WEST RUPERT, Vt. -- Evelyn J. Blomberg, 89, of West Rupert, Vt., beloved wife of the late Arthur Blomberg, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 7, 2005, at The Orchard Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Granville. Mrs. Blomberg was born Oct. 7, 1915, in Rupert, Vt., the daughter of the late Mark and Flora Wright Bentley. She worked at Lewis Bros. Mill in West Rupert and was a homemaker and a member of the West Rupert Church of Christ and the Salem Area Senior Citizens. Mrs. Blomberg enjoyed crocheting, gardening and was a caregiver. She is survived by her loving children: Axel Blomberg and his wife, Donna, of West Rupert, Vt., Arthur Blomberg and his wife, Shirley, and Eric Blomberg and his wife, Phyllis, all of Willimantic, Conn., and Johanna Steinruck and her husband, Clifford, of Mohrsville, Pa. She is also survived by a sister, Sara Lake of Hoosick Falls; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Justin Bentley. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 11:30 a.m. at McClellan Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem, with the Rev. Bramer, 63, of Midnight Drive, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, after a year long battle with MDS and leukemia. Born on Sept. 11, 1941, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Elias C. and Doris I. (Backus) Manley. Joyce was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School, Class of 1959. On July 11, 1959, she married her high school sweetheart, Lloyd Bramer, at the Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Hudson Falls. Joyce retired from New York Telephone Co. after more than 20 years of service. Most recently, she was a real estate agent for Realty USA. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Joyce was an active lifelong member of the Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God Church. She especially enjoyed working with the young girls in Missionettes, her Stars. Joyce regularly attended Christian Women's luncheons, annual garden tours and Christmas tours of area homes. Joyce loved tending her flower garden. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Joyce was the center of her family. She always made everyone feel special. Joyce was a devoted daughter who took care of her mother in later years. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always looked at the world in a positive light. Joyce loved to bake and entertain her family and friends. Joyce's gentle grace will be greatly missed. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by an infant brother. Cielen, Joan (Wilson) HUDSON FALLS -- Joan (Wilson) Cielen, 79, of Hudson Falls, and formerly of Jackson, Mich., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, surrounded by her family. She was born Jan. 24, 1926, in Leona Township, Jackson County, to the late Fred and Wilma (Schram) Wilson. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, in 1989, after 40 years of marriage. Joan is survived by two sons, Michael (Cathy) Cielen of Jackson, Mich., and Alfred (Julie) Cielen of Horton, Mich.; a daughter, Rose (Tom) Harrington of Hudson Falls; eight grandchildren: Michelle Cielen of Brooklyn, Michael Cielen of Phoenix, Ariz., Matthew Cielen of Southbend, Ind., Emily (Billy) Maher of Concord, Mich, Jason Cielen and his fiancee, Chrissy Killgrove, of Kalamazoo, Mich., Jessica and Jacob Cielen of Horton, Mich., and Stephanie Harrington of Hudson Falls; three great-grandchildren: Gaje Kyuss and Olivia Maher; two brothers, Fred (Pam) Wilson of Stockbridge, Mich., and Gene (Sue) Wilson of Lansing, Mich.; three sisters, Betty Saathoff of Rodney, Mich., Joyce Sober of Vicksburg, Mich., and Juanita (Jerry) Spitzley of Fowler, Mich.; three sisters-in-law, Helen Hazeres, Tessie (Ralph) Kwaske and Joan Donnelly; and a brother-in-law, Edward Korniski, all of Jackson, Mich.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joan retired from Kelsey Hayes in 1984. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary P.L.A.V. Chapter No. 83 of Jackson since 1977. She was a loving mother and grandmother and there was no one more proud of her accomplishments. For the past 12 years she had lived in Hudson Falls with her daughter, Rose, son-in-law, Tom, and granddaughter, Stephanie. That is where she was welcomed with open hearts and homes by Tom's family and their friends. To her New York family she was "Bachi." Thank you, she loved you all. Duffy, formerly of Middletown, N.Y., and a resident of Queensbury, died peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005. at home. He was 73. Mr. Duffy was born Oct. 21, 1931, in Carbondale, Pa., to Eugene Duffy and Katherine Campbell. He was a retiree of the Bethlehem Central School District in Delmar, where he served as district supervisor of English/Language Arts, K-12 from 1971 to 1991. Mr. Duffy was a graduate of Middletown High School, Class of 1950. He graduated from Orange County Community College in Middletown, in 1952. He received his B.A. in English from New York State Teachers College at Albany in 1954 and his M.A. in English in 1957. During 1969 and 1970 he took