Born Aug. 19, 1914, in the town of Easton, he was the son of Clifford and Florence Smith DuFrain. Lonnie was a retired employee of the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company in Mechanicville and also was employed by the Stevens and Thompson Paper Company in Middle Falls and delivered flowers for the Greenwich Florist. He cut trees for many years in the area and was known to many as the tree man. He was predeceased in addition to his parents by his wife, Kristina, and a brother, Burdette DuFrain. Survivors include two sons, SGM (R) Clifford M. Dufrain Sr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Lawrence Dufrain Jr. of Victory Mills; a daughter, Lorraine Morrison of Hudson Falls; a sister, Evelyn McDonald of Granville; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to a memorial gathering for both Lawrence and Kristina from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at Flynn Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville. At 6 p.m. there will be a remembrance of their parents by members of the family. Interment will be in the Greenwich Cemetery. Knowles, 87, of Farm to Market Road, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital following a brief illness. Born on Dec. 23, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Benedict and Anna (Katrina) Pilleskey. Mrs. Knowles attended school in Corinth. She married Michael Errico and the couple resided in Saratoga Springs. He died in 1960. She then married Thomas Knowles in 1966, in Greenfield Center, and they lived on Farm to Market Road in Corinth for many years. He died March 8, 1988. Mrs. Knowles enjoyed cooking, canning, helping out on the family farm, and spending time with her grandchildren. Besides her husbands and her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Bruno, Stanley (Unck), and Bill. Survivors include one daughter, Pauline Foulkes and her husband, James, of Holiday, Fla.; four sons, Michael Errico and his wife, Joan, of Rochester, Greg Knowles and his wife, Laura, of Corinth, William Knowles of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Mark Knowles and his wife, Darlene, of Saratoga Springs; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, at the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth, with the Rev. Charles Gaffigan, pastor of the church of the Immaculate Conception of Corinth, officiating. A Rite of committal will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Corinth. Lavery, Kathryn T. BALLSTON SPA -- Kathryn T. Lavery, of Chapman Street, died at her home on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, following a lengthy struggle with multiple myeloma. She was 65 years old. Born Kathryn Nellie Towers on Oct. 4, 1939, in Corinth, she was the sixth of nine children by the late Harold and Mabel (Gurney) Towers. Kathryn graduated from Corinth Central High School in 1957 along with her eventual husband of 43 years, the Rev. James Lavery. She attended the State University at Oneonta where she majored in English, and she supported her husband through graduate school working in many capacities. Her principal employment prior to early retirement in 1998 was as a senior secretary in the Ballston Spa Middle School for 14 years where she enjoyed both the children and the people with whom she served. Kathryn was especially fond of choral music and sang in seven church choirs over the years as well as in the Mohawk Valley Chorus. She also enjoyed traveling. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three daughters, Donna Phillips and her husband, Rick of Melrose, Karen Willmott and her husband, Greg, of Wilton and Jeanie Guity and her husband, Julio of Menands; four grandchildren, Kyle, Connor, Avril and Julio; her siblings, Pauline Densmore, Harold Towers Jr., Donald Towers, Veda Boggs and Terrance Towers, all of Corinth, Eugene Towers of Cherry Hill, N.J., Richard Towers of Alaska, and Carolyn Watulak of Rutland, Vt.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at the Ballston Spa United Methodist Church, 101 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa. Visiting hours will be in the Sanctuary of the church between 10 and 11 a.m. followed by the service. A lunch for all will be prepared by the Bereavement Committee of the church following the service. Private burial will be in the Dunning Street Cemetery, Malta. Mason, 48, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, in Glens Falls. He was born Feb. 2, 1957, in Schenectady, the son of Louise (English) Mason and the late Dr. Thomas Mason. Tim worked as the account executive for Keebler/Kellogg in Glens Falls. He was and avid athlete, running in the Boston Marathon and the Iron Man Triathlons multiple times. His love was playing hockey and coaching his son Matthew in the Adirondack Youth Hockey, and coaching his daughter Molly in soccer. He enjoyed spending time with the family boxer Toby DaBoy. Tim's whole life was about his love for sports and family. His father Dr. Thomas Mason predeceased him. Tim is survived by his wife, Lisa (Plocharczyk) Mason; his son, Matthew Mason, his daughter, Molly Mason, all of Glens Falls; his mother, Louise (English) Mason of Heathrow, Fla.; his four brothers, Dr. Michael Mason and wife, Micheline, of Northfield Vt.; Patrick Mason and wife, Anita, of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; Mark Mason and wife, Fernanda, of Miami, Fla.; Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Mason of Scotia, N.Y.; his three sisters, Maureen Mason Cover and husband, Del, of San Diego, Calif.; Maria Mason of Bready, Fla.; Dr. Colleen Zittel and husband, Dr. Gregory Zittel, of Heathrow, Fla.; an abundance of extended family members and many, many, friends. