"Wally" SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Wallace "Wally" R. Bean, 63, of Woodcrest Drive, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, with his family at his side. Born on Aug. 4, 1942, in Malone, he was the son of the late Wallace and Grace (Fish) Bean. The family moved to Corinth, where Wally graduated from Corinth High School. Wally's lifelong career interest centered around real estate. Early on, he was part of the sales staff at Clements Realty and Savard Realty. After obtaining his brokers license, he established Foothills Realty, soon after branching into the real property appraisal facet of real estate. He held a general appraisal license from New York state and was a member of several of his professions' support organizations. He also was past assessor for the town of Moreau, and most recently with the village of South Glens Falls. An affinity and love of people prompted Wally to participate in many service and fraternal organizations and committees over the years. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Linda; two sons, Gregg and Garrett Bean, with their respective wives, Dianne and Jennifer, of South Glens Falls; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Rachel, of South Glens Falls; a brother, Kenneth Beane and his wife, Lois, of De Bary, Fla.; and a sister, Beverly Towers and her husband, Richard, of Corinth. Bureau, 81, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at Broward Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Nov. 27, 1923, in Winslow, Maine, Harvey was the son of Eva and Alfred Bureau. Harvey married Aline Rosa on June 27, 1953, and together they lived in Newcomb for more than 38 years before relocating to Florida. While in Newcomb, Harvey and his brothers formed Bureau Bros. Logging Co. and contributed to many community projects such as the building of the Elk Lake Dam, and the formation of the Newcomb ski tow. They were also contractors throughout the Adirondacks for Finch, Pruyn and Co. and International Paper Co. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Tupper Lake Fishing and Hunting Club. As a youngster, he loved singing in his church choir in Springhill, Quebec. Harvey was an avid gardener and also enjoyed golfing, fishing, making birdhouses and Adirondack furniture and spending time with his family and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Roland, Leo, Louis and Norman Bureau and one sister, Lise (Bureau) Gauthier. Survivors in addition to his wife of 52 years include one brother, Rene Bureau and his wife, Jeannine, of Newcomb; three sisters, Yvette Roberge, Jocelyn Maheu and her husband, Garcia, and Hugette Gauthier, all of Canada; five children: daughter, Lynn Swan and her husband, Bob, of Portland, Ore., daughter, Judy Peden and her husband, Mike, of Horseheads, N.Y., son, Gary Bureau and his wife, Donna, of Wells, N.Y., son, Steve Bureau and his wife, Tracey, of Queensbury, and daughter, Lisa Bureau and her fiance, Mike Doherty, of Brunswick, Maine; and nine grandchildren: Donald and Jeremy Swan, Shaun and Tiffany Peden, Jason and Dan Bureau, Steve Bureau and Alexandra and Danielle Smith. Carroll, Ruth Alice CAMBRIDGE - Ruth Alice Carroll, 68, a lifelong resident of Cambridge, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital after a long illness. Born Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1936, at the family home, she was the youngest of the 11 children of Frank and Samantha Young Weber. She received her education at Buskirk School. Ruth was a wonderful homemaker and mother. Her loving home was where everyone gathered. There was always a pot of coffee, a table to gather around and a kind, listening ear. Ruth loved animals, especially dogs. She always had several, and was especially fond of her dog, Allie. Survivors include her four children: Colleen Piekarz of White Plains, Darlene Darfler of Cambridge, Suzanne Mullen of Cambridge, and William M. Carroll of Saratoga Springs; two sisters, Charlotte Harrington of Cambridge and Patricia Kelly of Bennington; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge. Daley Jr., 64, of Glass House Creek Road, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at his home of natural causes. Born on May 5, 1941, in Ballston Spa, he was the son of the late William Sr. and Ruth (Green) Daley. Mr. Daley was employed for Burhmaster Oil Co. in Scotia for many years until his retirement in 2004. He was previously married to his first wife, Amy. He then married Kathy (Fasoli) Thompson on May 21, 1999. Mr. Daley was a member of the Scotia Fire Department at Thomas Corners for several years, and was a member of the Gun Club of Scotia. He enjoyed the outdoors, loved his outdoor fireplace and his animals, and also enjoyed spending time with his friends and grandchildren. Besides his parents, one infant sister died before him. Survivors besides his loving wife, Kathy, include one daughter, Kim Nash and her husband, Kelly, of Scotia; one stepson, Orin Thompson and his fiancee, Joellen, of Corinth; two grandchildren, Paige and Ryan Nash; two sisters, Alberta E. Hayden and her husband, Bill, of Schenectady and Patricia Stanek of Schenectady; and two nieces, Sue and Tina. Hutchins, 69, of county Route 24, Corinth, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at his residence with his wife, Donna, son, Shannon, and his sister-in-law, Diane, by his side. Mr. Hutchins was born in Rhinebeck, N.Y. He was a truck driver for most of his life and a former owner of H & P Hauling in Corinth. Hutch was an avid sportsman, loved NASCAR racing and enjoyed dining out with his wife, Donna. