Born on Feb. 6, 1935, in Newburgh, he was the son of the late James E. and Madeline (Fisher) Barron Sr. Jim served with the United States Air Force for 8 1/2 years. On March 19, 1960, he married Patricia Summers at the Congregational Church in Clinton Heights, N.Y. Jim worked for many of the local radio stations in this area for close to 35 years. He was most proud of working with Joe Pezzulo, when they covered the 1980 Olympics, especially the USA's winning hockey game. After retiring from radio, he worked for HA-PE-DE, Inc., at the visitor's center on the Northway. Jim enjoyed working there and "telling tourists where to go." He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hudson Falls, where he served as a deacon and elder. For many years, Jim was a youth leader in the church. He loved going to coffee shops, where he enjoyed meeting and talking to people. One of the most enjoyable things in his life was spending time with his grandchildren. Jim was a CARITAS volunteer and a past member of the Rotary Club and the Kiwanis Club. In addition to his parents, a sister, Denise (Barron) Barker, also died before him. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia Barron, of Hudson Falls; his three sons, Keith Barron and his wife, Sharon, of Skaneateles, Kevin Barron and his wife, Christine, of Winter Park, Fla., and Michael Barron and his wife, Jane, of Greenwich; his seven grandchildren, Andrew Barron, David Barron, Erik Barron, Thomas Barron, Amanda Barron, Jonathan Barron and Alicia Barron; his two brothers, Bruce Barron and his wife, Gloria, of Campbell Hall and Stephen Barron and his wife, Noreen, of Fort Ann; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and therapists who worked with Jim. Your help was greatly appreciated. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church on the park in Hudson Falls, with the Rev. Jason Santalucia, pastor, officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery on Duell Road, in the town of Stillwater. Browne, 69, of Lake George, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at his home. Born on Nov. 3, 1936, in Buffalo, he was the son of Joseph J. Anna (Gleshenen) Browne. John was veteran of the Vietnam War, having served as a staff sergeant with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW of Lake George. In 1990, he and his wife retired to the Lake George area. He enjoyed the Adirondacks, camping, fishing and hiking as well as spending time with his family and friends. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his wife, Gina, on May 26, 1995, and his brother, Edward Browne. Survivors include his children, Paul Browne of Phoenix City, Ala., Joseph Browne of Millville, Pa., Michael Browne of Portland, Ore., Teresa Clayberger of Lake George, Billy Browne of Portland, Ore., and Laura Gregaydis of Villa Rico, Ga.; his grandchildren: Ashley Browne, Brandyn Browne and Fulton Browne; his great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Browne; his brothers, Michael Browne of Colorado and Father Frank Browne of Florida and his sister, Kathy Doetzer of Lake George. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Sacred Heart Church, 50 Mohican St., Lake George. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Gerald B. H. Published in the Post-Star on 9/23/2005. Dillon, Leonard A. SALEM -- Leonard A. Dillon, 81, of Salem, died Wednesday night, Sept. 21, 2005, at Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vt. He was born June 4, 1924, in Detroit, Mich., the son of the late Winston and Eleanor Murray Dillon. Mr. Dillon graduated from Washington Academy in Salem, and was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps as a sergeant with the 3rd Marine Airwing. He was a self-employed building contractor in Salem for 42 years, retiring in 1992. Mr. Dillon was a communicant of Holy Cross Church in Salem and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10848 in Salem. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on machinery. Mr. Dillon was predeceased in 1995 by his beloved wife of 45 years, Lucy Ross Dillon. He was also predeceased by a brother, Charles E. Dillon. He is survived by his loving son and daughter-in-law, Peter W. and Heidi Waite Dillon of Dedham, Mass.; two brothers, Kendall Dillon of Salem and William Arnold Dillon of San Diego, Calif. He is also survived by his two cherished grandchildren, Amber Dillon and Ross Dillon, both of Dedham, Mass. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at McClellan Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem, and at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, North Main Street, Salem, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with the Rev. Driscoll, Marion Grace (Fisher) RUTLAND, Vt. -- Marion Grace (Fisher) Driscoll, 95 years old, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, after a short illness. Born on June 19, 1910, in Hudson Falls, Marion was the only child of Rollin Bascomb Fisher and Grace Elizabeth (Weer) Fisher. She graduated from Hudson Falls School in 1928, and Potsdam Normal School in 1932. She returned to SUNY Potsdam and earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education and then taught for many years in the Hudson Falls school system. After her retirement in 1968, she and her husband, Henry, moved to Mount Holly, Vt. After the death of her husband, in 1975, Marion moved to Rutland. Her most recent residence was the Sunset Home. Next to her picture in her high school yearbook were the following words: "Marion always has a kind, cheery word for everyone she meets." Those words were certainly descriptive of her then and throughout her life. She was a gracious and generous lady with a