graduate courses in administration and supervision at New York University and SUNY New Paltz. He received his permanent certificate in administration and supervision in 1971. Mr. Duffy began his teaching career at Pine Bush Central School in Pine Bush, N.Y. from 1954 to 1956. He worked as an English teacher in Newfield, N.Y. from 1956 to 1957. He then became an English teacher at Monroe-Woodbury Central School District in Central Valley, N.Y. and remained there from 1957 to 1971. He became the district coordinator of English from 1967 to 1971. He was also and instructor of English at Queen of the Apostles College in Harriman, N.Y., from 1966 to 1967. During this time he also served as an associate professor of English, Evening Division at Orange County Community College in Middletown. During his tenure at Bethlehem Central he also served as an adjunct professor in educational theory and practice at the State University of New York at Albany from 1984 to 1991. He served as a judge for the National Council of Teachers of English Achievement Awards for Writing from 1971 to 1977. Mr. Duffy also served as a consultant for the New York State Education Department, Bureau of English Education in Albany, from 1970 to 1991. During his career, Mr. Duffy received awards for his outstanding achievements. In 1989 he received the New York State English Council Excellence in Teaching Award. In 1990, he received the Award of Honor from The National School Public Relations Association. During 1989 to 1990 he received the Who's Who in American Education Award. He was a member of the National Council of Teacher of English Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and was also a member of the National Education Association. Mr. Duffy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Adams Duffy of Queensbury. They married on Dec. 26, 1959, at the Sacred Heart Church in Monroe, N.Y. Mr. Duffy is also survived by two sons, William J. and his wife, Monica; and grandson, Owen, of Queensbury, and Thomas M. and his wife, Jennifer, and grandson, Jason, of Webster, N.Y. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas and his wife, Janet, of Circleville, N.Y. and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Duffy was predeceased by a son, Eugene, and his parents, Eugene and Katherine Duffy of Middletown. "Teeny" Gray, 79, of Eddy Street, died on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born on Sept. 24, 1925, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Connolly) Ives. Teeny graduated from Fort Edward High School in the class of 1944. Ernestine married the late George Gray on Oct. 15, 1949, at St. Joseph's Church, Fort Edward. Teeny was employed for many years as court clerk, for the village and town of Fort Edward, and was a matron of the Fort Edward Police Department. In retirement, she always enjoyed riding in parades with the lead police car. She loved spending time with her family and friends, having parties at her daughter's property on the river, and traveling. Teeny was a member of the Police Benevolent Association, the Glens Falls Hospital Guild, and a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fort Edward, where she was a religious education teacher for many years. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Paige Lane Gray, and her brothers, Raymond, Lawrence, and Harold Ives. Survivors include her daughter, Colleen Massa and her husband, Mario, of Fort Edward; her sons, Michael Gray and his wife, Kim, of Queensbury, and Patrick Gray, of Gansevoort; her grandchildren: Jill Massa, of Gansevoort, Marisa Massa of Cookville, Tenn., Michael Gray, of Queensbury, and Parker Gray of Sparta, Tenn.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lewis, Agnes C. HUDSON FALLS -- Agnes C. Lewis, 85, of Lower Allen Street, passed away, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on March 20, 1920, in Hoboken, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Geppner) Hall. She attended St. Mary's Parochial School and Hudson Falls High School. In 1937, she married Walter B. Lewis at St. Mary's Church in Hudson Falls. He died on Aug. 24, 1994. For 22 years, Agnes worked at General Electric Co. in Fort Edward. She was a communicant of St. Mary's/St. Paul's Catholic Church in Hudson Falls. At one time, Agnes was a member of the Hudson Falls Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting bed dolls and afghans. Agnes was a wonderful cook and will forever be known as baking the best apple pie and chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. According to her family, Agnes was an excellent role model for her children and grandchildren. She set the benchmark for being a wonderful parent, grandmother and sister. Agnes was the Queen mother that ruled the roost, bringing the family together in good times as well as times of trouble. She was a saint and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Besides her husband, a son, John Francis Lewis, died in 1971. Survivors include her three sons, Joseph Lewis of Hudson Falls, James Lewis and his wife, Heidemarie, of Kingsbury, and Jeffrey Lewis and his wife, Chris, of