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Hutchins of Corinth; mother and stepfather, Florence and Ralph Derby of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two stepsisters, Donna Philmore of North Port, Fla., and Shirley Bush of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sons, Shannon Philips and his wife, Denise, of Johnstown, and William Tulk and his wife, Cheryl, of Williamston, S.C.; three stepsons, Delbert, Terrance and Robert Grant, all of Corinth; one daughter, Margaret Bardin and her husband, Ralph, of Glens Falls; two cousins, Helen Bartlett of Raleigh, N.C., and Frank Atwell of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren: Robin Bardin, Ralph Bardin and Carol Hopkins, all of Glens Falls, Colin Tulk of Willamston, S.C.; Casandra Tulk and Alexandra Tulk of Texas, J.W. McDougall, Roberta Mary Connell SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Roberta Mary Connell McDougall, 68, of South Glens Falls, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, after a 12 year battle with breast cancer. Roberta was born on Feb. 22, 1937, in Hudson Falls, to the late Irene and Robert "Red" Connell. She attended St. Mary's School and Hudson Falls High School, graduating in 1955. Roberta began her career with the New York Telephone Co. as an operator. She then worked for Decora, Inc., in Fort Edward, and as a bookkeeper at the Glens Falls Hospital, Eden Park Health and Rehabilitation Center and Irongate Center, all in Glens Falls, retiring in 1992. Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with her family and many friends. Besides her parents, Roberta was predeceased by her brother, John Connell. Survivors include her three loving daughters and their families, Sally Deming, her husband, Ron, and their children, Nicole Kraft and Leah Deming of Little Falls, Jacqueline Kegan and Paul Wells and their son, Joseph Wells of Lake George, Mary Kegan and David Fenton and their daughter, AnnaClaire Irene Fenton of Gansevoort; her special nephew, Robert Connell of Sarasota, Fla.; her aunt, Geraldine Hopkins of Queensbury; several other nephews and cousins; and her best friend, Joyce Ellis of Durkeetown. Nason, Winifred K. PEWAUKEE, Wis. - Winifred K. Nason died on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, in Pewaukee, Wis. She was 96. Born on March 25, 1909, in Peabody, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Myra and William Kimball. Mrs. Nason graduated from Normal School in 1929 with certification as a school teacher, and started teaching in Hanover, N.H. She married George A. Nason on Sept. 5, 1936. The couple resided in Acton, Maine. Mrs. Nason stopped teaching to raise their three children, but in 1947, she resumed her teaching career in Acton. She later taught in Shapleigh and Lebanon. She retired from Springvale Schools in 1972. Mrs. Nason completed enough courses to earn her B.A. in 1964 from the University of Maine at Orono, the same year that her son David received his master's degree in education and her son Richard received his B.S. in forestry, also from the University of Maine at Orono. Her husband, George, died in 1970. After retiring, she took several memorable trips to Europe, and she spent her winters in Florida. Mrs. Nason was a gardener and an avid reader and poet, and she enjoyed music. She also loved playing "Trivial Pursuit" with family members at the family camp at Acton, Maine. Survivors include her two sons, David and his wife, Lois, of Blue Hill Falls, Maine, and Richard and his wife, Sheila, of Glens Falls; a daughter, Ann Dow and her husband, Sherman, of Pewaukee, Wis.; and her sister, Barbara Campbell and her husband, William. She was predeceased by a brother, Herbert Kimball, and a sister, Marian Blauvelt. She had nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two cousins and several nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale, Maine, on Oct. 8. Visiting hours will be at 2 p.m., with the funeral at 3 p.m. Interment will be at Acton Corners Cemetery. There will be a reception at the Acton Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, at 4:30 p.m. for family and friends. CAMBRIDGE and SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Jane M. Rozell, 88, a former resident of Queensbury and South Glens Falls, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, in Cambridge surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Aug. 9, 1917, in South Glens Falls, and was the daughter of the late Albert and