Vol. B page 124 probated 15 Feb 1862, O. Ferriss, Surrogate Know all men by these presents that I Seth Aldrich of the town of Luzerne in the County of Warren & State of New York considering the uncertainty of this life & being of sound mind & memory do make declare & publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. First I order that all my just debts be paid Second I give and devise unto my adopted son Hugh Aldrich the farm upon which he now resides situate in Hadley, N.Y. being the same farm purchased by me of Gardner Adams subject to a lease of the said farm by which certain rents are required to be paid. Thirdly, I give devise & bequeath unto my well beloved son Newton & to my well beloved daughter Caroline A. Wells, wife of Henry H. Wells, Myra Ann Dean wife of Orison Dean and Jane now a minor all of the rest & residue of my estate real and personal or mixed of which I shall die seized or possessed or to which I shall be entitled at my decease to be equally divided between them after giving to my daughter Jane the sum of Two thousand dollars & my daughter Myra Ann Dean the sum of six hundred dollars & to my daughter Caroline A. Wells the sum of three hundred & fifty dollars to make up an advancement of two thousand dollars made to my son Newton for which I hold his notes & the sum of fourteen hundred dollars made to my daughter Myra Ann & the sum of sixteen hundred & fifty dollars made to my daughter Caroline A. made to them before the execution of this instrument to be estimated as soo as much of their respective portions (one thousand dollars of the fourteen hundred made to my daughter Myra Ann, as an advancement herein referred to was made in the purchase of the Mill Creek property by Dean & myself) to have & to hold the same to them & their respective heirs and assigns forever. And I direct that upon such division the notes against my son Newton be cancelled & given up & I further order & direct that in case any further advancement should be made by to my children or either of tem after the execution of this instrument it shall be deemed & estimated in like manner as hereinbefore stated as so much of their portion or portions hereby bequeathed & devised & if notes should be taken by me from them or either of them the same are to be delivered up & cancelled. Fourth, I do nominate & appoint my son Newton Aldrich Executor & my daughter Myra Ann executrix of this my last will & testament. In testimony whereof to this my last will and testament I have subscribed my name & affixed my seal this fifth day of July 1856 Seth Aldrich (L.S.)
