Greeting Know ye that at the County of Washington on the sixth day of October Instant before Edward Savage Esquire thereunto by us delegated and appointed the Last Will and Testament of Benjamin Colvin deceased (a Copy whereof is hereunto annexed) was Proved and is now approved and allowed of by us and the said deceased--- having whilst he lived and at the time of his death goods chattels or credits within this State by means whereof the proving and registring the said will and Granting Administration of all and Singular the said goods chattels & Credits and also the Auditing Allowing and final discharging the accounts thereof doth belong unto us the Administration of all and Singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased and any way concerning his Will is Granted unto Oliver Colvin the executor in the said Will named he being first duly Sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and to make and Exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and Singular the said goods chattels and credits and also to render a Just and true account thereof when thereunto required In Testimony whereof we have caused the Seal of our Court of Surrogate of our said County of Washington to be hereunto affixed Witness Edward Savage Esquire Surrogate of our said County at Salem the sixteenth day of november in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and eighty eight [SIGNED] Savage In the name of God Amen I Bejamin [sic] Colvin of Bennington in the County of Bennington and State of Vermont Yoeman being in health of Body and of a disposing mind and Memory thanks be to God therefor and calling to mind the mortality of my body and that it is appointed for man once to die and after that the Judgement Do make ordain and confirm this my Last Will and Testament That is to say principally and last First of all I give and recomend my Soul into the hand of God that gave it in hope of acceptance with God through the perfect Merits of his son Jesus christ and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named in hope of a blessed Resurection at the last day -- And as touching such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life-- I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form First my will is that my funeral charges and Just Debts be paid by m[y] Executor Imprimis I give to my beloved wife Elener the use of all my Indors moveables as long as she remains my widow which is in Leu of Right of Dower or thirds if she will accept of it and if not my will is that She shall have five shillings and no more and after my wife has had the use of the above said Household goods the above term my will is that they should be equally devided amongst or between my four beloved Daughters namly Mary Barbara Freelove and Paitiance with the addition of one Gold necklace to my eldest Daughter Mary---- Item I give to my three beloved sons namely Reuben Benjamin and Oliver one doller to each of them Item I give to my beloved Grandaughters namely Rachel the Daughter of my son Benjamin and Sarah Huldah Freelove the daughters of my Daughter Mary and Elener the daugter of my son Reuben the sum of five dollars apeice to be paid to each of them by my Executor within two years after my decease Item I give and bequeath to my beloved Grandsons and great grandson namely David Thomas and Reuben the sons of Reuben and William and obediah the sons of Oliver and Freeborn the son of my daughter Mary Josiah the son of my daughter Barbara and Nathan the son of my daughter Paitience and David the son of my Granddaughter Dorcas the sum of Fifty three dollars apiece to be paid to each of them severaly by my exectuor within two years after my decease And further I do ordain constitiute and appoint my beloved son Oliver to be my Executor to execute this only Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of November in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven and I do hereby revoke and disanul all former wills that I have made NB the word and is underlined in the tenth line from Surrogate of the said County Lemuel Powers Minister of the Baptist Church at Stillwater-- in the County of Albany one of the witnesses to the aforesaid will and being duly Sworn on his oath declared that he did see Benjamin Colvin Sign and seal the within written Instrument purporting to be the will of the said Benjamin Colvin bearing date the fifteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eight seven and heard him Publish and declare the same--- as and for his last Will and Testament that at the time there of Thereof he the said Benjamin Colvin was of sound and disposing mind and memory to the best of his knowledge and belief-- and that his name subscribed to the said Will is of his respective proper handwriting which he subscribed as witness to the said Will in the Testator's presence and that he the deponent saw Peter Werder and Simion Spencer the other witnesses to the said will Subscribe their names as witnesses thereto in the Testators presence
