From August 1 to 4, 1781, the soldier, Sergeant John Ryon, served in Foot Regiment under Capt. Matthias Button. From October 23rd to November, 1781, Sergeant John Ryon served in Foot Regiment under Lieut. Peter Baker's Company at Skeensborough, New York. Additional Comments: Today Skeensborough, NY, is Whitehall, NY. Also, the surname RYON is sometimes spelled RYAN.