Kathryn (Edwards) Tracy. In November of 2004 she retired from Hannaford Store in Queensbury, where she worked in the bakery department. Prior to that she was employed at Grants Department Store in Queensbury. Mrs. Rozell was a charter member of West Glens Falls Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Glens Falls First Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, fishing and was an avid New York Yankees fan. Mrs. Rozell was predeceased by her husband, James Rozell, who passed away in May of 1991; five sisters: Martina Shaw, Helen Abare, Doris Henderer, Margaret Tracy and Frances Granger; and three brothers, Paul Tracy, Walter Tracy and Albert Tracy Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Mary J. White and her husband, Wayne, of South Glens Falls; a son, Robert J. Rozell and his wife, Arlene, of Whitehall; grandchildren: Wendy Ireland and her husband, Bryan, of South Glens Falls, David White and his wife, Kathy, of Queensbury, Robert White and his wife, Kimmarie, of Saratoga, Tammi Gebo and her husband, John, of Cambridge, Terri Witham and her husband, Robert, of Cambridge, and Scott Rozell and his wife, Rebecca, of Whitehall. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. HUDSON FALLS - Mary V. Sexton, 82, a longtime resident of Feeder Street and more recently of The Oaks in Fort Edward, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward. Born on Jan. 13, 1923, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Matteo and Antoinette (Esperti) Cifone. She was a graduate of Glens Falls High School and a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. On Feb. 10, 1945, she married Irving L. Sexton in Brooklyn, while they were both serving their country. He passed away on Aug. 24, 2004. Mary retired from Glens Falls Insurance Co., where she was a private secretary for many years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's/St. Paul's Church in Hudson Falls. Mary was active in various bowling and golfing leagues for many years. She loved playing cards with her family and with her friends at The Oaks in Fort Edward. Mary had a wonderful sense of humor that was appreciated by her family and the staff at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Patrick Cifone, her sister, Angeline Catone and her niece, Antoinette LaPoint. Mary's survivors include her brother, John Cifone and his wife, Lydia, of Glens Falls; her nephews: Tony Catone and his wife, Margaret, of Hudson Falls, John Cifone and his wife, Carol, Patrick Catone and his wife, Linda, Matthew Catone and his wife, Laurie, all of Queensbury, and Patrick Cifone and his wife, Theresa, of Gansevoort; several great-nieces and nephews; and many great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. VISTA, Calif. - Ivan K. Tyler, 93, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, in Vista, Calif. Ivan was born Oct. 1, 1911, in Roxbury, N.Y., the son of John and Angela Lynch Tyler. Although Ivan grew up on the family farm in the Catskill Mountains, his life was full of interesting encounters with notable people starting with his great-uncle John Burroughs, who was one of America's leading naturalists and who was friends with other intellectuals including Walt Whitman and Ralph Waldo Emerson. Through John Burroughs, Ivan got to meet Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, Thomas Edison and Teddy Roosevelt. At this time in his life he also met his first wife, Isabelle Barrus, who was the niece of Burroughs' biographer, Dr. Clara Barrus. After the U.S. entered World War II, Ivan enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was posted in England as a bombardier and tailgunner, where he flew multiple B17 missions over Germany. Ivan was wounded and received the Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross. On Christmas Day in 1944, he was especially lucky to have been chosen as one of 12 wounded GIs who were invited to Buckingham Palace for tea with the royal family and to be thanked for the U.S. effort to win the war in europe. After the war, he returned home to raise a family of three children. After 37 years of marriage, Ivan lost his first wife, Isabelle, in 1977. He later married his high school girlfriend, Kathleen Kelly Pitethly, whom he lost in 2001. Survivors include Ivan's immediate family, daughter, Lorraine Mammone, son, LeRoy and his wife, Barbara, and son, Robert; his extended family now counts eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Ivan was active in the Masonic Lodge and was Past Master of the Sandy Hill, N.Y. Lodge. He also had many hobbies including Ham radio in which he was one of the pioneers who built his own equipment and was licensed in the 1940s when radio technology was in its infancy. Internment services will be held Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the Roxbury Cemetery in Roxbury, N.Y. Contributions in Mr. Tyler's memory may be made to the National Parkinson's Disease Foundation William Black Medical Research Building 630 West 168th St., New York, NY 10032-9982 or the Masonic Temple.
