"Freddie" QUEENSBURY -- Alfred W. "Freddie" Guay, 88, passed away Dec. 14, 2004, at is home in Valrico, Fla. Alfred worked in management for the textile business, H.F. Binches, that is now Native Textile. His family, wife, Carrell Ann Guay, son, John Guay, and daughter, Louise E. Brooks and their families wish to fulfill his request. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Our Lady of Annunciation Church, Aviation Road, with the Rev. Joseph Anselment officiating. Interment will take place following the Mass at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Road, Queensbury. Karlson, Carolyn "Carry" GREENWICH -- Carolyn "Carry" Karlson, 62, a resident of county Route 52, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital with family members by her side. During her five-year battle with cancer she always remained positive and was an inspiration to everyone. Born in Rockville Center, N.Y., on Nov. 14, 1942, she was the daughter of Donald and Dorothie Connell Erbe. She lived in Greenwich most of her life and was a 1961 graduate of Greenwich Central School. Carry enjoyed gardening, crafts, cooking, and spending time with her grandson. She worked side by side with her husband for many years. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen, and her father, Donald Erbe. Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Eric "Skip" Karlson of Greenwich; one son, Eric Karlson Jr. of Greenwich; one daughter, Christine Winslow and her husband, Carl, of Queensbury; one special grandson, Jordan Karlson, of Greenwich; her mother, Dorothy Erbe of Hoosick Falls; one brother, Arthur Erbe and his wife, Sharon, of Greenwich; two sisters, Dorothie Flanagan and her husband, George, of Smithtown and Nancy Petroni of Cambridge; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Greenwich Cemetery, with the Rev. Barbara Thomas officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend. There are no calling hours. Parsons, 93, a longtime Colonie resident, passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005. William was born on Sept. 14, 1911, in Saratoga Springs, and was the son of the late Edward D. and Lois A. Parsons. He worked as a dispatcher for Niagara Mohawk for 46 years before retiring in 1979. William was a member of St. Clare's Church for the past 17 years. Prior to that he was a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church; member of the Sunset Senior Bowling League; HBQ Kuhn Senior Center; and a former member of the Masons. In addition to bowling he enjoyed square dancing, watching baseball and in his younger years, playing golf. He played semi-pro for the Saratoga Athletic Club and in 1936 he was offered a spot as a pitcher for the New York Yankees. William is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Ida Caron Parsons; his daughter, Sheila L. Holmes; his son, Bruce W. Parsons, both of Hudson Falls; his stepdaughter, Celeste (Steve) Bullis of Waterford; his sons-in-law, Robert Daly of Florida and Donald Holmes of Fort Ann; 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and eight great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Bernadine P. Parsons and three daughters, Pauline F. Smith, Marilyn L. Chance and Beverly J. Daly. Pensko, 95, a resident of Pine Street, Victory Mills, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital. Born Feb. 18, 1910, in Lloydell, Pa., she was the daughter of Anthony and Catherine Yope Barron. Anna was employed by the Schuyler Prep School in Thomson for many years, and had also been employed by Henry's Restaurant in Schuylerville. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and especially her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Matthew Pensko; sisters, Martha Henry, Sophie Botlock, Agnes Kiss, and Mildred Coker; and brothers, Andrew, Peter, and Frank Barron. Survivors include her daughter, Millie Sullivan of Victory Mills; grandchildren: Vincent Sullivan and his wife, Joan, of Rochester, Matthew Sullivan and his wife, Stacey, of Fort Miller, Jeff Sullivan and his wife, Carrie, of Wasilla, Alaska, and Laurie Burton and her husband, Tim, of Fort Edward; great-grandchildren, Eric, Chrissie, Sarah, Andrea, Coulton, Kimberly and Corbet Sullivan, Cory and Kerri Burton; and several nieces and nephews. Periard, 79, a resident of Monument Drive, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital. Born July 29, 1926, in Victory Mills, he was the son of Emil and Mary Farrell Periard. Bob was a Navy veteran of World War II, and was the recipient of the American Theatre Medal, the Victory Medal and European Theatre Medal with three stars. He was a member of Liberty Post No. 515 American Legion and VFW Post No. 7291 in Greenwich and Lodge No. 81 BPOE in Glens Falls, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Saratoga Springs, the David Nevins Fire Department Auxiliary, and was past member of the Schuyler Hose Co. