About six weeks ago she went to the home of George Telford for a short visit. While there she was stricken down with influenza and congestion of the brain, from which she never rallied. The funeral took place Monday, from the home of George I. Maxwell, her nephew, and she was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the cemetery at Salem. Marion Shankland Telford, daughter of John and Jennette Shankland, was born at South Argyle, Nov. 17, 1804. She was married to Robert Telford in 1827, since which time she has resided near East Greenwich. Her husband died in 1867. Two children survive her, James, of Chicago, and Elizabeth Hedges, who resides in California. From her early youth she had been a consistent member of the United Presbyterian church, first at South Argyle, and as one of the originally [sic] members of the congregation at East Greenwich. Her faithful life leaves behind it a memory, at once precious and profitable to the community in which she has been so long and favorably known.
