This Indenture made the twenty third day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine, between Jacob Garlock of Marion Wayne County and State of New York and Maria his wife of the first part and Andrew Conrow of the same town of the second part Witnesseth: That the said parties of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of Two thousand two hundred and seventeen dollars and fifty cents to them duly paid have sold and by these presents do grant and convey to the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns all that certain tract or parcel of land, situate in said town of Marion being land which said Jacob Garlock purchased of Levi Clark and Margaretta his wife and is bounded as follows. On the East by lands of Sydney Pratt, on the north by lands of Abram Lee and William B. Coggshall on the west by land of said William B. Coggshall and on the south by land of Deater and Butterfield, excepting and reserving out the same about one acre and one fourth of an acre owned and now posse[ss]d by George Deater containing after deducting the above reservation Seventy three acres and one hundred and forty seven rods With the appurtenances and all the estate title and interest of the said parties of the first part therein. And the said Jacob Garlock does hereby covenant and agree that at the delivery hereof he is the lawful owner of the premises above granted and seized of a good and indefeasible estate of inheritance therein free and clear of all incumbrances and that the will warrant and defend the above granted premises in the quiet and peaceable possession of the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof the parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. Sealed and delivered in presence Jacob Garlock seal M. Rich Maria (her x mark)Garlock seal State of New York Wayne County ss: On the 23d day of December, 1839, before me Marvin Rich a Judge in and for the said county came Jacob Garlock and Maria his wife whom I know to be the grantors described in and who executed the above Deed, and acknowledged they had executed the same. And the said Maria on a private examination separate and apart from her husband acknowledged she had executed the same freely and without fear or compulsion of her said husband.
