App. for Pension June 18, 1849 Age 95 years Res. at date of app. Greenwich, [Washington Co], NY Lucy GRANGER declares that she is the widow of Moses GRANGER who resided in Suffield, Conn., where he enlisted and served in the Revolutionary Army at various times as a private until 1783, under the following officers with the Connecticut Troops: Captain Granger (soldier's cousin) Major Shipman Colonel Canfield He was in an expedition to New York and in the Battle of Frog's Neck, in the expedition to Saratoga against Burgoyne. In all he served at least two years. She was married to Moses GRANGER by Reverend Ebenezer GAY, a Presbyterian clergyman, July 2, 1778, at Suffield, Conn. She was the daughter of Moses and Mehitable ADAMS. Both were then of Suffield and their marriage was recorded on the records of the Congregational Church of said Suffield. Among those present at said wedding were Thaddeus Adams, Jonathan Adams, Libe Granger and Elizabeth Granger (no relationship stated), and her parents. The names of the following children of Moses and Lucy GRANGER are shown: Aaron b. Sep 17, 1778 d. 1849 Lucy b. Mar 23, 1780 Chloe b. Mar 9, 1782 Chloe b. Mar 6, 1785 Thankful b. Nov 18, 1787 Moses GRANGER died at Lakeville in the town of Greenwich, NY, Feb 14, 1833. Jan 27, 1849, Samuel WOODWORTH, aged 87 years, a US pensioner, declares that he enlisted in the spring of 1781 and served in Captain Smith's company, Lieut. Goodwin, Ensign Phelps, Major Humphry, Major Shipman, Colonel Bebee's regiment for one year. Was in the battle of Frog Point; during this service he was acquainted with Moses GRANGER, a fellow soldier, who enlisted under Captain Granger for the year's service. They were also at the Battle of Frogneck. The British had a cannon placed on a stump on a rock. This cannon was taken by the American forces. When deponent arrived where this cannon was placed he found the forces had taken it and broken it to pieces, and I was informed that Moses GRANGER had broken this cannon. Feb 21, 1849, John PETTINGILL, aged 83 years and upward, US pensioner, declares that from March 1781 to March 1782 he served in the same battalion with Moses GRANGER but in different companies. They were in the Battle of Frog Point together, etc. Feb 23, 1849, Jeremiah GIFFORD, of Vienna, Oneida Co, NY, aged 86 years and upward, US pensioner, declares he enlisted March 1782 for one year, in the Connecticut State Troops and served until March 1783, under Captain Miles, Colonel Canfield; and Moses GRANGER served in our regiment at that time under Captain Granger. Feb 23, 1849, Billings WORDEN, of Vienna, NY, aged 90 years, US pensioner, declares that he served from March 1782 until March 11783 in Captain Miles' company, Colonel Canfield's regiment, and that Moses GRANGER served in Captain Granger's company, said regiment. May 30, 1849, Ephraim WRIGHT, resident of Henderson, Jefferson Co, NY, a revolutionary pensioner, testifies in the case. March 8, 1850, Caleb WHIPPLE, of Mexico, Oswego Co, NY, aged 86 years, a revolutionary soldier, testifies in the case.
