This twenty seventh Day of December one thousand seven hundred and Ninety four I Richard Prouty of Salem in the County of Washington and State of Newyork being at this time by the blessing of God in comfortable state of health and perfect mind and memory but on the consideration of the uncertainty of life upon mature consideration think it my indispensable duty to make this my last will and testament as follows- To first I give up my soul to God that gave it and my body to the dust to be buried with a decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my executor hereafter named nothing doubting but soul and body will be reunited at the last day by the almighty power of God. And as touching such worldly interest all I have been blessed with in this life after my last debts and funeral charges are adjusted and paid I give hereafter and dispose of as follows--- Here I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Susanna the whole of my dwelling house and the one half of my barn and the one half of my land and the whole of my moveable and personal Estate to be at her sole disposal for ever and Likewise the improvement of the other half of my barn and land until my daughter Rhoda shall arrive to the age of eighteen years but provided she shall not live to that age then for my wife to have the improvement of that half of the barn be until the youngest of the surviving Huldah Luke or Asa shall arrive to be of lawful age all on consideration and for the purpose that my said wife shall educate and bring up the said Huldah Luke Asa and Rhoda until they arrive to the lawful age provided they shall live and likewise for my wife to pay the said Huldah twenty pounds when she shall arrive to the age of eighteen years and likewise to pay to Luke twenty pounds when he shall arrive to the age of twenty one years and likewise to pay to Asa twenty pounds when he shall arrive to the age of twenty one years and to pay to Rhoda twenty pounds when she shall arrive to the age of eighteen years and further more my will is that at expiration of the term when the last of these four children shall be of lawful age then the one half of my lands and barn be disposed of as follows To Richard, Titus, James, Luke, and Asa my five sons and likewise Bertha Labarron Huldah and Rhoda my three daughters the half of the lands and the half of the barn to be divided in the equal proportions among my five sons and each of my three daughters to be equally and to have each one two thirds to one son and where as there is one saw mill standing on my farm for the accommodation of which I have given a lease of two acres of land for a mill yard and for which one fourth part of the mill is my property which in this my will there has been no mention there fore made and further my will is that my wife have and hold my property in said mill the same term of holding the last half of the lands and barn until certain of the heirs shall arrive to the lawful age as aforementioned and then the same to become posted for an average with and as the others as above mentioned and furthermore I do make constitute and appoint my beloved wife Susanna Sole executor to this my last will and testament ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament signed sealed published and pronounced the day and year above written Richard Prouty
