Sweet Dated the day of 185 Recorded in the Clerk's office of the County of Washington the 12th day of March 1870 at 4 hours and minutes, (J)? M., in Book No. 66 of Deeds, on page 485 &c. P. Hitchcock Clerk 75 ("March 12 4 PM" pencilled in) This Indenture, Made this ninth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and (fifty) Seventy BETWEEN Stephen Barker of the town of White Creek County of Washington and State of New York of the first part, and Loran S. Sweet of the town county and state aforesaid of the second part; Witnesseth, that the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of two Dollars, to him duly paid, by the said party of the second part, has bargained, sold, remised, and quit claimed and By these Presents, does bargain, sell, remise, and quit claim unto the said party of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns, forever, All the water of a spring situated on the land of Hiram Starbuck (said spring was deeded by Delevan G. Perry of the town aforesaid on the 5th day of March 1857, which said deed is recorded in the County Clerk's Office of Washington Co. in Book No. 37 of Deeds page 586 - to which deed reference is made for further description of said spring.) Together with all the rights and privileges of said spring and the approaches thereto, as described in the aforementioned deed given to the said party of the first part by the said Delevan G. Perry. With the Appurtenances, and all the Estate, Title, Interest therein of the said party of the first part. In Witness Whereof, the said party of the first part has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written. Sealed and delivered in presence of J. N. On this Ninth day of March in the year one thousand eight hundred and (fifty) seventy before me, the subscriber, appeared Stephen Barker to me personally known to be the same person described in, and who executed the within instrument and acknowledged that he executed the same. Additional Comments: Source = original stamped copy of deed in possession of Theodore Rice The author used a pre-printed 1850's deed form and crossed out the "fifty", replacing it with "seventy". I put the "fifty" in parenthesis. I've also seen Loran Sweet's first name spelled as "Loren".