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept 16, at Singleton-Healy Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury, with Father James Mackey officiating. Newton, 86, of Mount Hope Avenue, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at the Horace Nye Nursing Home of Elizabethtown. Born in Ticonderoga, Oct. 23, 1918, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Downey) Donahue. Mrs. Newton was a lifelong resident of Mineville and Ticonderoga. She has been a resident of Ticonderoga for the past 30 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga and was a former member of the Catholic Daughters, Court of St. Mary's No. 794. Mary was an avid golfer. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold L. Newton, on Sept. 27, 1992. She was also predeceased by five sisters, Marie LaFountain, Florence LaFountain, Helen Tompkins, Evelyn Phinney and Agnes Pierce; and by two brothers, James Donahue and Michael Donahue. Survivors include two sisters, Alice Carey of New Port Richey, Fla., and Blanche Brown of Port Henry. She is also survived by three nieces and two nephews. Published in the Post-Star on 9/14/2005. Parsons, William F. "Willy" COLONIE -- William "Willy" F. Parsons, 93, a longtime Colonie resident, passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005. William was born on Sept. 14, 1911, in Saratoga Springs, and was the son of the late Edward D. and Lois A. Parsons. He worked as a dispatcher for Niagara Mohawk for 46 years before retiring in 1979. William was a member of St. Clare's Church for the past 17 years. Prior to that he was a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church; member of the Sunset Senior Bowling League; HBQ Kuhn Senior Center; and a former member of the Masons. In addition to bowling he enjoyed square dancing, watching baseball and in his younger years, playing golf. He played semi-pro for the Saratoga Athletic Club and in 1936 he was offered a spot as a pitcher for the New York Yankees. William is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Ida Caron Parsons; his daughter, Sheila L. Holmes; his son, Bruce W. Parsons, both of Hudson Falls; his stepdaughter, Celeste (Steve) Bullis of Waterford; his sons-in-law, Robert Daly of Florida and Donald Holmes of Fort Ann; 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and eight great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Bernadine P. Parsons and three daughters, Pauline F. Smith, Marilyn L. Chance and Beverly J. Daly. Born on Feb. 10, 1930, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Leon and Matilda (Phillips) Renaud. For numerous years, Leon was employed at Eastside Auto Body in Kingsbury and Mandigos Auto, and later retired from general contracting in 1995. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Hazel Renaud Durham. Survivors include his sons, Joseph Renaud of Green Island and Richard Renaud; his stepdaughters, Kate Campbell of Ravena and Jackie Williams and her husband, Donald, of Granville; his sisters, Leona Renaud of Glens Falls and Shirley Renaud of Port Henry; his brothers, Cemile Renaud and his wife, Grace, of Queensbury and Gary Renaud Sr. and his wife, Nadell, of Pensacola, Fla.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home. Rogers, 87, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on Nov. 12, 1917, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Florence (Hurd) Belden. She was a 33-year member of the Glens Falls Hospital Guild. Marion was an avid golfer and bowler. She was secretary of the Hurricane Bowling League for many years, past president and life member of Glens Falls Women's Bowling Association and was inducted into the Glens Falls Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Marion was also a former member of the Tee-Bird Country Club. She retired from Russell & Wait after many years of service. Her husband, Fred D. Rogers Sr., passed away May 13, 2005. She is also predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her children: Marion Longden and her husband, Robert, of Fort Edward, Fred D. Rogers Jr. and his wife, Rosemary, of Glens Falls, Sandra Hunt and her husband, Ken, of Cibolo, Texas, Terry Rogers and his wife, Debra, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., William Rogers and his wife, MaryAnn, of Glens Falls, Knox Rogers and his wife, Judith, of Sedona, Ariz., and Michele Jarvis and her husband, Sam, of Allentown, Pa.; one sister, Florence Corlew of Fort Edward; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville. No calling hours are scheduled. Glens Falls -- Dorothy M. Sanders, 80, passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at her residence with her good friend, Nan Fusco, by her side. Born on Sept. 23, 1924, in West Glens Falls, she was the daughter of LeRoy and Mae (Ploof) Sanders. Dorothy was an avid doll collector. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Sanders, and her sister, Gwen Phillips. Survivors include her brother, Chet Sanders and his wife, Eileen, of South Glens Falls; her sister-in-law, Shirley Sanders of Ballston Spa; and several nieces and nephews. Dot resided with the Young family who became her family: Nan Fusco, Mary Riley, Dominic Young, Anthony Young, Christine Scalzo and Fred Young. They also survive her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at St. Mary's Church, 80 Warren St., Glens Falls. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