lively wit. Until macular degeneration robbed her of her eyesight, Marion was an avid golfer, bridge player, gardener and traveler. She continued to "read" with books on tape and stayed current on domestic and world affairs. She was an accomplished pianist. Marion was devoted to her church and a member of the Women of Trinity, regularly visiting patients in the hospital. Marion was predeceased by her husband, Henry J. O'Driscoll, in 1975; and her only child, Richard D. Driscoll, in 2002. Survivors include a granddaughter, Lisha and her husband, Erik Petersen, and their son, Cal Richard of San Francisco, Calif.; a granddaughter, Shana and her husband, Ted Wood, of Livingston, Mont.; and a grandson, Michael Driscoll and his partner, Lawrence Doane, of Manhattan. Marion is also survived by her cousin, Mary Weer, of South Harwich, Mass., and her daughter-in-law, Martha Driscoll, of Hudson Falls. Marion was fortunate to have many good friends who helped her with their visits, calls, cards and prayers. Special thanks to the following people who were with her through her final days: Elsie Bedamo, Father Alan, the staff of Sunset Home, the Daughters of the King, all the ladies of Trinity Church, and Rutland Visiting Nurses and Hospice. A Eucharist service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Rutland. The Rev. Alan Gibson will officiate. Immediately following the service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the church library. Following the reception, burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in East Wallingford, Vt. Haigh, Andrew D. BOLTON LANDING -- Andrew D. Haigh, 74, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on Oct. 17, 1930, in Ithaca, he was the son of Andrew C. and Ida (Deck) Haigh. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served as a corporal with the U. S. Army, as a member of the Army Band stationed in Germany. He attended the University of Michigan on the GI Bill and pursued his graduate studies in art and art history at Harvard, and at Simmons College for library science. Andrew grew up in a musical family and was an accomplished wind instrument musician. His passion was jazz music, which he both performed and taught. He was instrumental in the creation of the library at Adirondack Community College. Andrew worked in the libraries of Smith and Bard College and The University of Massachusetts, where he also taught the History of Jazz and Jazz Improvisation. In addition he taught art history at Adirondack Community College. Andrew later volunteered at the Bolton Landing Chamber of Commerce for many years. He donated his services to catalog the collection for the Sembrich Museum in Bolton Landing. He was a loving husband, a devoted father and a great friend. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Stella E. Wheeler Haigh, on Aug. 23, 2005; and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his children: Liz Haigh and her husband, John Knoblock, of Trucker, Calif., William C. Haigh and his wife, Jennifer, of Potsdam, Stephen K. Wheeler and his wife, Susan, of Harleysville, Pa., Kristine W. Kaye and her husband, Michael J., of Hudson Falls, and Sandra K. Rist and her husband, Harold, of Queensbury; grandchildren: Andrew S. Knoblock, David K. Wheeler, Jeannie M. Joyce, Kimberley S. Keys, Kevin P. Tucker, Tracy K. Tucker, Michael S. Rist and Kristine D. Brewer; and 13 great-grandchildren. Pugh, Lanita Locke MAYFIELD -- Lanita Locke Pugh, age 89, of Mayfield, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville. She was born March 23, 1916, in Indian Lake, the daughter of Martin and Edith Brown Locke. A graduate of Indian Lake Central School, she also attended Boston College, and later graduated from the Nathan Littauer School of Nursing in Gloversville. Following graduation, Lanita was employed as an instructor at the school for several years until it was closed. She then became activities director and director of volunteer services at the Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home. Mrs. Pugh was a member of Foothills United Methodist Church of Gloversville, the Bannertown Senior Citizens of Mayfield, and the Nathan Littauer Nurses Alumni Association Survivors include her daughter, Christine C. Yost of Scotia; granddaughter, Holly Yost of Scotia; sister, Constance Brewer (Arthur) of Lake Luzerne; half sister, Lulumae Hodder of Hudson Falls; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lanita was married to Norman P. Pugh, who died in 1982. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald, Fred and Arthur Locke, and sisters, Laura Jane Hutchins and Nina Locke Benton. Smith, 72, of Shushan, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Mr. Smith was born March 9, 1933, in Sandgate, Vt., the son of the late Edison and Helen Nyrhenin Smith. He was a former truck driver and was a partner along with his brother, with the S & H Trucking in Shushan until the time of his death. Harley was a member of the Salem Fish & Game Club and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. He will be remembered for his skills operating backhoes and bulldozers. Harley is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Cordier Smith, whom he married in 1955, three children: Daniel Smith of Shushan, Theodore Smith of Hartford, and Judith Brownell of Greenwich. He is also survived by his brother, Harold "Abner" Smith of Shushan; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-granddaughter. In addition to his parents, Harley was also predeceased by a sister, Claudia Headwell. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at the convenience of the family at Evergreen Cemetery in Salem, with the Rev. Raoul Waters officiating.