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Rose Periard; a brother, James Periard; a sister, Edna Carey, and a grandson, Demetrius McKenney. Survivors include his son, Mark Periard and his wife, Devon of Smithfield, Maine; a daughter, Terri Richards and her husband, Patrick, of Schuylerville; his companion, Mary Martinovich of Schuylerville; nine grandchildren: Scott Periard, Durche and Dominic McKenney, Charity Johanson, Delia McKenney, Brian, Eric, Crystal, and Alisa Richards; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Rogers, 87, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on Nov. 12, 1917, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Florence (Hurd) Belden. She was a 33-year member of the Glens Falls Hospital Guild. Marion was an avid golfer and bowler. She was secretary of the Hurricane Bowling League for many years, past president and life member of Glens Falls Women's Bowling Association and was inducted into the Glens Falls Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Marion was also a former member of the Tee-Bird Country Club. She retired from Russell & Wait after many years of service. Her husband, Fred D. Rogers Sr., passed away May 13, 2005. She is also predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her children: Marion Longden and her husband, Robert, of Fort Edward, Fred D. Rogers Jr. and his wife, Rosemary, of Glens Falls, Sandra Hunt and her husband, Ken, of Cibolo, Texas, Terry Rogers and his wife, Debra, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., William Rogers and his wife, MaryAnn, of Glens Falls, Knox Rogers and his wife, Judith, of Sedona, Ariz., and Michele Jarvis and her husband, Sam, of Allentown, Pa.; one sister, Florence Corlew of Fort Edward; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Shelby, 46, a resident of state Route 22 in Salem, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness. Born Feb. 2, 1959, in Beacon, N.Y., she was the daughter of Joseph L. and Rose Ann Fox Scott of Hopewell Junction, N.Y. Leslie's life was centered around her dear husband, Michael, and her sweet son, Nicklaus, her friends, her herb club, and her garden. Survivors in addition to her parents, her husband, and son include three brothers: Jon Scott and his wife, Mara, Jim Scott and his wife, Chris, and Jeff Scott and his wife, Carol; Michael's family: his mother, Margaret Shelby; John and Linda Shelby, Diane and Steve Fana, and Karen and Glenn Murcko; nieces Melanie and Taylor Scott and nephews, Casey and Steven Scott. Wilson, Sylvia Mae Barber SHUSHAN -- Sylvia Mae Barber Wilson, 91, of Shushan, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, at the Centers for Living & Rehabilitation in Bennington, Vt. Born Jan. 12, 1914, in Walloomsac, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Ellis and Anna Kostenblatt Freemyer. Mrs. Wilson was a seamstress for many years at Reis Mills in Cambridge before retiring. She was predeceased by her two husbands, William J. Barber and Al Wilson, as well as a brother, George Freemyer. Survivors include her two sisters, Natalie Judge of Rockville, Conn., and Nettie Parker of Bennington, Vt., and a brother, Clarence Freemyer of Bridport, Vt. She is also survived by three nieces, Joan, Beverly and Nancy. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge. Young, Sandra Ella HUDSON FALLS -- Sandra Ella Young, 71, of Oak Street, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on June 21, 1934, in Mendon, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Leah (Bridge) Bradley. Sandra attended Hudson Falls High School. On July 22, 1956, she married Donald "Bunny" Young at the Hudson Falls First Baptist Church. Sandra worked for years at the Court Grill. She was also employed by Woolworth's in Glens Falls and later, she and her husband operated a record and arcade store in Hudson Falls, for many years. Sandra's greatest joys in life were her husband, children and grandchildren. She had many special friends at the Cafe on the Park and the Hudson Falls Diner. Sandra enjoyed making her special treats for all of her friends at the Department of Public Works. She touched the lives of everyone she met. For years she was known as the grandma taxi, ensuring her grandchildren and many of their friends arrived back and forth to school. Sandra was the greatest strength in her family. She was loved and will be missed by all. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Harrington, and her nephew, Norman Bradley. Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, Donald "Bunny" Young of Hudson Falls; her son, Stanley Young of Hudson Falls; her daughter, Pamela Ouellette of Hudson Falls; her five grandchildren: Heather Ouellette of Queensbury, Nicholas Ouellette of Albany, Ga., Kaitlin Ouellette of Hudson Falls, James Young and Matthew Young, both of Hudson Falls; her three brothers: Norman Bradley and his companion, Linda, of Vermont, Barry Bradley and his wife, Bonnie, of Vermont and Elton Bradley and his wife, Donna, of Fort Edward; her two sisters, Marlene Renner of Pennsylvania, and Tanis Higgins and her husband, Robert, of Hudson Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