Virginia Beach, Va.; her two daughters, Patricia McKinney and her husband, Richard, of Fort Edward, and Mary Ellen Crevison and her husband, Jerold, of Fort Edward; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; seven great- great-grandchildren; her sister, Eleanor Houghton and her husband, Richard, of Queensbury; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Maier, 67, of Montray Road, went into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 7, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. Born May 27, 1938, in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late George and Ada (Rapp) Ostrander. While attending Good Shepherd Methodist Church in Bergenfield, N.J., she met and later married Gerald B. Maier on Nov. 7, 1981, in that same church. For 18 years, she worked as an order clerk at Scholastics Magazines in Englewood Cliffs, N.J., until the company relocated, allowing Evelyn to stay at home tending to domestic duties. Evelyn enjoyed singing. She was very active in her churches, where she sang in the choir, often performing solos. She enjoyed working in her garden, cooking and baking, especially blueberry muffins, and caring for her dog, "Celeste," whom she loved dearly and who misses her tremendously. She also enjoyed going for nice relaxing rides, touring the beautiful countryside. Above all, she loved people. She was gifted with a very compassionate personality. Caring for her loving husband and her beloved dog truly were the light of her life, along with caring for her aunt, and her sister, who both lived with Evelyn and her husband for many years. Besides her parents, and many aunts and uncles, one sister, Marie Mc Craw, predeceased her. Survivors include her loving husband, Gerald "Jerry" Maier, of Queensbury; her dog, "Celeste;" one sister, Dolores Bell and her husband, Ed, of Glens Falls; four brothers: Alfred Ostrander and his wife, Mildred, of Pennsylvania, Ronald Ostrander and his wife, Betty, of New Jersey, Harry Ostrander and his wife, Marilyn, of Pennsylvania, and Bruce Ostrander and his wife, Mary, of southern New York; one aunt, Jane Ostrander, of Florida; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Selfridge of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Gansevoort, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at Tandem Health Care Facility at Lake Parker in Lakeland, Fla. Born on April 23, 1914, in Athol, she was the daughter of Marshall and Bertha Reynolds Gallup. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Gansevoort. Her husband of 30 years, Charles Edward, "Ed" died in November, 1963. She moved from South Glens Falls to Lakeland, Fla., in April, 1982. She retired from Fort Edward Scott Paper Co. in 1971, after 23 years of service as a finisher. One of her proudest accomplishments was being a foster grandparent at the Wilton Developmental Center, where she devoted much love to the special clients at that facility. An ardent gardner and "green-thumb" she was surrounded by growing things, flowers, plants and herbs of all descriptions. She was a piano player that "knew the notes", but played best by ear. She loved to go to the dances in the Lakeland area and attended them well into her 80s. Survivors include a son, James of Prospect, N.Y., and Lady Lake, Fla.; a daughter, Shirley LaPoint and her husband, Fredrick "Bud," of Gansevoort; a sister-in-law, Joyce Gallup of Latham; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; plus several nieces, nephews and cousins. After cremation in Lakeland, burial and a memorial service will be held at the Selfridge family plot in the Gansevoort Cemetery at the convenience of family and friends. Published in the Post-Star on 9/9/2005. Weaver, Irene B. QUEENSBURY -- Mrs. Irene B. Weaver, 80, formerly of South Valley, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Eden Park Nursing Home, Cobleskill. She was born Jan. 14, 1925, in Cooperstown, the daughter of Louis M. and Lottie E. (Vanderwerker) Brazie. She attended school in Cobleskill, graduating with the Class of 1942. She attended Oneonta State Teacher's College and taught school at Cherry Valley, West Windfield, Chittenango, Warrensburg, Lake George, Queensbury, and Bolton. She married Durwood Weaver in 1946 in Richfield. He predeceased her. Irene was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls. She enjoyed going to auctions, collecting antiques, many of which she refinished, and gardening. She spent time in Arizona and at their camp on Otsego Lake. In the early '70s, she and her husband purchased the historic Sanford home on Ridge Road. They spent many years renovating and restoring it and it became a "labor of love." She is survived by a brother, Harold Brazie of Cherry Valley, three nephews, Rodney Brazie of Cherry Valley, Randy Brazie of Dallas Texas, and Robbie Brazie of Boise, Ind., good friends, Beverly Maine of Queensbury, Debbie and John Clynes and their daughters, Meredith and Carolyn of Glens Falls. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley. Services and committal in Pine View Cemetery, Queensbury, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow.
