens Falls; her grandchildren: Jonathon Delaney, Nathan Delaney, Adam Delaney, Sarah Francis, Cheyenne Delaney, Daniel Deasy, and granddaughter, Deasy expected at Thanksgiving time; one brother, Lloyd Dashnaw and his wife, Joan, of Harrisville, N.Y.; one sister, Rita Iloff and her husband, Harold, of Calcium, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jay Kline, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury. Fehl, Allyn Vincent GLENS FALLS -- Allyn Vincent Fehl, 82, of Arbor Drive, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Sept. 15, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence F. and Edith (King) Soutter. She maintained the family flower and vegetable farms in both East Longmeadow, Mass., and Glens Falls. Her interest in pottery led her to establish three different American handcraft shops, in Siesta Key, Fla, Saint Armond's Key, Fla., and Lake George. She made many wonderful friendships in the craft trade and in her other endeavors. Allyn is survived by a son, James L. Fehl and his wife, Judith (Lee) of Salem, N.Y.; two grandsons, Jeffrey L. Fehl and his significant other, Renee Lochner, and their son, Keegan, of Hudson Falls, and Justin D. Fehl and his fiancee, Angela Bardin, of Fort Edward. Published in the Post-Star on 10/20/2005. Murphy, Mary R. "Marion" QUEENSBURY -- Mary "Marion" R. Murphy, 91, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at The Terrace at The Glen at Hiland Meadows. Born on June 17, 1914, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Ryan. She was educated at St. Mary's Academy. In addition to attending the school, Marion was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church. It was there that she married Joseph Murphy, co-owner of Burns News Room, a well-known downtown business. Marion worked for the FBI in Albany during World War II. Later, she was employed as a legal secretary in Glens Falls, until her retirement in 1976. Marion enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, playing bridge, and, of course, family gatherings. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a young brother and sister. She is survived by two sons, Richard Murphy, of Glens Falls, and Jack Murphy, and his wife, Janet, of Queensbury; a very special grandson, Mark Murphy, of Queensbury; and her cousins, Anne and Philip Sullivan. At the family's request, there will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls. Underwood, Shirley Ann "Country Girl" Glens Falls -- Shirley "Country Girl" Ann Underwood, 61, of William Street, died peacefully at her home, on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, after a three-year battle with cancer. Born on May 28, 1944, in Plattsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret (La Fountain) Carter. Shirley's most precious moments were spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed going for long walks. Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Lynn Gille, and her companion, Phillip Lauder, of Argyle; her sons, Timothy Lee Underwood, of Glens Falls, Larry Joe Underwood Jr., and his companion, Amy Weatherwax, of Glens Falls, and Phillip Lance Underwood, of Queensbury; her grandchildren, Nichole Underwood, of Schuylerville, James Brayman Jr., of Argyle, Larry Joe Underwood III, of Glens Falls; her great-grandchildren, Jordon Scott Destefano-Brayman, of Argyle, and Tiarra Lynn Couture, of Argyle; her sister, Rose Bechore, of Dannemora, N.Y.; her brother, Anthony Carter, and his wife, Barbara, of Texas; her uncle, Victor La Fountain, of Plattsburgh; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
